This is another twisty thriller story. You know dad’s dead and mom doesn’t talk about things when a “half sibling” shows up on your door. It was a fine read.

Thank you to the Publisher and Netgalley for the advanced e-reader copy. All opinions expressed are my own.

A story of two sisters who have completely opposite lives. Then one day the sisters are in for a shock when an unexpected visitor shows up claiming to be their half-sister. With a deceased father and a mother who won't talk about it, the sisters have to try and figure out if this half-sister is who she claims. Lots of twists but I really wanted more excitement.

I have LOVED Sandie Jones previous books, and just like the others, this book was absolutely amazing! What a suspenseful, edge of your seat novel!! I was definitely shocked right up to the last page! Loved the suspense and the storyline! Can't wait to read more books by her!!

AHHHHH!!!! What kind of ending was that?!? Omg. So frustrating.
I think this has got to be my least favorite Sandie Jones book. She is one of my favorite authors but this book seemed more like a family drama than anything else. This would probably make a good Hallmark mystery.
The entire time, I disliked Rose more and more with each appearance. She was constantly changing her story and playing the blame game. She denied everything a little too hard.
As for Kate, she drove me nuts too! She just acted like there was absolutely no way her dad could do any wrong. Plus idk if it was the hormones or what, but some of the stuff she did was just too much.
Lauren - I felt bad for her for the most part. Except when she made poor decisions. I guess I can’t really blame her with her psycho husband and jerk parents.
This was a fast read, which I was thankful for. My review is probably about 2.5 rounded up. I was just expecting more mystery or suspense. Or something.

Pretty good. More of a family drama than a thriller, would definitely recommend to those that prefer that style

Jones will keep you up wondering where baby Jess came from and who her real parents are! She wraps tells you think you have figured out but let you in shock!

I loved the Other Woman, so I was a bit disappointed that The Half Sister was somewhat predictable family-drama. The idea of the plot had potential, but it felt a bit flat. There were quite a bit of outlandish story points that I could not look past. The story was fast-paced, but the last quarter just did not do it for me. The author is a gifted write, but this was not a good follow-up to the success of The Other Woman.

I did enjoy this book, but it wasn't my favorite of Sandie Jones. There was definitely some thrills that had me on the edge of my seat, but at the end, it was a bit predictable. It was a slow start, but toward the middle it definitely picked up speed. Still an enjoyable read for thriller fans and will make you think twice about those mail in DNA tests ;)

Love the book cannot wait for her next one. I love thrillers so I knew this would be right up my alley

This book didn’t feel special or shocking, or engaging really. It felt like so many other books I’ve read and was kinda tired out as a concept. Overall it didn’t work for me.

*Thanks to Minotaur Books and NetGalley for the complimentary copy for my honest review*

I have read and loved all of Sandie Jone's books and this one didn't disappoint at all. This had tons of family drama, secrets, and twists and turns. This was a very fast read that hooks you in from the beginning with all of the mysteries of the half-sister and I couldn't put this book down. Very captivating read for fans of her other works.

I love Sandie Jones books. Her writing and attention to details always completely amazes me. She give so much in her books which makes them enjoyable. The characters, the secrets and the the lies made this book so well written. My only draw back is that it took me a quarter of the way in to really get into it.

This book was very suspenseful. It reminded me of a movie that you can’t tear your eyes away from the screen.

This book was off-the-wall and not in a good way! Definitely my least favorite book of the year so far and I’m not one to say something like that.

Sunday lunch has always been a routine fixture for the quaint little family of four. Both daughters, Kate and Lauren make every effort to come sit and chat with their mom, especially after their father passed away. It’s not even been a year with him gone, and they all miss him dearly. He was the glue they held them all together.

But, this particular Sunday there’s a knock at the door and there on the doorstep stands a woman, spitting image of Lauren, claiming to be their half-sister. All three jaws drop. Her name is Jess and she’s 21 years old.

“She feels sick, unable to watch any longer as this girl, who she didn’t know existed until a few weeks ago, wrecks her world, piece by piece.”

This upsets the see-saw, and instead of two sisters constantly at war with one another, now there’s three. But who is the real liar here? For Kate, her dad was her very best friend and he could do no wrong. Lauren believes every single word that her mom has to say about this encounter, and points the blame at their Dad. But, there’s more than one betrayal going on here, everyone has a secret. So who is going to pull the rug out from the other first?

“That’s the difference between you and me, Lauren. I trusted Dad with all my heart, and I will continue to do so until my dying day.”

“If she realized that maybe he wasn’t the man she thought he was, she might not feel his loss so profoundly.”

The sisters are envious of one another, each desiring a life that they can’t have. Lauren would love a night out; a bit of freedom from her abusive husband and three needy kids. Whereas, Kate and her husband have been desperately trying to conceive to no avail.

“Aren’t you glad you're not me?”

“You’re exactly who I want to be...”

Are these feelings of hurt what is really dividing the family, or is someone hiding a past that they hoped the other would never find out? This family doesn’t come from money, so what is it that Jess wants after all of these years? Why now?

“You might discover something you don’t want to find.”

This was such a let- down after how much I loved her debut “The Other Woman” and gave it 5 stars. My friends and I read this as a buddy read and all agreed that there were too many angles, twists, theories; reveals, which took the reader all over the place. This was a fast-paced, enjoyable thriller until the last 25% where everything and everyone went haywire. It felt like the author brainstormed a bunch of great ideas and instead of picking one or two, just decided to add them all. I had whiplash.

Just, no ...don’t do it.

2 ⭐️.

SPOILERS BEWARE:

The things that didn’t have to be included in this book : the abusive husband, the affair at the workplace with Jess and Finn (who?) , the abortion, Julia’s murder, the ending where they debate about inviting her over ( say what?), the attempted baby kidnap, the entire baby room at Jess’s house that was never explained...I could go on and on....

Thank you to NetGalley, Minotaur Books and Sandie Jones for this E- Arc in exchange for an honest review.

I received an advanced reading copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. This book is told through the eyes of Lauren and Kate. Lauren and Kate are sisters who seem to have a strained relationship. Kate who has great memories of her late father and Lauren who does not. One afternoon while Kate and Laurens families are having lunch at their mothers house there is a knock at the door. When the door is answered there is a girl by the name of Jess that is there. She is looking for Kate and Laurens father. Jess believes that this man is also her father.

As the book goes on, it is apparent that everyone's stories are not adding up. Jess doesn't appear to be who she says she is, Lauren has a past full of secrets, and Kate is on a journey to figure out the truth. At one point, I thought I had the whole book figured out. I thought it was going to be a typical suspense book because all directions were pointing to the theory I had come up with. But, I was wrong and didn't see the ending of the book coming.

I am a fan of Sandie Jones writing. I have read several other books she has written and enjoyed them all. I would read another book by this author and recommend this book to any reader looking for a quick suspenseful read!

THE HALF SISTER is an entertainingly twisted read. Jones shines as she plays with secrets and lies surrounding her characters.

This book was neither awful or great. The premise of coming across a lost sibling in the age of DNA testing is a good one, but at times it felt like everything was thrown at the plot to see if it stuck.

I wasn't too big of a fan of The First Mistake, but then The Other Woman was really good. Of course, I gave this one a shot. This book isn't even a thriller, it's just messy family drama. Ugh. No thanks.
