This book has me ready for summer to arrive! I loved Girls of Summer, just as I love all of Nancy Thayer's books. Nantucket is such a magical setting for summer romance novels. I loved getting to know Lisa, Juliet, and Theo, and need more of these characters!
Feel-good story based in picturesque Nantucket. New relationships, new life paths, and and new family adventures.
4. 5 stars Feels like summer is here when I read a Nancy Thayer book and this one was no exception. Nantucket was a perfect spot to spend during the Covid 19 quarantine. Loved the relationships between Lisa, her children, Mack and Beth, and Ryder.. This book just begs for a sequel.
Nancy Thayer always creates characters that could be your friend or next door neighbor. They’re extremely real and relatable, as are the plots she writes. Lisa Hayley raised her two children by herself, making them the center of her world. Now they’re out in the world, she’s on her own, until she meets carpenter, Mack Whitney. Her children decide to come home to Nantucket and they’re worried Mack will end up hurting their mother as he’s ten years younger. They’re soon embroiled in their own romances, and all three have to figure out where their relationships are heading.
My only negative comment is the title. Girls of Summer is okay, but really doesn’t fit. I think another title would have been better.
In this story of second chances, single mom Lisa has sent her two children off to college and decides it’s time to renovate her old house. Local contractor, Mark Whitney, who’s handsome and ten year her junior, agrees to do the work. It’s not long before sparks between to fly between the two single parents, despite the age difference. Lisa’s children, however, are worried that Mack will break their mom’s heart and hope that a summer spent with her in Nantucket will help break Mack’s spell on Lisa. Instead, Juliet and Theo end up with summer romances of their own. Light hearted and enjoyable, this book did a good job taking my mind off the craziness going on in the world right now
