A good murder mystery, where everyone seems to have good reason for killing the victim. All wrapped around a food week festival. Very descriptive, the food - and the clothes - sound amazing.

Really enjoyed it.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher I read an advance review copy of the book. This review is voluntary, honest and my own opinion.

In Shredding the Evidence: A Cookbook Nook Mystery by Daryl Wood Gerber, bookstore owner Jenna Hart comes across the dead body of a local food reporter. Her best friend's husband is a primary suspect. As the clues and suspect's mount, Jenna is determined to find the culprit.

It was around 26% into the book before we finally get to the murder. I feel a lot of the beginning could have been condensed to get to the main plot. The murder victim was obvious because of this person's behavior and demeanor, so it could have been closer to the beginning to keep the story moving forward.

With all of Daryl Wood Gerber's books, there were a lot of characters to keep track of, though it's easy to follow. I like the relationship that Jenna has with her best friend, Bailey. Their interactions and conversations are written with realism, and this shows in the way they interact.

Caution, though, read this book on a full stomach; otherwise, you will snack because of all the yummy food that is described (recipes are included at the end of the book).

Overall, this is a good addition to the Cookbook Nook series. I wasn't overly thrilled with it, but it was a pleasant read and kept my interest for most of the book. The mystery was good as there were plenty of suspects from which to choose. The ending was satisfactory and seemed plausible.

I would give this book 3.75 stars out of 5.
