Everything Jasmine writes is fun, sexy and slightly delicious (so much food, always lol). I love her books and will be reading everything she writes forever.
Such a great book! I am obsessed! Another great one in the series. It made me laugh and cry! Highly reccomend!
Well this was another great addition to The Wedding Date series!! One of my favorite aspects of this was the female perspective of running a business and sexism in the workplace. As a female managing a family business, I appreciate it immensely. I also really enjoyed watching our couple learn to compromise and ask for their own needs in the relationship. The fact that they recognized what they needed, asked for it, and continued to evaluate and TALK! This is what a partnership is. It also touches on white privilege (we see a character come to terms with his and the actions he took to change) and overall, I really enjoyed this sweet and fun read. I think this one ranks right up with The Proposal for me.
I enjoyed the latest installment in Guillory's romance series, The Wedding Date. This time we get the story of Olivia who is Alexa's sister, the main character from the first book.
This book delivered what I expect from the series: characters that are diverse professionals with progressive politics. Also, lots of luscious descriptions of food and eating said food.
Both Olilvia and Max were very likeable characters and their individual backgrounds as well as their love story were complex and sweet.
I loved this very much! The characters, the actions and even the plot itself! Very inspiring for my own book too!
I loved this book! A great part of the universe and I loved Olivia. She’s such a strong main character who isn’t afraid to learn something new. The romance is so sweet and I loved their trip to Hawaii. So sweet and it made me want to eat more cake! A must read for any romance fan.
Romance, friendship, and a positive side of politics. Olivia meets Max and enjoys his company without realizing he’s a U.S. senator. As their relationship develops they must figure out if, and how, a lawyer who appreciates her private life and staying out of the spotlight and a spontaneous politician can make it work.
This is a fun contemporary romance, including some social issues (race, teen crime, community outreach). I enjoyed the characters and their story.
I loved this book, it had a badass female protagonist that we saw in the first book, we brought back previous characters, while bringing in new characters we could fall in love with. Olivia has a past as we all do and a strong career. Can she reconcile her past to keep her future?
I’m such a sucker for Jasmine Guillory’s books! The characters and romance are always immaculate. Party of Two was no different! Like all her books, it has the wit and drama of a rom-com, only in book form (even better), and gives you the same warm and fuzzy feels. I always want to reread her books immediately! I bought a physical copy of this one the second it came out.
Party of Two helped me determine once and for all that my type of romance writing falls more into the real-life complicated Normal People brand of love than the Hallmark movie trope of one big fight, but ultimately everything is perfect brand.
If you love a classic romance with over the top gestures and a neat and tidy bow at the end though, this is absolutely the book for you.
Extra points for Jasmine Guillory pushing some social issues (can we all agree that a teenage arrest affecting someone’s ability to work and live a normal life as an adult is problematic and laws need to change?) and clear equality and respect within a relationship.
Jasmine Guillory is always a sure thing and Party of Two is no exception. Olivia Monroe (sister of Alexa Monroe from The Wedding Date) is a lawyer, recently relocated from New York to LA and starting her own firm with a friend from law school. Before moving into her own place, she stays in a hotel where she flirts with a cute guy in the hotel bar. Soon, she sees him on TV and realizes that he’s a junior senator for California. Their romance is challenging as she wants to stay out of the spotlight, but he lives in it. A solid romance with three dimensional characters, just as I would expect from Guillory.
I think maybe I need to take a break from Jasmine Guillory. I do enjoy her books, when I am in the mood for a quick read full of romance and fun. However, this is the second one in a row for this series that I have just not clicked with. It just seemed more of the same to me. I did like the change of pace with the political angle, and the characters were okay. I just felt like after a while the story was dragging on. I do like the writer's style and the plot was fine. You know what you are getting into when you read a Jasmine Guillory novel. If you are in the mood for a quick read, with lots of romance, this is for you!
I was given an advanced reader's copy via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own

Party of Two is the newest book in The Wedding Date series, and I did not enjoy this experience. Olivia is a lawyer that left New York and a big firm to start her practice with her best friend. Max is a junior senator that strikes up a conversation with Olivia in a hotel bar. Max and Olivia then go their ways only to meet again and pursue a relationship. I did not feel the connection between Olivia and Max. I did not like the abundance of food references that just got annoying. In the end, this book puts the nail in the coffin for this author.

Another fantastic romantic comedy from Jasmine Guillory! I loved seeing these two fall for each other, and overcome their unique and unexpected relationship hurdles. Olivia is a wildly practical, no-nonsense heroine and I loved her attitude. Max is a well-intentioned dude, who faces some rude awakenings when his relationship with Olivia forces him to confront his own privilege.
Political romances can be tricky, but this is how you write one that is refreshing, appropriate, and not at all questionable.
This book was okay, just okay. The storyline felt like something I've read before and three quarters of the book were just a bit boring. There wasn't happening much and I would have loved some more action. Then came a plottwist, but I thought it was totally unnecessary and out of character for both of them. Olivia and Max weren't behaving like they did in the rest of the book and that was really a bummer.
I don't think Guillory and I are a good match. Her books are quick reads, sure, but I'm not blown away by them. Maybe I'll try one of her books when she writes another series. Maybe. Her writing style is fine but I'm just not blow away by the storyline and I think that's necessary to be a good book.
This summer was an intense one for me—COVID, evacuating to my parents’ house for a few months to quarantine in a place that wasn’t 400 square feet, eventually changing jobs and moving to Georgia… my reading habits suffered. I was too stressed.
This book was something of an antidote to that slog. It didn’t fix everything, but it did take the edge off of the headache for a while. This was also my favorite in the Wedding Date series so far, both because Olivia is a lawyer and because the initial romance between Olivia and Max is so… easy. They fall in love in such a casual, mutual, respectful way. They have issues as things move on, but the book shows you these roadblocks coming. He’s impulsive, she’s overly cautious oh no! But they both recognize those aspects in each other and really work on how to have those conversations together. It’s not easy, but it’s not childish either.
And, of course, the third character in this romance is dessert. Pie and cake get the majority of the screen time, but many desserts are represented. Prepare yourself with a sweet of choice!
Each time I pick up a Jasmine Guillory book, I know it will be sweet, sexy, tearful, and always have a happy ending Her books are feel-good reads, and this one was no exception!
Loved being back with Olivia, who I liked as a supporting character from The Wedding Date. I really love that Jasmine focuses on familiar characters from previous books. It adds familiarity for OG readers, but allows new readers to still enjoy.
Also, as always, the main hero is a babe. Oof, Max is delicious, as are all her leading men.
Overall, just smashed it out if the park.
I can't get enough of Jasmine Guillory and her wonderfully strong, independent, career women characters. I especially love the fact that all races are represented in her books and everyone has such strong backgrounds and personalities that make them unique. Party of Two did not disappoint, and I expected nothing less than a strong woman character. I love love love this book and it is probably one of the best in the series.
Party of Two is the fifth book in Jasmine Guillory’s ‘The Wedding Date’ series. I’ve enjoyed every book in this series and this one was no exception. I absolutely adored the hero and the romance was sweet and swoony.
Olivia Monroe is an attorney who’ just moved from NYC back to her home state of California. At a hotel bar, she meets a man and they’re both smitten with one another. Max Powell is that man. Max is a senator and when he sees Olivia a few weeks after their first meeting, he doesn’t let her get away so easily.
Things are a little complicated for this couple due to Max being so in the public eye, but they start to fall in love anyway. I thought Max was just the sweetest. I mean, who doesn’t love a guy who woos you with bakery treats? And I liked Olivia a lot, even though she frustrated me at times. Overall I liked it a lot and was happy with how it turned out!
If you’re looking for a sweet and enjoyable romance that will leave you with a smile on your face, check out Party of Two.
I love supporting Jasmine Guillory and I have been very invested in these stories. I do wish the dialogue was a bit better written, but I love the characters and these plots always pull me in. I also love how the female characters are just always killing it career-wise.
