One of my favorite series. Savannah, Dirk and the gang set out to find the killer who killed a well known person. In the meantime they have a unexpected visitor. To hear more read the book.

G.A. McKevett's Moonlight Magnolia Series is one of my favorites... never disappoints. This novel finds Granny busy in the kitchen, and a new member to the team. Whilst Dirk sorts through a horders paradise to find what happened to a 1940s movie star, Savannah is busy with a new addition to their home, as well as supporting Dirk in his efforts. Tammy and Waycross add to the excitement -- and at end, perhaps a peek into the next book into the series, another of Savannah's siblings comes to down. A very light read with a satisfying mystery... this series just keeps getting better!

This is the twenty-fifth book in the Savannah Reid series. Savannah is on a stakeout with Dirk when they come across a young boy and his mother who has a bag of drugs on her. Savannah and Dirk take the boy in temporarily after his mother is arrested. Shortly after, Savannah gets a call from an old friend asking for help. Her friend had found an elderly friend of his strangled. The woman was a hoarder so there was no shortage of possible evidence. Dirk and Savannah along with the whole Moonlight Magnolia team work on the case and sift through everything in her home trying to find clues as to who wanted the old woman dead. I always have loved the Savannah Reid books. It is always like reconnecting with old friends every time I sit down with the characters. I love Granny Reid. She is the grandmother I think everyone wants. The mystery was well done and I didn't suspect the killer until the end. I absolutely loved the young boy and Savannah's niece Vanna Rose. This is and always will be a series that brings me so much joy. I can't wait to read more.

While keeping her husband company on a stakeout, Savannah Reid and her husband, Dirk, come across a woman with a pile of drugs and a young boy in her van. Having both come from rough childhoods, Savannah and Dirk agree to care for the boy until a foster family can be found for him.

When Savannah gets a call from a friend and client, both she and Dirk find themselves working the case of a former Hollywood star who was found murdered in her mansion. Between the case and their young charge, Savannah needs to find the right balance with the changes. Granny Reid to the rescue as everyone learns to adapt to their new, happy normal.

The members of the Magnolia Detective Agency find themselves helping sort through a ton of trash the former star had accumulated as part of her hoarding problem. Why would someone kill the woman and leave her in the famous pose from her younger days? With just a great grandson left behind, the police begin to focus on him as their primary suspect when they find that he had been disinherited by the woman. But while they suspect him, they don’t have the proof they need to arrest him. Can Savannah and Dirk find the evidence they need to arrest the murderer and the balance they need in their lives or will they go down for the count?

I love this series and often find myself relating to Savannah throughout the books. Family is everything for her and I’m so glad that she shares them with us in the books as well. This one really gave me warm fuzzies and I can’t wait for the next one!

I loved this book! I'm a huge fan of this series and this story touched on all my emotions.
The mystery is gripping, a 90 year old victim, who was known for her acting career, a serious case of hoarding, lies, abuse, and so much more.
On the personal side, Savannah and Dirk work together to help a child in desperate need of love, while remembering their own difficult childhood.
I couldn't put this book down and read it in one sitting.
And the Killer Is...a must read!

Fans of this series will be happy with this latest offering. I strongly recommend you read the previous books in the series as I have not and I may have liked this book more if I had.

Somebody remind me why the earlier books in the series are hiding in my TBR pile when I remember the ones that I read very fondly? If you haven't read about BBW Private Investigator Savannah Reid and her family (including Homicide Detective husband and former police partner, Dirk) don't hesitate to jump in and read this newest one. I hadn't read about them in a while, and while I missed out on some interesting cases and a lot of fun, there was no real problem as any info was included.
About this murder mystery. The victim is a 90 year old former film star who got into the business at 14 in the 1940's but has deteriorated into a nasty old woman with a serious hoarding problem. There are only a select few suspects, but getting hard evidence is complicated by the state of the once grand residence. There are non-police friends to help, but it's a real mess of a case that just keeps getting more convoluted. There are several personal and family issues that crop up and they add a lot of positive things to the read. I loved this one even more than the ones I read in the past!
I requested and received a free ebook copy from Kensington Books via NetGalley. Thank you!
