This book is practical, easy to read, and frankly a must-read for anyone who just needs a gentle nudge to make life improvements in easy, straightforward ways. Kendra doesn't give catch-all solutions---she gives strategies that help you find your own best solution in a way that helps you trust yourself more and come out having conquered a problem AND feeling confident in yourself and how you did it! Kendra is continually genuine and supportive throughout the book, sharing her own experiences honestly and encouraging the reader that they are enough. Her wisdom here is life-changing and simple. You WILL NOT regret taking the time to read this book. Be a genius about the things that matter and lazy about the things that don't---taking time to read this book is something that will really matter!

Goodness. This is the content I didn’t know I even needed. This is a very readable and relatable book about how to be lazy about unimportant or less important things, and genius about the important ones. I am re-examining so many areas of my hectic life in order to prioritize and focus most on the good stuff. I have since found the Lazy Genius podcast which I highly recommend as a daily listen.

Kendra's debut book was amazing! She provided you with 13 life-changing tips to help make your days as smooth as possible. Not only will her lazy genius ways help your life better, but it will allow more time and energy to focus on your purpose and your calling. I loved the layout of the book, with each chapter ending in a recap and one small challenge. Loved this book, and can't wait for more from Kendra!

I received and Advanced Readers Copy of this book from NetGalley, but all opinions expressed are my own.

I loved this book! Lots of great ideas that can be applied to a myriad of situations and life stages with zero judgement or pressure to be more than just myself! So glad there are authors like Kendra to help people without steamrolling over different priorities or ideals.

Kendra and this book are smart, funny, and so very practical. This book is very relevant to families with younger kids but we are empty nesters and there is really something for everyone no matter what stage of life. You can Lazy Genius anything and make your life - and how you want to live it - easier. No need to follow someone’s prescribed list of magical to-do’s. Just apply Kendra’s principles to the things that matter to you and ignore - be lazy - about the things that don’t. Genius Kendra! (Love her podcast The Lazy Genius too!)

⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ I found myself with an empty house on a Saturday afternoon, what did I do? Ahh yes, read a book! I’ve seen @thelazygenius floating around and being recommended on pages I follow, so I figured I would check it out. Thanks to @netgalley @thelazygenius and @waterbrookmultnomah for the copy of this book!! For me, it wasn’t anything perhaps mind blowing but it was a wonderful reminder and refocus. Since March, I’ve lived in survival mode...what’s coming next? Forget plans or routines? This book was a reboot of not only simplifying and organizing all aspects of life. But also, this book was a reminder about the power of perspective and most of all to be kind to ourselves! It was a quick and uplifting afternoon read!

I really enjoyed The Lazy Genius Way. There are many helpful tips to make your life easier and less stressful, but I think the most important takeaway for me was a change of mindset. Make decisions based on what matters to ME. It is so easy to get caught up in what we should do and how we should do it based on what others are doing. But I feel like I was just given permission to let all that go.

I plan to read this one again, and will probably buy myself a hard copy so I can highlight and make notes.

Thank you to NetGalley and WaterBrook for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I’ve been a fan of Kendra’s for years, and was beyond thrilled to read her first book! A self-help book that doesn’t tell you what to do, but how to look at your motives, and make the best choices for you. “Be a genius about the things that matter, and lazy about the things that don’t.” Full of practical helps and stories, but also full of grace and permission to be myself. I felt seen - but still loved, which is a delightful combo. Wish I could have given this to my new mom self a decade ago. Highly recommend. Thanks to NetGalley and Water Books for the arc.

This book! The Lazy Genius Way: Embrace What Matters, Ditch What Doesn't, and Get Stuff Done by Kendra Adachi. Wow, it is a must-read! ⁣

She is like the cool big sister that still likes you and helps you when she's a teenager and you're not.

I really enjoyed how calm and non-judgmental every chapter was. The "take it or leave it" stance is a warm and encouraging one!

This book isn't for you if your life and everything about it is smooth sailing. Nothing feels hectic and you still listen to all the advice that your cool big sister told you. (the good one, not the rebel!) If so, you can skip this one, but the other 99.99% of us will greatly benefit from this book!

I received an advanced reader copy from the publisher in exchange for my review.

I reviews on Barnes and Noble, too. Just taking several days to approve.

“Movement, not necessarily a finish line, is the new goal”

I would like to start off by saying thank you to NetGalley and WaterBrook & Multnomah for gifting me this eARC in exchange for an honesty review!

The Lazy Genius Way is about figuring out what is important to you and ignoring everything else. Some people love waking up at 5AM everyday and going for a run before work, but if you don’t than forget about it. You’re no less of a person. Some people think it’s important to keep their house looking brand new and spotless. If you like the more lived in look, then don’t feel guilty about inviting people over when it’s a little bit of a mess.

Kendra writes in such a fun and witty way that you feel like you’re getting advice from a close friend. She doesn’t make you feel bad for wanting the things you want, or for not caring about the things other people seem to think are crazy important.

I really liked her principle of “deciding once”. Out of everything in the book, I think this is the one thing I will actually put into practise. Make the same dinner every Sunday night to make the transition to the workweek easier. Where the same outfit every Monday to make Monday mornings easier, etc.

I found The Lazy Genius way very interesting and helpful at first but about halfway through I felt like I was reading the same information over again, just worded a different way.

Overall I did take away a few helpful tips from this book, and if you like self improvement books this is worth a read.

PS. Is putting beans in your chilli weird? I always thought beans were a main part of chilli, but Kendra made it sound like everyone thought she was crazy for doing it??

I wish this book was around when my kids were younger and still at home!

I stressed about "Mom Stuff": cooking, cleaning, school stuff, lunch, dinner, etc. The LGW and Kendra would have helped me so much. BUT you don't have to be a mom to learn life lessons from her-she's amazing that way!

Not great at cooking, like me, unless you have a step by step recipe? Kendra teaches how to rif and invent or adapt recipes yourself. WITHOUT the stress.

This isn't a "self help" book because Kendra just talks you through finding out what YOU want and what YOU love and how to make that a priority in life without failing at the other "must do" things.

Listen to her podcast and read this book!

I wasn’t sure if the book would be enough different from all the content on her podcast or blog, but it was 100% amazing. I can’t tell you the number of things I’ve highlighted or said “wow. Just wow. How did Kendra know what was bouncing around inside my head?” Loved it which is saying something because non-fiction “self-help” (it’s not really self-helpish) isn’t my jam but I loved this all the way to the end!

The Lazy Genius Way by Kendra Adachi is the book I wish I had when I became an adult and at every point along the journey of adulthood. It is the book I wish I had when I graduated college and started out on my own. It is the book I wish I had when I was newly married. It is the book I wish I had when I became a mom. It is also the book that I am so thankful to have in my hands now!

In The Lazy Genius Way Kendra gives small, practical steps to become a "genius" about the things that matter to YOU in a very gentle and conversational way. I love that she gives a ton of examples from her own life and the lives of others to make it easy to put the principles she describes into practice.

This is not a one size fits all self-help book. This book guides the reader into making decisions around what matters on a very personal level. It left me feeling hopeful and motivated to examine my own life, decide what matters to me and why and then implement steps towards becoming a genius in those areas of my life.

I'll be coming back to this again and again to revisit the principles and hear Kendra's pep talks to live in the season, let people in and be kind to myself.

If you pick one self-improvement/lifestyle book this year, I highly recommend The Lazy Genius Way. I have been listening to Kendra’s podcast for well over a year and I find her so calming and reassuring, but also so incredibly insightful about the little things in life. While you some of what Kendra shares in her book can be found within her podcast, it’s a bigger expansion on her principals for living a more meaningful and productive life. As a longtime listener to Kendra and her weekly Instagram live chat sessions, I read this whole book with her voice in my head. She has an audiobook version of this available with her as the narrator and I can’t wait to give it a listen.

The layout of the book is excellent. Each of her thirteen principles has its own chapter. Along with plenty of real-world examples, each chapter ends with a summary section and one small step to think about and focus on. Kendra has talked openly about her requirement that the book be a quality hardbound that will be used and written in and she’s exactly right-so many times I found myself adding in notes and bookmarks.

One of the best parts of this book is the way that Kendra can apply all of these principles to literally every part of life. Lazy Genius Principle #2 is Start Small. She uses the example of a beginning a yoga practice but it also applies to wanting to start your own business or beginning a garden. It has given me so many things to think about and a new perspective that has been especially helpful during these crazy times. Whether you are a parent, an adult, a person just starting out in college, or even on the older side, this book will be helpful. I truly believe that everyone will find something thought provoking and insightful.

One thing you will not find on any of the pages is guilt or shame. Kendra’s focus on finding what truly matters to you as a guiding focus is literally that-what matters to you. Not to the other moms, social media, or your friends and family. What matters to you.
I received an advanced copy of this title as part of Kendra’s launch team. All opinions and mistakes are my own.

The Lazy Genius Way is a helpful guide to getting out of your rut, figuring out what really matters, and tackling life one small step at a time. Kendra does not prescribe one single method or 'way' of doing things, but instead asks questions of her readers to help them determine their priorities. Knowing and embracing what matters helps put everything else in focus. As a perpetually indecisive person, her chapter on "making one decision" was empowering and life giving. This book is one I will revisit as I learn to focus on the big things and let the other 'noise' fade away.

This is a wonderful and practical book that helps you identify and make time for *your* priorities, while giving you strategies for getting everything else done more efficiently, and with a better attitude! The principle that I need the most right now is "Live in the Season."

"You don't have to be afraid of stress or sadness. You don't have to panic when things fall out of order. You don't have to run away from a season in life that seems to require more than you have to give. Staying engaged with the sadness but not letting it dictate your decisions is a practice in being a genius about what matters."

"We become a generation of woman who are at peace with who we are, who encourage one another to move closer to our deepest identities and shed what's in the way". This is just one of many quotes I could pull from this book. Kendra is here to help us Lazy Genius our way through life, in ways that work for us. She reiterates many times that we need to plan & live in the season we're in and do what works for that season. Kendra infuses this book with humour and personal stories that make you feel like you are sitting down with a friend. Even if you are a follower of her podcast and blog you will still gain many useful nuggets. Check it out!

Kendra Adachi is the QUEEN of figuring out systems for all those things that drive you crazy about managing your home. My kids are young adults and have both moved out now, but I wish I had this book 25 years ago when I first was married. It would have saved my sanity. Not only will she teach you how to be smart about the things that YOU need taming in your life (laundry, dinner, holidays), but she does it with a sense of humor that leaves you not wanting to turn the book down. This was the best book I've read this summer, and I know I'll come back to it again and again.

Kendra really is a genius and her book is delightful. She gives you smart strategies to manage your home and your life without making you feel like you have to have everything together. I already have tried several of her suggestions, and they are (of course) genius. I know I will be returning to this book often.

I loved "The Lazy Genius Way" because it is practical and inspirational. It has been highlighted and notes taken of things I want to apply to my life. And the way Kendra writes, it made me laugh at times. It is a book that anyone can apply to their own life.
