Sometimes you need a nice easy read to get lost in and escape the worries of your own life. “Betting on Love” provided that escape. Join Sam and Whitney on their journey to find out if love can overcome a fear of failure.
Betting on Love is the second book in Jennifer Hoopes` saga of two business families (The Brodie’s who are Whiskey distillers and the Ellis` who have Amusement Parks) and the ups, downs, sideways and any other direction that complications can go. This one is the story of a woman returning home after betrayal of the worst kind and the man who offers her work; but it never stops there. Whitney faces build to this story. Overall, a good read and very enjoyable.
I genuinely enjoyed Betting on Love, the second book in the Ellis Family series. It was great to see members of the Ellis Family again and to learn more about Sam Ellis and Whitney Carroll in particular. He’s a workaholic, who let something is father said when he was 14 rule his life. She’s a recent divorcée trying to learn to trust herself and stand on her own two feet. They make a lovely pairing and I enjoyed reading their HEA.
Betting on Love is a feel good, clean romance that is easy to recommend.
I voluntarily read and reviewed a complimentary copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
After his father and brothers death, Sam become the CEO of the family business, and the only thing he does is work, work and more work. His siblings, in an attempt to get him to take it easy, bet him that he can’t keep a relationship going for thirty days.
Whitney is back in Gatlinburg, after her divorce and is looking for a job. A chance encounter with Sam lands her a job interview. And their insta attraction has Sam confessing about the bet to Whitney, and Whitney agreeing to be in a fake relationship with him.
Betting on love is a fast and sweet read. It is the second book in the series, and since I have not read the first book, I felt like I am missing a few details. I also couldn’t connect with the main characters. Having said that I really liked the bond shared by the siblings and they way they have each other’s backs, very heartwarming.
A great story in Brodie-Ellis land. Whitney has returned home to Gatlinburg after a nasty divorce and is now jobless, homeless and living with her cousin. She needs a job, a place to live and get back on her feet. Sam Ellis is the oldest of the Ellis siblings and inherits the role of CEO and totally overcompensates trying to prove to his dead father he's not flighty. Something he overheard his father say as a child. The two meet at the local watering hole when Sam after being harassed by his two brothers and sister to take a night off and a break from work. The two don't realize that there is some long standing feud between the families until Whitney's obnoxious cousin comes in and causes a little disruption between the two. Sam and Whitney don't seem to care, nor do his sibs.
As Sam is getting ready to launch the latest thing in rides at a large amusement park, he needs someone with marketing experience and that's right up Whitney's alley. Sam hires her and she's the missing magic he's needed. In more ways than one. I loved watching his brothers Lucas and Caleb, sister Becky and their antics along with their betting! Things heat up quickly between the two, great character development there. They are two totally relatable people. Whitney guides Sam slowly along the path of the life/work balance. Arriving at the carefully orchestrated weekend event for the ride launch, there's a sticky situation that Sam blames Whitney for. Sam spews like a volcano and...
This was a short, easy read with a little angst, crazy fun family and one workaholic man, light on steam. Did I want more story? You betcha! Will I be waiting for the next book to come out? You betcha!

Cute little instant attraction/fake relationship story. Sam Ellis has some big shoes to fill. His parents and older brother passed away and he was left in charge of the family company. For a year he has worked himself damn near to death and his siblings want him to slow down and live a little. Which is why he went to the bar with them that night and had his chance encounter with Whitney.
Whitney, recently divorced and forced to move back home, has nothing. No job, no car, no place to live. Sam offers her a job and she accepts. She then finds out that his siblings bet him he couldn't have a real relationship for 30 days and Whitney offers to help him out.
Then she realizes that it's a lose, lose situation. If he loses the bet, he loses control of the family company. If he wins, he keeps working himself to death. Does she continue with the bet, knowing it will end with failure either way?
🌟🌟🌟🌟 out of 5 stars.

“Love is worth the wait.”
Whitney is recovering from a divorce while having to get back up her own two feet by getting a job, getting her own place — basically to establish her life.
Sam has lost himself working on their family’s company to prove himself to his family, but mostly to his late father. He barely slept, ate, had time for himself because he was so bent on not failing.
Until, Sam’s siblings decided to make a bet with him — to have a real relationship with a woman. If he wins, he stays as the head of their company and obviously, he’s found a woman to spend his life with. If he lost, they will take him off as head, and change it to a committee lead company.
Honestly, this was a pretty cute story but also at the same time, some moments were annoying. Sam his this attitude where he shuts people out despite seeing how they genuinely care for him, but i get where his coming from. Both of them though, Whitney and Sam, tend to assume the worst in people or scenarios and it got so frustrating at one point. Anyway, i’d still recommend this book because the story was good!
Happy reading! ✨
This was an easy, quick read that I enjoyed. While I enjoyed the book, the pacing was off and most of the book felt rushed. I had a hard time connecting with either Whitney or Sam, and I found myself pretty uninterested in how their relationship panned out. That being said, it was still an entertaining read and it had a few really solid scenes and I especially enjoyed the side characters.
Family loyalty can be trying and Whitney and Sam know all about it. Both are making changes in their lives they believe are being forced on them. A decision to collaborate leads to love. This is a story that continues in the vein of the first in the series about family loyalty and love. There are things that they hold inside that has the power to limit their ability to thrive. It’s only once they let go of the past that they can enjoy the present and see the future.
Book 2 in the series takes us back to Gatlingburg, TN and the Ellis siblings.
This time the story belongs to Sam, the brother that since the death of his parents a year ago, has taken the reins of the Ellis Enterprise. He is fearful of failing the family and to that end has become a workaholic, not sleeping or eating.
His siblings are worried and to keep them off his back, he agrees to go with them to the local bar.
There he meets Whitney. A cousin of the feuding family and a woman who has been crushed by her ex. The moment they meet , sparks erupt and his family decides to bet him that he can’t find love in 30 days because of his work .
Little did anyone realize, especially Whitney and Sam, that not only their lives would forever be changed, but fears and secrets would be revealed.
Aside from the storyline, it’s a story about family. About what a comment made in a moment of jest, could change the trajectory of a person and also how love though messy at times, can conquer everything.
I was entrusted a copy of this book by Entangled . The opinions expressed are solely my own.

This book had jumping parts. It was fast forwarding and rushing the relationship. I did enjoy where the author was trying to take it but I had several moments wondering how it was believable.
While the courtship was a bit rushed, I liked Sam and Whitney’s connection. I would have enjoyed a bit more insight as to the feud between their two families. It seems like there’s nothing there, but why make a big deal about it if there isn’t.
I also didn’t realize it was part of a series, but I had read the first book. It can definitely be read as a stand-alone and there’s nothing major missing from the storyline. I will admit, there’s more “meat” to the story in the first book. I have to wonder if the subsequent books...there’s 3 more siblings, I assume they’ll each get a book....will have more complex relationships.
Overall, it was an enjoyable read. Slightly longer than a novella but not as long as most romances. I like Ms. Hoopes easy writing style and have read more than a few of her catalogue. I’ll continue to do so in the future.
Mhmm this one really wasn't for me! It just seemed a little slow and kind of boring not much steam just not my type of read! I'm sure there's plenty that will like it, it's just not for me! Thank you NetGalley and the publishers for sharing this book with me!
this is the first book I read by this author. It was ok. I agree with some of the other reviews that this felt rushed. I liked both Sam and Whitney, but felt there was more to the story. Frankly I was more interested in Lucas and the sister Becky. It was too short and there needed to be more.

2.5 STARS
There isn't much for me to say here.
It's 150 pages. It felt rushed.
The characters were flat and had no depth (could have been fixed with a longer story)
The plot was just OK. Not super original or anything great to hold my interest.
I DID however absolutely LOVE the side characters, which is why I gave this 2.5 stars instead of 1. Lucas (the brother) was such a great character, and I would have loved if he was the MC instead.
Overall, if you want a quick romance, look no further. I think it took me 1.5 hours to read.
Many thanks to Entangled Publishing for the review copy in exchange for my honest thoughts/opinions.
I couldn’t get into this one. And now I’m a bit disappointed because the blurb made this book sound great. I’m not sure why I didn’t enjoy it though. Even skipping around didn’t capture my attention.

Betting on Love by Jennifer Hoopes is the second book in her series featuring the Brodie's (Whiskey distillers) and the Ellis Family (Amusement parks) and the bet between Sam Ellis and Whitney Carroll (nee-Ellis). While the book is good it's very short and I felt to quick to get to the end so yes, I wish it was just a bit longer.
Whitney Carroll has come home to Gatlinburg after her divorce from a hubby who wasn't faithful to her. She needs a job but to the dismay of her cousin, Sam Ellis offers her a job with his company as their new marketing director. First assignment promote their newest ride all while trying to convince Sam's family they are dating. Sounds simple right? Well, all is great but when a problem arises he blames Whitney for distracting him. Can they go beyond their past and insecurities and be the couple they were meant to be? Or will they call an end to the feelings that both Whitney and Sam have for each other? Sam needs to get beyond his fear of failing to run the family business first.
I give the story 4 stars and the heat is mild between the couple I just wish it was a bit longer is all.
Sam falls in love with Whitney!
Sam Ellis had felt like a fraud because something his father said when he was young and taking over the family entertainment corporation after the sudden death of their father and oldest brother. Sam wanted to prove to his siblings that he had what it takes by almost working too much instead they did an intervention trying to get him to slow down by telling him they would fire him if he didn’t. Whitney Carroll needed a job after her divorce and Sam Ellis needed an assistant so the diced to ask Whitney if she would play his girlfriend/assistant while working for him.
Sam Ellis wants a relationship like his parents had where they complement each other in work and family and he finds that in Whitney Carroll because she loved him and took care of him and also was great at her job with the company.
Betting on Love is the book for you if you like series about families that care for each other.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
BETTING ON LOVE is a sweet romance between two people who are just perfect for each other!
The H is a workaholic, running himself ragged to prove he can run the family company after tragedy takes both of his parents and his oldest brother.
Our h is trying to rebuild her life after a heartbreaking divorce. She is filled with smarts, compassion, and can help our H find a better work/life balance.
Along with these two is a supporting cast of characters (all from the same family) that are warm and wonderful. I loved them!!!
The slow-burn romance between our H and h was sweet and very satisfying. The author does a great job of making you care about these characters and long for their HEA! This is the second book in a series about the Ellis family and I followed along with no problem, despite not having read the first book. It's truly a standalone.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
