Promise at Pebble Creek is the sixth book in Lisa Jones Baker's Hope Chest of Dreams series. It follows the love story of Hannah Lapp and Marcus Jackson. Hannah is a kind, cheerful, and family-oriented young woman. She works at her family's store, Amish Edibles, and secretly enjoys reading and writing adventure stories. When Englischer Marcus Jackson moves to Pebble Creek, the two form an instant friendship. Marcus fled Chicago before his brothers' life of crime ruined his future. He has recently accepted Christ into his life and wants to serve him as faithfully as he can. He ends up renting a place on Hannah's family land and becomes great friends with her brother Ben. Meanwhile, the friendship between Hannah and Marcus has turned into love, but can they have a future together? They both turn to God for help and guidance as they decide what to do about their relationship.
This is a sweet and heartwarming Amish romance of having faith and trusting God for the next step. The story is well-written, easy to read, and has a good pace. This was my first time visiting Pebble Creek, and I instantly fell in love with the charming and peaceful countryside setting and enjoyed learning about the roles the other characters played in making Pebble Creek the magical place it is today. Hannah and Marcus are both wonderful characters and you can't help but root for them. I thought Hannah's love of adventure novels added a fun layer to the story. I also really liked the friendship between Ben and Marcus. Ben really supported him and helped him grow in his new faith.
Overall, I thought this was a wonderful read with a powerful message woven into it. I look forward to spending more time in Pebble Creek.

An entertaining and well written inspirational romance. Great plot and character development. I recommend this book. I received an arc from the publisher and this is my unbiased review.
This is a well written book that holds your attention. It's a sweet heartwarming story about Hanna and Marcus and how they fell in love. This book was a joy to read. Thank you Kensington Books/Zebra via NetGalley for the ARC copy of this book. All opinions expressed are my own.
In the last installment of the Hope Chest of Dreams series readers will see glimpses of the lives of people of Pebble Creek from previous books. Marcus is led to Promise Creek away from a troubled situation. Hannah Lapp befriends Marcus as does her whole family. I liked the way Ben guides Marcus in his new found faith. The openness of the discussions about Christianity to include both Amish and English was enlightening. Looking forward to more books from this author.
A sweet story about a young, Amish woman, Hannah Lapp who runs the town's "Amish Eatables". She has a new, Englischer customer, Marcus Jackson, who has just become a Christian and is very eager to make friends. He ends up renting a place on Hannah's family land and their friendship becomes closer as they begin to explore the possibility of making their relationship last. I enjoyed this very endearing story of Hannah and Marcus. I would recommend it to anyone who loves this type of romance.
This is the first book I have read from this author. I loved the cover of this book.. that is one of the reasons I really wanted to read it. The cover was inviting...but for some reason this book was really difficult to get in to. Hannah and Marcus are the two main characters and they seem relatable but just kind of boring to be honest. Even though I love the clean and Christian theme of the book, it was just not a page-turner for me. It did seem to jump around a bit and the book didn't draw me in as I had hoped by looking at the cover.
Hannah and Marcus's story. Not sure why, but didn't feel much of a connection between these two. She is Amish, he is not, but that doesn't stop their attraction and romance. At times it felt like the story jumped around a bit, and I ended up skimming a bit because of it. Would still recommend, but was not my favorite by this author. Liked the part about quilting the best.
This is book number 6 in The series I believe. And I am Sad to say It was Just an ok book for me. Yes It had a lot of what I personally expect from an amish book. romance., family dynamics etc etc. But It Just felt weak. with that being said I appreciated The Main characters. their ability to see beyond their belief and their perspective on life.
