Sarah is going on holiday with her sister, a surprise holiday for Sarah but she is expecting a relaxing luxury break. What she gets couldn't be further from this, but as she does relax and start to spend more time with Rick who runs the conservation project she starts to enjoy it.
She tries to help out with issues Rick and his family are having with the island, but is her help wanted?
An enjoyable read in a great setting.
Funny, interesting, eye-opening book.
When Amy books a summer holiday after a lottery win and doesn’t let her sister know where they’re going, her sisters under the impression they’ll be in a lovely hotel, waited on and enjoy the lovely sea, have fun and relax.
But, reality is something she was never expecting. They arrive at an island where they have to live in shacks, and help feed, clean animals and their homes. Reading it, made me think of I’m A Celebrity.
Rick who runs the area on the island along with others doesn’t take to Sarah, who unlike her sister hates it and wants to leave.
But she decides to stay, so she’s trying her best to like what she has to do.
Rick, and his family are having financial troubles and Sarah decides to try and help and suggests some changes, these don’t go down to well.
Temperatures rise and things are said in heated arguments.
Sarah and her sister clear the air. Loved Chatty.
Loved this book. Would recommend it.
A perfect read to escape everything that’s going on in the world just now! A good lighthearted read, where the main focus is the relationship between Sarah and Amy, two sisters, secondarily was the romance and friendships. Nice to see the focus being on family, again needed in this scary time
this story begins with two sisters, sarah and Amy. Amy wins £5,000 and decides to take her and her sister on a magnificent rip of a lifetime for looking after her since their mother died as a thnak you, However after 22 hours of travelling to the other side of the world with her oversized luggage she relaises all isnt right with what she sees to what shes expecting. 5 star luxury on the beach rooms vs ramshackle geological site, a differene in what you want for a holiday..... Arriving at seagrass island is making Sarah want to get back onanother flight home because she really cannot cope with this for much longer than she has to. As time goes on, Sarah changes her mind, i guess it helps theres a young man who is checking on the group.
I dont want to spoil this read so i would suggest you find a beach, go somerhere you enjoy and let the pages flow.
A great summer read.
Thank you to netgalley and Aria fiction for this early book .
Samantha Tonge doesn't disappoint in a story that seems to cover ever emotion. Yes there are laugh out loud moments but there are also some tender soul searching moments too.
Sarah left home at 18, making a life for her and her sister Amy. She works in a hotel but really wants to move into the luxury side of hotel life, however her every decision is made to make a safe and comfortable life for her and sister. When Amy wins some money on the lottery she decides to spend it on a holiday for them both. She keeps the destination a surprise but decides to give Sarah a trip not connected with her job. A lot of research must have gone into the island and surrounding area, which made the book more interesting. I would recommend this book to anyone wanting more than just a boy meets girl romance.
Summer Island Swap is an easy to read, enjoyable story about Sarah, who is dreaming of the perfect relaxing get-away with her sister. In exchange, she is on a conservation trip for one month (her sister secretly swapped trips before they were set to go). Sarah had been let go from her job working the day before their departure, which she keeps hidden from everyone.
As time goes on, Sarah grows to love the island and the grandson of the owner. How does it end? Read and see! A good summer read.
Thank you to NetGalley & Aria Fiction for the chance to preread this fun summer story. Looking forward to reading more from Samantha Tonge
When Sarah’s sister Amy, wins £5,000 on the Lottery, she decides to treat them both to a month long luxury holiday. Sarah’s looked after Amy since their mother died when they were young. This is Amy’s way of saying thank you to her. Unfortunately Sarah’s dreams of living in the lap of luxury are rudely token, when they arrive at Seagrass Island.
I really enjoyed this book, it’s got everything - sun, sea, sand, a handsome conservationist and romance.. Its really easy reading, with a very satisfactory ending. I’m hoping there will be further books from this author, I’d definitely read it.
'If you want God to laugh, tell him your plans.' That's kind of the epitome of this book for the main character, Sarah. Everything that happens in the book goes against what she has planned, or in mind, to occur. And yet, it all works out for her in the end better than her plans! I would be interested to see if there is a follow up featuring her sister and bringing back some of the main, lovable, characters...especially Chatty!
I'm becoming quite a fan of travel romances and this book delivered exactly what I was after. Definitely a good beach read. Sarah wasn't as vapid as some chicklit protagonists and I really felt for her - and her relationship with her sister felt very genuine. Sarah also had some deep issues to grapple with. I appreciated seeing those issues dealt with.
My worst nightmare of a holiday but so funny how they struggle and then it all comes together at the end to make it the best holiday
This book was so good! The characters were so well rounded, you felt like you actually knew them! The plot was so good you didn't want the book to end!
