I received this book from netgalley.
I really loved this book. Dainelle is a great story teller. I couldn't put it down...
I loved the characters and didn't like some of them. I love the title and the cover to the story it fit's it. I recommend it.
The Wedding Dress starts out in the 1920's. The ultra rich and the stock market crash are just the beginning. Life is altered and the aftermath has an repercussions for generations to come. I wish each following generation had more details about the characters and their lives. Overall a good book but not one of my favorites.
Thanks to netgalley, Danielle Steel and the publisher for the ARC
Another fantastic read from Danielle Steel. I absolutely loved this story and couldn't put it down once I started.
The story takes place over a period of 80 plus years, many generations and historic events. The lives of the characters are strongly effected by the circumstances of their time and generation, but in the end it is family and love that are always there.
The story starts on the 1920s and tells the lives of Eleanor and her parents, happily living in their family's mansion in the luxurious lifestyle they are accustomed to. While Eleanor and the love of her life, Alex, are on their honeymoon, the stock market crash hits and they come back to find them and their families are completely destitute. Leaning on each other they slowly make a comfortable life for themselves, selling everything they can of their old life to survive. Besides some antiques and furniture, they hold on to her wedding dress. As time goes on more generations are born, lives are lost and the family continues to grow. The dress is passed down from generation to generation as a reminder of their family history and the love that binds them all.
This is a beautiful story of family, love, finding oneself, and never giving up on dreams. It deals with the stock market crash, drugs, technology boom, and everything in between. It is a story above and most of all about family, and one that will stay with the reader for awhile after the book is finished.
I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
Beautifully written, this novel follows the Deveraux women through four generations, from the late 1920’s to modern day. While at its heart a love story, it is so much. It showcases the strength of these women to survive, uplift their families, and even liberate themselves.
I have always loved generational family stories and appreciate that this one spanned multiple generations and had one stunning wedding dress that made an appearance for each woman. The transition from one woman’s story was done seamlessly and the overlap allowed the reader to fully experience each timeline.
Beyond the main focus on the women, the detail paid to their family was important. It made each storyline feel robust and was so easy to submerse myself in that character’s life.
This novel was enchanting and beautifully written, highly recommended.
Danielle Steel has done it again with her historical fiction book “The Wedding Dress”. We don’t get to pick the family we are born in to or the events life throws at us, but how we choose to handle them decides the way our lives turn out. The book takes the reader on a journey of the generations of a family. The members go from rich to poor to every stage in between. As usual, I wished this story was longer because I was vested in the family and would have loved a little more information of every generation. Overall a very well written five star story.
Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC of this book. We have readers at our library who read all of Danielle's books and will be excited to see this new release by a favorite author.
The Wedding Dress is the latest up-coming release by author Danielle Steel. She did an excellent job of stitching together the past and present, embroidering its sleeves with tales of courage, heartbreak and remarkable women, through a wedding dress.
Overall, I do wish the book was longer. I would have liked more details during each generation. It seemed too fast at times but overall it was a really good book.
Let me just say I haven’t read a Danielle Steel book I didn’t like. They’re easy reads and always have a happy ending. I feel like they are all Hallmark movies which sometimes I need.
Eleanor grew up a privileged young lady. When she was 18 and it was time for her Debutante ball, her parents spared no expense on her dress. Then when it was time for marriage, her wedding dress was even more extravagant. Eleanor was their only daughter marrying a great man, Alex.
During their Honeymoon, the stock market collapsed and Eleanors new husband and her parents lost everything. They had to sale all their property and their homes to simplify their lives. This brought on the Great Depression but Eleanor and Alex’s relationship prevailed through being broke and many other trials.
The story follows their entire life until their death well into their 80s. The example the set for their children and grandchildren influenced both generations in different ways. In the end, money isn’t everything. Eleanor and Alex proved that love conquers it all.
Thank you Netgalley for the ARC of The Wedding Dress. Another win for D.S.
This is a mutli-generational story that begins with Eleanor and Alex meeting and falling in love after the Spanish flu pandemic, and before the Great Depression. The story moves through history, showing how world and life events impact their family and relationships. A nice historical fiction read.

The Wedding Dess is classic Danielle Steel. I inhaled this book in one day. The parts about the Great Depression being the worst financial crisis ever in US history were ironic since the COVID crisis is surpassing that, I reflected that it was nice to know things would improve while reading the book because currently I don't have the luxury of knowing that. There were ratfink characters in the book, some were redeemable, some weren't. The story focuses on an exquisite wedding dress, made in 1929 and worn by three generations. The dress is like the family, weathered the storms of life, needed few alterations, but was classic enough to be worn by different personalities, despite the different eras.
A beautiful generational saga as only Danielle Steel can do it!
Such a wonderful epic story! The highest of highs and the lowest of lows of four generations of this family spanning almost a century.
Beginning in the height of the 20s, Eleanor Devereux is having her lavish debutante debut and then her even more lavish perfect wedding to the man of her dreams. But for that wedding she must have the most perfect wedding dress ever. Specially made for her in Paris, she is the most beautiful bride ever. Her wedding day is perfect but while on her honeymoon in Italy the stock market crashed sending the country into the Great Depression. Her family and her new husband have lost almost everything.
Building their lives from nothing, we follow on with her daughter, her daughter's daughter and her great-granddaughter.
It's a beautiful, heartwarming and heartbreaking journey through this family's generational timeline. And the life of this beautiful wedding dress.
I loved it so, so very much!! Have tissues ready...your eyes may leak while reading this.
I have been reading some pretty heavy books lately so it was nice to read a love story with a happy ending or many happy endings. This book about a wedding dress, designed in Paris, for Eleanor about to marry the love of her life Allen. They meet in 1929 at her debut ball, have a fairytale wedding and during their idyllic honeymoon in Europe the market crashes. Eleanor's father and Allen, who are both bank presidents, lose everything. A great deal of the book that follows is how these two couples deal with the loss of almost everything on their lives without losing each other or their love. Love and the Parisian wedding dress are the constants in this story.
The reason I gave this book 4 stars is because it was a tad too pat and it felt rushed. I felt it was a great story and there could have been 3 or 4 books created out of this one book. Charles and Louise, Eleanor and Allen the early years and the great depression and the war years, Eleanor and Allen the later years, Ruby and Zach, Kendall and Ross, etc. I just wanted to know so much more about the charectors. The book was too short. I would like to thank Netgalley and the publisher for the chance to read and review this book.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
When I saw the cover I knew I needed to read this beautiful story. This epic historical fiction novel follows a close knit family though four generations. The love story begins with following Eleanor and Alex as they plan a fairytale lavish wedding. Eleanor goes to Paris and they create the most gorgeous wedding gown which will be passed down from generation to generation. You follow this family through the decades facing tragic loss and despair mixed in with some of the happiest of moments too. This is a story of hope, love, and never giving up. It will stir up so many emotions and will remind you that you must keep fighting when you think you may have lost the battle. This book came to me at the perfect time. I fell in love with the characters and am in awe with how such a heartbreaking and heartwarming story could give me hope in what is happening in our own world today.
Thank you so much to NetGalley for this early release of such a wonderful book for my honest review. I highly recommend checking this book out as it hits the shelves in just a couple of weeks!

I really enjoyed this book. It gave the history of the wedding dress and how it was worn in the wedding of her granddaughter. Loved it
Epic American Family Saga
This wonderful story spans a century of family. The loves and losses and the common thread of family keep the story pulsing. My only complaint was that I wished the book was twice as long. I received this ARC book for free from Net Galley and this is my honest review.
Another 5 star bestseller for the amazing storyteller Danielle Steele!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will never tire of her novels and am always amazed how great each one is. In my opinion it is amazing that she has written as many books as she has and each one is different from the last and just as great.
This new book is about a beautiful wedding dress that starts in the 1920's and spans the length of time throughout the 20th century and stays in the same family at that. This story is also of the 3 extraordinary women who wore this wedding dress. Prepare to enjoy yet another great one from the legendary author Danielle Steele. Thank you to Netgalley and Random House Publishing for my honest review
This is not your typical Danielle Steel book, and I found that refreshing. Yes, there is love, grief, tragedy like many others, but this book was deeper and and the characters are more developed. This book spans 5 generations of This is not your typical Danielle Steel book, and I found that refreshing. This book spans 5 generations of women from before the Great Depression to modern day Silicon Valley. There was a lot of good detail as the book covers many historical events, and yes, a beautiful wedding dress too. The storyline with Eleanor and Alex was heartwarming. I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
This is historical romance dating from the 1920’s to modern time. This almost reads like a history book, first,’then, then,, then...with minimal time in between events, minimal descriptions before going on to the next. Typical of this author...rich rich rich...famous places visited, gorgeous clothes, shops, homes....that being said, th scene when the young husband comes home from the war is heart touching...just a quick read. Readers who enjoy historical fiction about the Depression might enjoy reading this one...through tragedy, comes strength.
Thank you NetGalley, Danielle Steel for allowing me to read an ARC of this wonderful book. This is a historical romance that takes place from the 1920’s to present day. It take place all over Europe and California. This is the story of Eleanor and Alex . It starts with Eleanor’s debutante ball where she meets Alex who is a successful banker, they are instantly attracted to each other and soon fall in love and are married. On their honeymoon a tragedy occurs which changes theIr lives and the lives of their families. They have to learn to live their lives and move on and find ways to become successful in this new reality. They discover that family and traditions are what matters. This story reminds me of Danielle Steel’s earlier books which are my favorite. I give this story 5 stars. Way to go Danielle Steel !
I loved the premise of the book, but with she had focused more on Eleanor. She kind of went to the way side. And I wish she had not been portrayed as ‘wimpy’, she should have been portrayed as a strong woman.
