Kendra Adachi has written a book that has changed my life forever. The first chapter left me feeling like I had just left an in-depth counseling session. Her principals for living a Lazy Genius life are simple to understand and implement. She speaks in a way that makes the reader feel that they can ACTUALLY make changes in their life, without completely turning their life upside down. Her honest, heartfelt stories were wonderfully told. This is not a step-by-step self-help book. Rather, Kendra has written a book of principles to guide you. Because each of us have different priorities and challenges to overcome, we each will take different paths to change. I loved everything about this book, and I will be sharing it with all of my friends and family.

I have been a listener of The Lazy Genius podcast for several years. The book absolutely compliments the podcasts, but doesn’t replace them. A reader will not feel lost if they’ve never heard of this author’s work before picking up this book, and they will not feel like the book is redundant if they have been following Kendra’s work for years.
Powerful, practical, potentially life changing and attainable. This book is a must-read.

In "The Lazy Genius Way", Kendra Adachi offers many helpful tips for helping your life and household run more smoothly. I appreciated her practical advice and the encouragement that you can just make one small change, rather than overhauling everything at once. I believe that many readers (women especially) will benefit from reading this book!

Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC. All opinions are my own.

I've been a big fan of Kendra's work for several years. so I knew right away I would want to read her first book. What I didn't expect was how deeply moving this book was for a so-called self help book. Rather than prescribing specific hacks to perfect your life, Kendra teaches her readers how to name what matters TO YOU, so you can relax into YOUR best life -- not hers or anyone else's. "Little did I know you can be just as exhausted from not trying as you can from trying too hard," she says. Kendra's compassionate, understanding, soothing tone simultaneously encourages us to be mindful around creating systems that work for us, while also giving us permission to ignore what isn't helpful. I thought I knew how to be a Lazy Genius before, but now I feel fully equipped to approach any situation that comes my way using Kendra's practical principles. I can't recommend this book highly enough, no matter your age or stage of life. This book is for everyone!

Thank you to NetGalley and WaterBrook for the ARC.

The Lazy Genius Way is like Kendra Adachi's greatest hits album in book form! I truly enjoyed all the steps and tips to becoming a Lazy Genius about what matters to you. As a long time listener of The Lazy Genius Podcast, I was so happy to have the chance to read this wonderful book. I often find myself quoting her ideas and suggestions to my husband, friends, family, and basically anyone who will listen! This book is filled with humor and grace about making everyday life more simple and thoughtful. I am so grateful to have stumbled upon Kendra's writing years ago when I was searching for a Gilmore Girl's binge guide. As always, she weaves pop culture, everyday life, dreams, hopes, jokes, and totally genius tips into concise and entertaining life hacks. I feel this book and the suggested methods to being a Lazy Genius will be applicable to anyone who wants to stress less, be more present, and in touch with what truly matters to them.
(Thanks to the author, WaterBrook & Multnomah, and NetGalley for the advance ebook copy I received as part of The Lazy Genius Way launch team. These thoughts are all my own. )

I have been a fan of Kendra Adachi ever since I stumbled across her Lazy Genius podcast two years ago. Her approach to life is that sweet spot between practical and fun. I was anticipating The Lazy Genius Way to take the same approach, and I was not disappointed, I loved it!
Do you want to hear the truth from a dear friend? This book reads as if she's sitting across the table with you, sharing great strategies for problems we all face, but with a sense of humor throughout. She lays out her ideas for how to become a Lazy Genius in the framework of 13 principles, giving lots of fun stories to illustrate each one.
I expect to be referring back to these principles often to apply to life situations for a long time to come. Thanks Kendra!

Kendra Adachi has a charming personality in podcasting as well as in writing. Her book is helpful yet light. She does not preach about the specifics on how to get something done, just gently coaxes one to find their own solutions while listening to hers. Thank you to Net Galley for providing an early reading copy! Congratulations to the author on a book well done.

I have been listening to Kendra Adachi's The Lazy Genius podcast for a while now so I was thrilled to learn she was compiling her tips, tricks and strategies into a book. I was eagerly anticipating reading what wisdom she had to share!

The Lazy Genius Way is full of principles to help guide decision making. Each principle is clearly stated in its own section complete with witty anecdotes, action steps and plenty of encouragement. The key message is to be a Genius about what matters TO YOU and be Lazy about what doesn't. Reflect on what matters to you and your family and then utilize Kendra's principles to create systems and habits that will work for you.

My copy of The Lazy Genius Way is filled with bookmarks for things I want to try immediately and things I want to think more about before putting into place. The Lazy Genius Way is a book to refer to repeatedly - different seasons of your life will call for different routines.

I highly recommend The Lazy Genius Way! If you are not already subscribed to The Lazy Genius podcast, do so now! And,of course follow The Lazy Genius and Kendra Adachi on all the socials.

I have been listening to The Lazy Genius podcast for several years and was super excited when Kendra announced her book!
The Lazy Genius Way provides practical steps and personal stories to help you make changes to simplify your life. The first step is Decide What Matters, to you. Everyone’s life is different and the choices I make will be different than Kendra. The book does not try and tell you what to do, it gives practical advice that you can choose to apply.

An okay book...

"Telling yourself you're better than someone is just as harmful as telling yourself you're worse"

The book is very easy to follow as it uses a relaxed/colloquial language instead of the "I am more intelligent than you" language many nonfiction books tend to use. So you can read lots of pages in a short time, however, the book fails keeping us interested in the author's principles and sooner than later we feel that we are reading the same example for the 7th time.

"Not caring and caring too much leave you in the same place"

Some tips are useful (Decide Once), and some are not (live in the season). But I guess every person will feel different about this point. What we can't deny is that some principles are too obvious to even be on a book. Some are very repetitive too, not only from one Principle to another, but in the same Principle/chapter as well.

The footnotes are really unnecessary. I suppose that, as the reader, I decide whether to read them or not. But I shouldn't decide because they shouldn't even be there. They are annoying

If the book were shorter, I'd be more enjoyable.

"[...] it's easier to clean up a cup of spilled milk than it is to mend a second grader's hurt feelings"

The Best: The book is easy to follow. At the beginning.

The Worst Extremely repetitive after the first 30% or something.

About the Quoting: the book explicitly says we shouldn't quote it yet, and I ask the author and publisher to forgive me for breaking this "rule" but I do think that the quoting is a very important part of a book. A book that is worth to be quoted is a book that, usually, is worth to be read. And buy, of course. And I am sure that my fellow readers would agree with me.

If the book's author or publisher ask me to delete them then I'll do it. But I certainly believe that including quotes on a book's review helps that book to get more attention.

Absolutely loved this practical book from Kendra. Her voice is distinct and her ideas are so easy to implement yet profound in their significance.

I followed her on IG before so some of the tips here are old to me. They are all very useful though. It's practical and achievable. I would definitely recommend it to friends.

I have been a HUGE Kendra Adachi fan since I found her a few years ago. Her practical, honest (and extremely funny and relatable) voice shine through in everything she does (her podcast, Instagram posts, instagram lives, etc) and this book is absolutely no exception. I guess it's because I've listened to every single episode of the podcast that I basically heard her reading the book to me when I was reading it.

To be honest, there was almost nothing in the book that I haven't heard her say before in some format, but the 13 principals for how to be a lazy genius... they're genius. For lazies, like me. So even though there didn't seem to be much "new" content, it was laid out really well, in the true Kendra Adachi voice that I've come to know and love.

I received an electronic copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for a review. I was so excited to get this as I follow Kendra on IG and she is so practical with her advice and tips. This book is smart, practical and personal--helping you learn what works for you! Highly recommend!!!

I have followed Kendra Adachi's podcast, The Lazy Genius, for about a year now and recommend it to everyone I know--young adults just starting out, as well as empty-nesters who think they've seen and heard it all. When I first heard Kendra was writing a book, I automatically assumed it would be a lot of podcast episodes in written form. Boy, was I wrong! I was hooked by the first chapter, taking notes, highlighting ideas and journaling things that could possibly make my life a little easier while helping me focus on what's really important. Now in addition to recommending the podcast to whoever will listen, I am urging them to buy the book. Kendra is truly onto something here and hopefully a lot of people are listening. Who wouldn't want to be a genius about the things that matter and lazy about the things that don't?

4.5 out of 5 Stars.

*I received an advance copy thanks to NetGalley and being a part of the #LazyGeniusWay launch team.*

A beautiful and gentle book. Kendra holds your hands through each step and gives you permission to focus and prioritize what you need to make your life a little simpler. Her openness with her own life and her gentleness when speaking to the reader is heartwarming. The last chapter, HOW TO LIVE LIKE A LAZY GENIUS, specifically made me tear up, it felt like being hugged by a friend -
"...you are enough. You can stop trying to be the ideal, future you, carrying a load you were never meant to carry. Let go of the working, the listing, the striving - all the things you're doing to deserve the love of the people around you. You are enough."
If you need to hear that as much as I did, grab this book. Kendra is not here to shame you.

The structure of this books allows it to be read straight through or slowly taking in one principle at a time, one chapter a day/week/month. Now that I have read straight through, I plan to take one principle at a time and attempt to incorporate it into my life. This structure of the book was quite clever and helpful.

Only Four stars for one main reason, while it is applicable to so many, it is not applicable in my season. I am living with family while attending grad school which means that much of the decision making is not up to me. Of course, I did this intentionally so I could focus my mental energy on school. This book would best serve moms of young children and new homeowners, mainly around a late 20s to early 40s women demographic. However, I did just get engaged so it is possible that in the next year as I plan a wedding, graduate grad school, and move in my future husband, this book could prove immensely helpful. I look forward to finding out.

I am also curious as to how applicable this book will be, considering that it is being released in the middle of a pandemic. It may prove more applicable or less applicable, even by a principle by principle basis, due to this season.

What a treat! Great guide to be a genius about what matters and lazy about what doesn’t. To you. Make choices and take care for yourself and others. Allow them to make their own #lazygeniusway decisions.

I am actually living by these principals but I didn't know that till I've read the book. I've just thought that I am pretty organized and therefore lazy. Now I know that I'm just caring for things that matters to me.

So, hallelujah to Kendra and her sistematic approach to all that matters in our busy lives!

This will be a bestseller!

Must read!

The Lazy Genius Way is to worry about the things that matter and forget about the things that don’t. Kendra Adachi hosts the popular Lazy Genius podcast in which she talks about a bite sized way to be a lazy genius each week. This book tackles these popular topics in greater depth. The intended audience is female, mostly mothers, although anyone with a busy life will find useful nuggets to make their life operate more smoothly.

I’ve listened to many of the Lazy Genius podcasts and still found a lot of new, useful information in this book. I don’t think readers need to be podcast listeners in order to enjoy the book, but they may be inspired to listen after reading since they work so well together.

Kendra walks you through 13 Lazy Genius principles that will help you to create personalized solutions to your problems. Along the way she will remind you to be a genius about what matters and lazy about what doesn't. This book isn't going to tell you how to fix every stumbling block in your life, but it will give you the language and tools to make room for what matters to you. If you want a taste of the content, here are a few of the principles: Decide Once, Live in the Season, Build the Right Routines, and Be Kind to Yourself.

I have been a fan of Kendra Adachi from her podcast, The Lazy Genius, but after reading this book I'm a superfan. Kendra's personality shines through in her writing - she is witty, kind, and insightful. Checking this book out from the library one time won't be enough - you need to purchase a copy to mark up and revisit time and time again. I don't buy books (monkey face) but I pre-ordered this one months ago because I knew it would be life-changing.

To wrap this up, Kendra is your best friend, big sister, and life coach all in one. She isn't going to tell you exactly what to do but she's going to ask questions to help you focus on what matters to YOU. If you're tired of trying to do it all I encourage you to read this book and become a Lazy Genius. After all, "being a Lazy Genius isn't about doing more or less. It's about doing what matters to you."

Thank you to @netgalley and @waterbrookpress for the E-ARC. P.S. I pre-ordered this book before ever receiving the E-ARC. If you're at all tempted to purchase I recommend pre-ordering to get $122 in bonus content.

Kendra is one of my favorite internet voices. She is not someone preaching perfection, but someone telling us to name what matters and live our life the way we see fit.
“...Thankfully, that’s the gift of the Lazy Genius Way. You’re allowed to care. You’re allowed to know yourself and be yourself, to be real. You don’t have to be perfect, and you don’t have to give up. You simply get to be you.”

What a gift for someone to write a book not telling us how, but helping us define our “whys” so we can develop our own “hows”. As a fellow enneagram 1, so many of the principles Kendra lays out are second nature to me, but having the words to frame the ideas for myself and present them to those in my life is a gift. She has so thoughtfully laid how to to think through life’s situations that her wisdom applies to every stage and season of life.

“You know your life and your personality far better than I do, and therefore you are the best person to know what you need...Trust yourself.”

This is the manual for living the life you want that you need. All other self help books need not apply. Kendra gives you the building blocks for naming what matters to you and making that happen in small achievable steps.
