I want to thank NetGalley, Blackstone Publishing, and author Joel Shulkin, MD for providing me with an ARC of this novel.

Adverse Effects follows a Boston psychologist named Cristina Silva who is determined to help her amnesiac patients recover their lives. Recognate, a revolutionary new memory-recovering drug, is working wonders in trials. Cristina feels close to this mission, because she too has lost her memories. Wanting to experience what her patients in trial are, she begins popping the pill as well, remembering bit by bit every day.

However, no drug comes without side effects, which Cristina soon learns. But she’s too far in, now. I loved the concept of this novel, and I’m always in for anything related to the medical field. I really enjoyed this read. The story line was kind of all over the place, but it worked for this concept. If you’re looking for something different, pick this up!

I again want to thank those named above for providing me with an ARC of this novel!

I requested this as the synopsis gave me Limitless vibes, which to be fair at times it did. It was such a good idea for a story, but I dont think it will be for every body as it's a very confusing plot, it was hard to follow at times.

Adverse effects details the experiences a psychiatrist faces with a new drug touted to supposedly restore memory in patients with amnesia. Her confidence in the drug is so profound she begins to pop them herself. However no drug comes with no side effects and soon she ends up way in over her head.

The concept was different which I appreciated but the topsy turvy, way off storyline was a bit much and I found myself skipping through a lot of it. Not my favourite.
