A nicely written, old fashioned romance. Also a great holiday, travel read...I followed their progress on Google Earth which made it feel very cinematic and wished that I had been on that journey with them, or that it was made into a film.
It was so very pleasant to read about kind, thoughtful people who worked with a passion for their careers without being ruthless, whilst also acknowledging the problems that can be attached to great wealth. As always in escapist novels one of the heroes or heroines inherits a beautiful old chateau/castle/hotel/cottage .......wish that were true! Although somebody must inherit all the beautiful places in the world...so maybe a bit like winning the lottery. Nonetheless this is a very pleasant read and I shall be looking to read more of this author’s work.Thank you Netgalley for ARC and author for giving me an escape from the pandemic for a few hours.
I was initially attracted to this book by the gorgeous cover, not having read any of the author's Dreaming of .. series before. What I got was a lovely engaging read that literally stole hours from me without my even noticing and before I knew it i'd finished and been left with the desire to visit Italy again. The descriptions of the lesser known areas of Italy were perfect and the only time I broke off from reading was to google images of the places described to see more. Emma, as the Hollywood location scout-cum-fixer, was great as a strong female making her way in the tough world of Hollywood but not compromising her likability. I loved that she coped with the dilemma of love v career without having to sacrifice who she was. I also loved the character of Rich, as the troubled boss's son. Gentle romance without drama - yes and that's what makes it the perfect read in these troubled times.
You really can relax when reading a book by T. A. Williams, which is very welcome at a time when the UK is in lockdown. There is very little conflict in this story, and what there is seems to be resolved quickly. Williams writes wonderful descriptions of places all over Italy and makes me want to go and see some of them (next year hopefully). I've read quite a few books in this Italian series. I think (though don't quote me on this) they're all standalone.. I liked the ending, although it felt somewhat rushed, and I am getting a little tired of books ending with the lead female (SPOILER ALERT) pregnant. Yawn! Emma's small group get on famously travelling round Italy. There are very few snags. It's all highly organised - just like Emma. I liked Emma but didn't always feel her emotion. Maybe that's deliberate as she was very analytical. I liked all of the characters (including the black Labrador). I thnk if you're looking for a light read with wonderful scenic descriptions as well as food descriptions.
When Emma travels to Italy to scout for locations for a blockbuster film, her aim idoing it right so she can score a promotion.
But when she falls for Mark, a historical advisor. this comes under threat.
Will she/can she choose between her career and her heart?
I enjoyed following Emma's adventures and seeing the minor characters have their own fun.
I felt the ending a little rushed and convenient, but, if you need an escape from reality then this is a great read.
This is an absolutely gorgeous book with a beautiful setting. This is just what I've needed to escape the harsh reality.
I've been able to escape to Italy, with extremely likeable characters. This has been a perfect read which I haven't been able to put down.
I am a huge fan of this author, the books allow me to escape reality and visit beautiful and exotic destinations from the comfort of my own sofa.
This author produces books which are easy to become lost in. This is one which is definitely worthy of five stars. It is a fantastic book by a truly talented author.
Emma travels to Italy to scout for locations for a blockbuster film - and she intends on doing it right so she can score a promotion. But her goal comes under threat when she falls hard for Mark, a historical advisor. Will she be able to choose between her career and her heart?
I love travel romances and this is no exception. Sooo many warm fuzzies - and of course a lot of detailed and exciting sightseeing (an integral part of all travel romances). I was content to follow Emma's adventures and enjoyed seeing the minor characters have their own fun. The conclusion felt a little rushed and convenient, but this is a great read if you need an escape from reality.
With "Dreaming of Italy" T.A. Williams confirms once again that he's a master of feel good stories. Some times it's just nice to read stories about good things happening to good people, and this book is that kind of story. I had a smile on my face the whole time. It was nice to learn about some italian villages out of the tourist circuits that now I want to visit so badly. And those food descriptions! So mouth watering!
Emma was a nice character and the dilemma she's fighting with the whole story is a pretty relatable one. Follow your heart or your career? I specially liked the similarities between her story and the movie script. Although you know how her story is gonna end since the beginning, it was nice to see for once it was not the woman the one who had to give up some part of her life to have everything she wanted to be happy.
Perfect feel good read for these complicated times when the only way we can travel is through books.
Thanks to Netgalley and Canelo for providing an eARC in exchange for an honest review.
When Emma is sent to Italy to secure places to film the next big blockbuster Dreaming of Italy, she starts her journey dreaming of promotion and ends it wondering if there is more to life than work.
A light-hearted romance.
Summer time reading at its best.
Simple delivery, leaving you with a smile on your face.
I requested to read and review this book Dreaming of Italy by author T.A. Williams and publishing company Canelo. This book has a great flair for leaving you guessing until the end! Where is this book mostly based on you guessed right Italy! You will like the characters Emma and Mark, Rich and Marina and Carmen!! This book will take you on a journey through what can be described as history of some great sites. This is a history and romance story. This is a great read for almost any reader. It's a definite favorite of mine!!
My thanks to NetGalley and publisher Canelo for the ARC.
This is another lovely picturesque and atmospheric story in the Dreaming Of series. A holiday-read if ever there was one, transporting you across Italy from the mountains to the canals of Venice with lots of hidden gems along the way.
Thirty-five year old Emma Taylor, originally from Norfolk, England, has worked for the last 12 years for a major Hollywood film company. She's career-minded and ambitious and loves her job above all and anyone else. She's no time for any long-term romantic involvement. The Head of the company, Jan Miros, needs a blockbuster movie and the screenplay of Dreaming of Italy looks likely to fit the bill. He wants Emma to go to Italy for two weeks to scout-out the most beautiful and atmospheric locations for the film's scenes, where the two stars travel around Italy before parting in Venice just before the First World War. However, he also wants Emma to take his son, 27yr-old son Rich, with her - he's had drug problems in the past and is quiet and reserved, but needs to learn the business to eventually take over the company.
In Italy they meet their guide and driver Marina, and then Mark who has been engaged as their historical adviser. Almost immediately Emma is attracted to Mark and consciously has to push away any idea of a relationship with him. But the attraction proves to be too strong. Meanwhile, Rich is coming out of his shell - assisting Emma with photos and videos of locations and impressing her with his knowledge of the screenplay. At the same time he and Marina seem to enjoy each others' company.
Emma's and Mark's relationship mirrors that of the stars of the film - what will happen when they all have to part company in Venice?
This is a lovely read - I just wish there was a sketch of Italy with the places mentioned at the front of the book.
Another winner.
Yet again T A Willians transported me to Italy. Each book in this series has been brilliant and this is no exception.
A happy and sad book as this is the last in the 'Dreaming of...' series. But what a way to go! An entire tour around Italy with a Hollywood location scout and an interesting love interest. A good storyline as ever and warm and friendly characters in sunny locations. What's not to love!
This is a really heartwarming and fun series as the author brings you along with some fun characters and lovely places he evokes on the page. He's married to an italian woman and you can tell his love of italy which shines from the page. This is THE best way to enjoy Italy and especially now since the CV situation. This reminds you of the beauty to rediscover when this nightmare is over.
Hope this author writes more/starts another series!
A great read, the story of Emma and Mark.
She meets him when she is in Italy, scouting locations for a new film. They connect, but he lives so far away and she has her career to think of.
The setting of the book sounds amazing and makes me want to go and visit all of these places.
