this was a really good western novel, it had what I was looking for in this type of book. The characters were great and felt liked they belonged in the time.

I like reading westerns and this third installment from The O'Malleys of Texas series, Massacre at Whip Station, was great. I enjoyed it and am giving four stars.

MASSACRE AT WHIP STATION by author Dusty Richards is another book based on the O’Malley family of settlers who have demonstrated their survival and tenacity in past novels by facing the hardships and dangers present in their day-to-day life in the wilderness of the west.

Joe O’Malley is the patriarch of the family, and he and his kin see it as their duty to protect the stage coach and travelers against harm when it becomes clear that they are in danger due to their precious cargo, which happens to be an important tribal chief being transported to Washington at the behest of the president of the United States.

Intentions and motives of the people involved in this journey are not made immediately clear, and officials entrusted are often not who or what they seem to be, with leftover feelings of hatred for both the government from the war, and the presence of Native Americans causing dissenting views by the travelers of what the outcome of the trip should be, and the O’Malleys figure heavily into seeing truth and justice prevail; in spite of the risks they take to see things through to the finish in this story.

Enjoyable tale of the importance of truth and justice being the motivation for decisions made, and the risks necessary for seeing things through to ensure the future of the land they call home.
Somewhat overly long and at times without much taking place, it still succeeds at coming together as it nears the end of the story, and sets the course for future novels based on the O’Malleys.

Recommended to fans of clean inspirational tales of endurance and tenacity involving settlers in the development of the American west.

4 stars.

Dusty Richards has started a dynasty of men and women set in the Old West that I hope will have a LONG run. The family of hard working, honorable citizens of a small town with a stage coach stop that sees more than it's fair share of outlaw activity, must make the hard decisions and enforce the law or lose everything they've worked for. Thus starts an excellent series that has earned a spot in my library right next to me Johnstones.

Colorful and Clean Western Expansion Story
This novel is a blast! The cast of characters is something Hollywood could only dream about. The story has so many twists it keeps the reader hopping. While there is a normal amount of violence (because it is a western), there is no gore, little blood, no sex or swearing. This was such a great story! I am going to read more of this author's work. I received this ARC book for free from Net Galley and this is my honest review.
