This was a fast paced read that was not easy to put down. There were a few red herrings thrown in to keep the mystery alive, but it not overly unpredictable. I always enjoy work by this talented author. I don’t know if I would classify it as more of a thriller or a domestic drama though. In defense of this book it is well written as far as this genre goes it is original and that is a good thing. There is a build up of suspense and an ending that was fantastic because I never imagined the outcome while reading.

Thank you to the publishers for letting me read this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I LOVED this book! There was a nice foreshadowing, that I won't give away, that lets the reader know that something isn't quite right with one of the main characters. The story line, the characters and the intrigue is there, this book will have you guessing until the end as to what the truth really is.

Thank you again for letting me read this, I thoroughly enjoyed it!

While this book didn't really rock my world, it was entertaining enough to pass the time on a rainy day. There's an underlying message of understanding that the grass is not always greener on the other side.

Kate and Lauren are sisters who are still grieving over the death of their father. One day while spending time with their mother there is a knock at the door and a woman claiming to be their half sister. The sisters are shocked as they had no idea of the existence of any other siblings. Kate who is a journalist is skeptical of her new half sister and her intentions. After some investigation Kate could not fathom what she would learn.

This was my first book by this author and I really enjoyed it. I found the book hard to put down as I was in suspense the whole time and wanted to know who the half sister was and why she appeared out of no where after so many years. I would definitely recommend this book to all thriller fans.

The Half Sister by Sandie Jones was a fairly fast read. It was more of a family drama than a thriller in my opinion. Kate and Lauren are sisters and have a rivalry. Their mother is Rose and their dad Henry died within the past year. He was a great lawyer who helped a lot of women with custody and divorce cases. Kate worshipped her dad, Lauren did not. One Sunday at the family dinner, a woman named Jess shows up claiming to be their half sister. She had been adopted as an infant and a recent DNA test points to Henry as her father. Kate and Rose are horrified but Lauren is pretty excited. The story gets deeper and more scandalous from here. This book was decent and easy to read. Thanks to Net Galley and the publisher for the advanced copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

In this family/domestic suspense, Sandie Jones has nailed it! There is bitterness and resentment based on lies and secrets protecting the wrong people.

I am so happy to have siblings that are not the best of friends and have a dynamic I am more used to. It always amazes me the power and control parents wield even on adult children.

I love the investigative approach Kate has because that is what she is trained to do. Lauren's relationship is unfortunately realistic and I appreciate the insight I hope that can offer. The whole family is completely blindsided by Jess, for different reasons. The unraveling of childhood memories and the crumbling of the pillars our parents' can be placed on is every person's fear no matter their age.

Thanks to NetGalley, Minotaur Books and Bookish First for the chance to review.

This story is the most riveting and suspenseful I have ever read!! I have read all of Sandie's book so far and this has the most twists and turns in a book and will keep you on your toes the entire time, who is Jess, is Rose the mom, is Harry the dad, is Lauren the mom, is Kate even a sister, who is Julia ... so many wonderful turns it will make your head spin in a good way! Well done Sandie and keep them coming!!

This is Sandie Jones' third book and does not disappoint. In this tale we have two sisters, Kate and Lauren who meet at their mother's house every Sunday for lunch. Their relationship is best described as strained, but they keep up appearances for their mother, especially since their father has recently passed.

One Sunday a woman, Jess, shows up at the door and claims to be a love child of their fathers and is the half sister of Kate and Lauren. Kate cannot fathom the idea of her father straying from her mother and is out to prove this woman is a fraud. Lauren on the other hand believes Jess and thinks that Kate just needs to accept it.

At first I thought Jones spilled the beans and ruined the entire book. I was convinced I knew what was happening...what I didn't see happening was everything that did. Whoops. That's what made this book a good one for me...there are twists and turns and family secrets that just seep out from everywhere.

I started to think Jess was crazy. Maybe it was Lauren that was crazy. With Kate, I had no idea...she is a little crazy and over the top, but I liked her the most. I felt the most connected to Kate and was really pulling for her. In the end, this story satisfied everything.

4 stars. This is a marvelous domestic suspense novel that will have your wheels turning trying to figure the family out. The ending may shock you...which makes this one all the better!

Sandie Jones is on my radar for annual family drama Summer Beach Reads. Three years and counting! Please keep up the pace Ms. Jones, because my summer reading depends on it.

Kate and Lauren are sisters dealing with a magnitude of life issues: infertility for one, three young children for the other, husbands and work issues for both. Throw in their mother, and the recent passing of their beloved father, and you have very full plates. Imagine the heart ache and shock when Jess shows up at their mother's house during family dinner, claiming she is the illegitimate daughter of their father. Is it true? Could the memories of their father be false? Or is Jess a fraud?

While this was my least favorite of Ms. Jones' books, you will still want to finish to see where the story is going to take you. Enjoy this mystery and family drama!

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for my advanced copy in exchange for my review.

I shall start this review with a song.
"This family is bananas, B-A-N-A-N-A-S!
Again, this family is bananas, B-A-N-A-N-A-S!
This family is bananas, B-A-N-A-N-A-S!"
.
Alright, now that that is stuck in your head, let's get to it. My, oh my, Can you say drama! Seriously, I didn't realize one family can have this much drama, until I read this one. Lauren and Kate were attending their weekly family dinner at their mothers place, when a knock comes at the door. A young woman is looking for their father, and claiming she is his daughter. Only problem is, their father died and they haven't heard of her before. Lauren is all too accepting of this situation, whereas Kate, is very skeptical. Im more of a kate in this situation, TRUST NO ONE, that's what I always say anyways. As fun as the premise sounds, I did find the beginning alittle slow, but as the book progressed, so did the pace.
.
This was a super chaotic book, filled several twists and turns. Would I personally call this a thriller? No, I don't think I would. To me, it felt more like a family drama, but I was still pleasantly pleased with it. It wasn't as suspenseful as I originally thought it would be, but the ending made everything worth it. I thought I seen it coming, and then I didn't, and then I was seriously shocked. All in all, for my first Sandie Jones book, I was happy with it !

Although I have read and enjoyed other Sandie Jones books, I picked this one up with no expectations. I was surprised that once I started, I couldn't put it down! It was an easy, quick and enjoyable read.

After having ready so many psychological thrillers and suspense novels, they all start to have the same plot and lose any element of surprise. Although The Half Sister didnt necessarily have me holding my breath, it certainly kept me engaged.

Really enjoyed this book and would recommend!

Everything explodes pretty quickly in Sandie Jones latest book out this summer.
I feel like DNA is coming more and more into play with books I read this year. That is how Lauren and Jess found each other. Jess is the sister Lauren knew about, but Kate did not. Jess is the one who interrupts Sunday dinner to announce she's looking for her father who happens to be dead.
Alternating chapters follow Kate and Lauren dealing with the aftermath of their new "sister." One is very excited about this new development, and the other is going to get to the bottom of it. Then there is their mom who is forced to unbury the memories she so long ago buried. Lauren was hoping that Jess would be the key they needed to bring their family closer together, but it is instead ripping them apart.
As we get further and further into the story, secret after secret and lie after lie are exposed. There are some doozies which will have you turning the pages. Then there is the very last page that left my mouth agape!

Thank you Netgalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This is the first book I have read by Sandie Jones. It started off a bit slow for me. The twist and turns were nice. Some predictable, others not. I’m a huge fan of mystery/thriller. And although I may not put this book directly in that category, it’s a decent read and will be reading more of her books.

I liked this book but I think I would have enjoyed it more had I knew what I was getting into. This book is certainly not a thriller/mystery and is basically like a family drama. For my tastes I just did not like that. I think this book is fine. There is nothing remarkable about it and it is a little predictable. There is some mystery elements but honestly is was not enough for me. I kind of struggled to finish and I found that I just did not care enough about the characters. This book just did not work for me, but I think that there could be some people out there who might enjoy it. The lack of an original plot and the fact that it felt a little melodramatic at times caused me to not enjoy this. This is the first book I have read by Sandie Jones and I still want to check out some of her previous work.

Many thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the review copy!

I received an early copy from the author via Net Galley...and she does not disappoint! She had me all over with my thoughts of this and that and WOW. I am vague so as not to reveal any spoilers. Her characters were detailed and all played such important rolls...Katie, Lauren, Matt and Simon to name a few. Definitely grab a copy once available for you won't be able to put it down.

"The Half Sister" is a mystery book that will keep you guessing to the very end! Kate, Lauren, and their whole family are having their traditional Sunday dinner when there's a knock at the door, and a surprise sister shows up. Weaving this storyline along with Kate's IVF battles and Lauren's abusive marriage, the author will leave you wondering who this woman really is. I read this book in one sitting, eager to unravel the mystery. My only complaint is that everything was resolved a little too quickly in the end and I would have liked a bit more explanation. Overall, this was a wonderful book!

Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC. All opinions are my own.

I needed a thriller that would take my mind off the stress in my life, and I knew to look for Sandie Jones for this. I simply could not put this book down. I didn't see the ending coming, but it also felt believable. One of her best!

I have a confession to make. I really did not like The Other Woman, the Reese Witherspoon book club pick by this author. It annoyed me so much that I couldn't finish it. I almost passed this one up but the synopsis sounded really good so I thought why not? World of difference in the two books! Unlike TOW, I actually liked the main characters in this book. The alternating POV between the sisters was a great choice as we watch new sister Jess upend their lives. I've seen the DNA plot device used in other novels with varying success, but it works well here. So while TOW might not have been my personal cup of tea, I'm glad I gave this author another chance. The Half Sister is a timely, suspenseful book that kept me guessing til the end.

Wow. I literally just finished The Half Sister and thoroughly enjoyed every minute—one of those books that you don’t want to end. However, I loved, loved, LOVED the ending! This is the second book I’ve read by this author and at this point, I would read anything that she writes. This story had so many twists and turns. I thought I figured it out multiple times, and was eagerly surprised at every turn. The characters were so well developed and relatable- I could feel emotion for every one of them. The plot was interesting and not far-fetched. Looking forward to going back and reading The First Mistake. Read The Half Sister as soon as you can— you will definitely not be disappointed!

Thank you to Netgalley and St. Martin's Press for a gifted copy of The Half Sister by Sandie Jones.

How well do you know your family? Kate and Lauren meet every Sunday for lunch at their mom's house. To Kate, Lauren's life looks perfect and to Lauren, Kate's life looks perfect. After losing their father recently they are trying to hold the family together and continue family traditions until the day there is a knock on the door. Jess claims to be looking for their father and she claims to be their half sister. Each sister had a different relationship with their father. One was super close and one struggled with her relationship with him. Will their relationship with each other be able to survive Jess? Could Jess really be their sister?

The story is told by both Lauren and Kate. This is a family full of secrets and complicated relationships. None of the characters were extremely likable individually but together I could not stop reading. I had to know what was going to happen next. There are some great twists, turns, and surprises.

This is my third book by Sandie Jones and at this point I will read anything she writes. I am looking forward to her next book.
