The Gate Changer is an interesting insight into the beginning of Pictionary. While I enjoyed Rob Angel's telling of his experience, he admits repeatedly that he is a forever optimist and happy guy. Therefore, the book was such. positive spin that it felt like many hardships were overlooked. It really needed the voice of the other living founder to be a well-rounded story of Pictionary.

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC for an honest review.

This book explores the success of the board game Pictionary. It is truly a success because it is totally independent of the major chains and overcoming that competition in the board gaming industry is huge. I enjoyed the read and for anyone that is interesting in breaking into a field that is exclusive of industry giants I would recommend this book.

Rob Angel is the creator of the popular board game, Pictionary, and Game Changer is his story of how the game came to be a house party standard. The author is quick to say this is not a how-to, but rather a you-can-too book, and that is a totally honest assessment. You'll find no hard and fast rules, no insider tips, no checklists or timelines, instead Game Changer is a simply-written chronological and personal recounting of the life of Pictionary.

The writing was casual and conversational, the storyline was clear and engaging, and the author kept to the topic.

Game Changer was a quick, fun read filled with personality and insight into the working mind of an entrepreneur. And, if you're like me and have occasionally wondered how hard it would be to create a new game or some other product, this book will give you ample food for thought. It will either inspire and motivate you, or make you run for the hills!

If you're curious about Rob Angel, Pictionary or the world of board games, Game Changer is a satisfying read, however if you're looking for a hard-hitting entrepreneurial bible ala Steve Jobs, you might be disappointed.

This review is based on an advance copy read.

Great story and a very engaging book about an entrepreneur who said "yes" to an opportunity. This book is a strong motivation that leads by example: if one person could do it, you also can.

Thank you for allowing me to review this memoir by Rob Angel. His business success seemed to be a combination of luck and family startup funding along with a dash of perseverance along the way. I think we all have memories of Pictionary when board games, along with Trivial Pursuit, were a popular pastime. The world of games has changed considerably with video and digital platforms since he and his friends played charades on paper during college. Those looking for a nostalgic look at the invention of Pictionary will find insight here.

A rather short version of How I Built My Game. It was okay but a bit more details would've been better.

I am an obsessed fan of Pictionary because I love word and picture games. So glad there is finally a book about the creator and how he came up with the idea. This whole book was absolutely fascinating and worthwhile. And to think this wasn't super popular at first? Seriously?!! How can you not like making an ass of yourself with friends and family playing this game? This game is a must have, especially when going out isn't option because of Coronavirus. All of our favorite games are getting some much needed use.

This was well written and researched. Great to know the history of the game and creator.

Thanks to NetGalley, Rob Angel, and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for honest review.

Game Changer is an excellent book about having a passion and going for your dreams, no matter what or how outlandish they are. Whenever you think that the little guy never wins and that you will never achieve your goals, think of Rob Angel. Not only that, but read his book. It will change your life.
