Scott is a new writer for me and I'm pretty sure I'll be reading more. I enjoyed the writing and the story line. Tension and mystery held up through even slower parts. This is a solid book and one I'd easily recommend. If you like a well drawn out plot with lots of twists and turns, pick this up!
I wanted to like this novel. The premise sounded intriguing and like it would have plenty of twists and turns.
While it was not quickly clear who the suspect was, it was also not easy to dive into the book. It took me multiple chapters to understand what was going on. The introduction to the individual characters was confusing and did not guide the reader into the story.
Other parts of the plot felt contrite or implausible. Even when explained later, it didn't feel like the issue was completely wrapped up.
There was promise, but unfortunately felt poorly executed for me.
This was such a good, fast-paced thriller! I was hooked from the beginning! The chapters are kept quite short in this book, which helps to propel the story forward at a quick place. Often the reader finds themselves with a cliffhanger during one of the narratives, which naturally means you must keep reading! I love when authors use this technique to keep the story interesting. Such a good read!
I wanted it like this one but I made it about 30% and just could not get into it. I think the mystery of it all with each character’s back story took too long to get started and I got bored and put it down and don’t plan to finish
This story kept me guessing! Whenever I thought I had figured out where it was going, it took a turn! Although I was entertained, there were a few things that I just couldn’t get on board with- the character of Charlotte just seemed so naive and gullible. Obviously there had to be some of that for the story to work but I felt I wasn’t really rooting much for her. Having both detectives POVs was too much, just one would have worked. Lastly, it seems so small but the fact that the friends kept referring to each other as “honey” drove me crazy. Once or twice fine, but it must have been used 5+ times in one conversation and was a huge distraction. Overall, the story was good - just a few too many details that left me underwhelmed.
Unfortunately I was unable to get into this one. I tried to read it but it wasn’t for me in this case. I appreciate the opportunity to read it.
Great book. Highly recommend and will most defiantly read more by this author and suggest to others!
Great who done it with some amazing plot twists and turns. I would the main character a bit gullible but generally enjoyed the book.
I am sorry for not reviewing fully but I don’t have the time to read this at the moment. I believe that it wouldn't benefit you as a publisher or your book if I only skimmed it and wrote a rushed review. Again, I am sorry for not fully reviewing!
I will probably never travel again without thinking about In Case of Emergency by E.G. Scott. What a thrilling read! Will be purchasing for the library's collection.
I highly recommend this book. Different than what I normally read and completely unputdownable.
Thank you to Netgalley for allowing me the thrill of reading early.
I had high hopes for In Case of Emergency because I loved E.G. Scott's The Woman Inside. The story is told in a multi-character point of view with alternating chapters, which I really like. However, I didn't connect with any of the characters and struggled to finish the book. I look forward to the authors' next book and hope to enjoy that one as much as I did The Woman Inside. Thank you to NetGalley and Dutton Books for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
The story was a bit slow moving in the beginning with many different characters revolving through the story. Once it picked up, there were many twists and the characters made sense. Thank you @netgalley for the opportunity to read this ARC!
Really wanted to love this one because The Woman inside was such a gripping thriller. This one is great, fast-paced, but fell a little flat for me. Still an enjoyable and binge-worthy read.
This was an enjoyable, quick read with the interesting plot twists, told through multiple POV narrators.
The plot twist which explains the book title was a very interesting premise.which really builds up the physiological thriller aspect of the story.
In Case of Emergency was a wild ride with all the twists!
I loved going into this with little knowledge of the synopsis and felt it was overall an enjoyable read. I did figure out the twists but still thought it was a clever read.
Charlotte has found herself with a career that has taken a nosedive and decides to attend an online support group. When her friend Rachel starts dating Peter, he goes missing, and it puts Charlotte a person of interest.
*many thanks to Dutton and Netgalley for the gifted copy. All opinions are my own
I really enjoyed this one. It was clever, entertaining, and I love this duos writing style. It was an interesting concept.
Thank you to NetGalley, E.G. Scott and Dutton publishing for the free e-book in exchange for an honest review.
I really enjoyed this novel and I wasn't really sure where it was going, but I was in for the ride. I did find some of the transitions to other characters sometimes confusing, especially between the two detectives, but it did keep things from getting stale. It was a completely different idea behind this novel and it was really nice to see a more holistic approach to medicine put into a novel. There were quite a few twists in this novel that I really didn't see coming and actually quite enjoyed.
Do they found Charlotte’s name and phone number on the dead woman, but that doesn’t mean Charlotte was her emergency contact. Charlotte has a practice, could someone have given the woman Charlotte’s business card?
Hated the silly, meaningless dialogue in the book. What do I care about Charlotte’s clients? Really.
And what’s up with this secret boyfriend that would simply show up to visit you without calling first? Like, you were there just waiting for him 24/7?
Very ridiculous plot.
Thank you Netgalley for providing me with a free copy of this title.

I tried to read this and also tried to listen to the audio book and really struggled with the story line, dialogue and characters.
I cannot get past the dialogue that just needed to be edited a bit more for usage and readability. The over use of “honey” from multiple characters were very distracting as well and really took away from the message.
When I found out this was written by two people, it made sense how the story did not weave seamlessly. It did feel like two people wrote it and just did not seam well.
I am so disappointed for not being able to push through after so many tries. I think this was just not for me in the end, however it may work out well for you. Do give it a try as the book had a promising storyline and premise that will definitely pique your interest.
