Alex, a documentary filmmaker, is looking for something she can film that will resurrect her floundering career. A postcard is sent to her producer that suggests Blackwood Bay, a little village in England, may be the place for Alex to film. Alex is reluctant to go to Blackwood Bay but doesn’t know why. This novel was okay. There were a lot of intriguing circumstances but as a whole there was too much going on.

Thank you to Netgalley and HarperCollins Publishers for this free ARC.

If you like your thrillers to have a twisty ending, then this book is for you. It did drag in a few spots and had a few to many names to keep track of at one time. Besides that, it kept you guessing on what was really going on in the small town.

I was so excited to get this, after loving Before I go to Sleep. However, this just fell short for me. I was initially confused by the start and it was very slow at picking the pace up. It just wasn't enough of a page turner for me. The premise was good but I think it lacked the execution. Thank you netgalley and the publisher.

I'm sorry to say I found this novel disappointing in almost all respects. The plot is formulaic and filled with mystery fiction cliches. The characters -- the many, many characters -- are almost all underdeveloped. The story revolves around a teenage girl who supposedly committed suicide 10 years before, but we never learn anything of interest about her, so she never seems real. The quality of the prose is excellent, though, and the descriptions of the bleak setting are evocative.

A well written and well plotted psychological thriller. This is so fast paced, it moves at breakneck speed. Another great thriller from this author.

While a little predictable, I thought that this book had a well-developed plot. Watson has done it again! As someone who reads a lot of books in this genre, I found myself predicting the main character's next move. However, there was one plot twist that Watson reveals toward the very end of the book that I did NOT see coming. I couldn't have been more pleased with this!

Thrillers are quite popular in our library's readership and this one falls quite nicely into the category of What Patrons Want. The author does a wonderful job with setting; the frequent and descriptive mentions of the ocean almost create another presence or character in the story. The sea is ever-watching, it's salty and gritty and sets a grim mood matched nicely with the suspense of the girls' plight. I do not think the characters are well-developed, there are unnecessary details and the plot is formulaic. Still, fans of the genre will dive right in.

I had high expectations for this book because I loved Before I Go to Sleep, but unfortunately that wasn't the case. I didn't really care for the characters and the plot was one that I have read before.

I received this ARC from Netgalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest review.

I wanted to love this book because I loved Before I Go to Sleep, but unfortunately it fell a little flat for me. The plot was very predictable and repetitive and the main character was not very likeable. I was really expecting a lot more.

Another can't-put-down mystery from SJ Watson! This one, in my opinion, was not as strong at others, but still a good read for anyone who likes a mystery. This isn't spoiling anything, but the plot revolves around a woman with amnesia. I find that trope a bit used-up, but there were still some good twists and turns in this novel that kept me guessing!

I'm not doing a review of this book. I loved his first book, thought the 2nd was just ok. Did not finish this one.

Very suspenseful. The author pulls you in right from the start and then slowly adds on the suspense until the surprise ending.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC. Unfortunately, I can not recommend this book. There was nothing interesting or innovative here. I have read many books just like this with the missing girl who goes back to her hometown and solves the mystery. I expected more from this author as I loved Before I Go to Sleep.

Ever since Watson's Before I Go to Sleep, I've enjoyed his novels. They are edgy, suspenseful, and gripping. I always feel like I am on the edge of my seat when I'm reading them. This book was no exception.

In this novel we are introduced to a young documentary filmmaker, Alex. As her next project, Alex travels to Blackwood Bay in England. While there, it is her intention to record the stories of the villagers. However, what she is met with next is far deeper and far darker than she ever could have imagined.

This book rocked me! I couldn't sleep! I was truly engrossed with the plot and the the characters, particularly Alex. I felt both the plot and the characters arc increased in tandem. This was an excellent book that I would highly recommend to both customers and readers of my blog.

This book was not at all what I was expecting. Alex's character and back story keep you guessing the whole time. You will not see the end coming until it hits you like a ton of bricks. Such a great read!

I am sorry to say this story brings nothing new to the table. A girl leaves town (Alex) and, like, ten years later she returns pretending to be someone else. However, 10 years ago a girl “committed suicide” and later on, another one disappeared. As usual, Alex is now on the track to find out what really happened to them.

Like, discovering new evidence that the police never knew about it, and people that didn’t talk to the police opening up to her.

Right, Alex solves the mystery! - I guess; I was too bored with this predictable plot to finish the book.

Thank you Netgalley for providing me with a free copy of this title.
