A charming and fun read with a beautiful setting! Set in beautiful Nantucket, the setting details will sweep you away. The characters are relatable and I was invested in them almost immediately, rooting for them throughout the book. The love stories moved at a lightning pace which made it a bit unbelievable. However, this was a fun and easy lighter read that will make for perfect beach reading. My thanks to the publisher for the advance reader in exchange for my honest review.
This is the story of a woman, Lisa, whom after a divorce raising her children, and building a business finds love. Her grown children moving back home throws some obstacles in her way. Her children also find partners as well. I enjoyed the book, but I would have liked it better if each couple had their own book. I received an ARC from NetGalley for my honest review.
This is a perfect summer read from Thayer. I loved the progression and maturity of the character Lisa as she grows and makes a life for herself after her divorce. The romance between her and Mack is believable and enjoyable to live vicariously through them as a reader.
No one does Nantucket stories like Nancy Thayer. You want to have a place there of your own. Shop the shops,See the ocean and maybe find a romance of your own. A great summer beach read.
This is a great book to escape to the pool or beach with. Nantucket will make you long for an island house though in this read. Very well done by Nancy Thayer!
Lisa Hawley has the perfect marriage on the outside looking in, but on the inside it is falling apart. When Lisa is left a single mom of two, she has to pick up the pieces of her shattered marriage and heart and move on. Lisa gets a job at a retail store that keeps her busy. When her boss decides that she is getting out of the business, Lisa gets the whole shop to herself. The people on Nantucket have liked her stuff better all along anyway. With Juliet and Theo close to graduating, Lisa is going to have some extra time on her hands.
When Lisa is sitting at her kitchen table one night, the ceiling falls on her head and she realizes that she has put all of the things on hold that needed to be done in the house to tend to raising her kids. Lisa walks around and makes a list of what all she wants repaired or redone in the house and calls her friend for advice on a good restoration guy. Lisa is given Mack's number to call for a reconstruction contractor. Lisa remembers Mack from his daughter being in the same grade as Theo in school. Lisa remembers him as being a single dad too because Beth's mom died when she was 3. Little does Lisa know what she is in store for with Mack!
Beth had moved away and gotten a job on her own, but has decided to come back to Nantucket for the summer. She missed being home. When she meets someone special, she sort of changes her whole life plan that she thought she had worked out. Theo has also decided that he misses home and has gone home for the summer. Theo was basically just surfing out in California and when he had an accident, it sort of changed his way of thinking too, as well as a special someone that he reconnects with. So, Lisa is not going to have so much extra time on her hands as she had thought. Working at 'Sail" keeps Lisa busy and now she has her kids back home too.
Beth had also gone away after High School and left her dad, Mack to sort of get used to being by himself only to realize that she misses being on Nantucket as well. When Beth moves home, she finds out that her father is seeing Lisa, Theo's mom, and is not sure how she feels about it. Her dad has not dated anyone since her mother passed away so this is different for Beth to see.
When all these single people find their special person, you get more than just one love story in this summery read on an island that we would probably all love to live on. The characters are all so well developed and thought out that this book just flows flawlessly. Easy reading for me for sure. You will enjoy reading about these two families in this Girls of Summer read. Great job!
I voluntarily read and reviewed this book and all opinions are my own. Thanks to Netgalley, the publisher and the author for and advanced copy of this book.
Girls of Summer by Nancy Thayer is a great escape from our current reality. It was a pleasure to read about these three women who took control of all aspects of their lives and found happiness.
I needed a gpod light summer read in the midst of all pf this stay at home business. This was my first book by Nancy Thayer, but I thoroughly enjoyed it . I haven't been to Nantucket, but I've been to Martha's Vineyard and I imagine I would adore Nantucket just as much much. Until the day I can mark that off of my bucket list novels like Girls of Summer help me imagine the island in all it's glory- not a chain store or fast food restaurant in sight, and endless beaches and independently owned shops. I enjoyed getting to know the many characters that make up the main cast of the novel, and I appreciate the backstories of their younger days to give is the full picture. Love is everywhere in this novel and I adored seeing the beginnings (and in some cases picking back up of) romances. I really hope this is a series because I think tjere is stoll a lot of story to be told.
What a fun, easy beach read! Thanks to Netgalley and Random House for the ARC copy. I enjoyed this book by Nancy Thayer. It was easy , fun and enjoyable. The story line was simple, as well as the characters. It was a bit slow and repetitive at times, but enjoyable enough to keep you reading.
As an avid Nancy Thayer fan, I was excited when I received the ARC of Girls of Summer. Sincere thanks to NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group/Ballantine for providing me with the ARC.
Grab your favorite beach chair (or a comfortable, relaxing chair) and get ready to be transported to Nantucket. We’re introduced to Lisa Hawley, the book’s main character, and learn of her story as a young woman and eventually, a mom. The book takes us on her journey from Nantucket to Washington, D.C., and back to her beloved Nantucket where she raises her two children, Juliet and Theo.
The Girls of Summer is the story of Lisa, her daughter, Juliet, and Beth, a young woman who grew up with Lisa’s son, Theo. It’s a story of love, resiliency, and coming to terms with a woman’s sense of self.
If you’re looking for an easy, read, Girls of Summer is for you.

Thank you to NetGalley and Ballantine Books for a digital copy of this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Nancy Thayer's Girls of Summer follows Lisa Hawley from her 20s to her 50s as she marries, raises her children, endures a divorce and settles into a routine while her kids live away and she manages her cute little Nantucket shop. When she realizes her house is in need of repair, Lisa reaches out to Mack Whitney, a local contractor. This is where the story takes off, with lots of interconnected characters. Its heartwarming, as most of Thayer's books are, that Hawley can find love at an older age.
I want to thank NetGalley, Random House Publishing Group/Ballantine, and author Nancy Thayer for providing me an ARC of this book!
Who doesn’t love a good beach read? Especially when you’re miles and miles away from the nearest beach *softly cries*. This story centered around the fact that true love can bloom at any age and family is everything, no matter what. I have never read Thayer, but I can tell you I’ve been missing out! I loved how all three couples were joined together to make this truly beautiful story. This will get you ready for summer and make your heart happy.
Pick this up on May 26! Thank you again to those named above for the chance to read and review this ARC!
Girls of Summer would make for a perfect beach read. A story of finding out true love really does exist no matter what age you are and that family is everything. Setting is in beautiful Nantucket. Nancy Thayer is my go to author, she writes magical romances that are perfect for light, summer reading.
The list of characters in the story is long but, I have to say, Lisa and Mack are my favorite. Their romance was beautiful and real.
Many thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and author, Nancy Thayer, for the opportunity to read and give my honest review of Girls of Summer.

A Light quick read. Great for quarantine or the beach. I look forward to Nancy Thayer.’s new book every hear. This one was mot her best in my opinion. The characters didn’t draw me in. I thought the plot was implausible and not very believable.

Nancy Thayer is a great author who's books are often based on Nantucket.
Lisa Hawley is living on her own.after a nasty divorce that happened almost two decades ago. She opens a boutique which she enjoys. She has two vulnerabIlity and Then who are grown and live off the island.Lisa is in her dining room when a part of her ceiling starts falling in. She knows that it is now past time to do repairs on her home that desperately need doing. She calls Back a father of one of her Son's friends who is a well known master carpenter to work on her house.
As he gets started on her home that begin to enjoy each other's comoany. He asked her out but She thinks he's crazy because he is ten years younger than her. Her children come home for the summer unexpectedly and she is worried what they will think.
As Juliet her daughter for Ryder Hastings a newcomer to the island and Theocomes to the conclusion has always loved Beth,Jack's daughter life has many twist and turns. You will enjoy this book and be looking forward to the next ine.
Nancy Thayer has done it again - evert summer (and sometimes winter), her books transport me to Nantucket. I have never actually been to Nantucket, the closest I have been has probably been Westerly, RI, or Rockport, MA, but she makes Nantucket a place I can see in my mind, and definitely a place I would like to go sometime!
This is a fun, light beach read. Lisa meets Mack and they hit it off - though Lisa is a bit uncomfortable with the age difference, and lost her confidence in the romance department after her divorce from her cosmopolitan husband Erich. Her daughter and son also return home unexpectedly for the summer, as does Mack's daughter, which puts a slight damper on their romance. However, they all navigate the family dynamics, and each is exploring romantic feelings of their own.
I loved the Nantucket setting, and also the fact that while this book had romance, the females do not give up their career aspirations, or themselves, to find love.
I received a copy of this book through Net Galley on exchange for an honest review.
I just love Nancy Thayer and a trip to Nantucket! I hope someday I get to visit there! This was nice read about a small family coming back together after quite a bit of time spent apart and finding happiness.
I received an advanced reader copy of this book and am voluntarily reviewing it.
Thank you NetGalley for the advance copy of Girls of Summer by Nancy Thayer. This is a feel good summer read. The characters are all likable, but at times I felt were too fluffy and fell in love too fast. The story line was simple with a happy, predictable ending. I’d recommend this book to anyone looking for a fast read that is uplifting at a time when life is complicated.
