This was a slow burn for me. I felt it started off slow (and the writing was a bit too cliché for me if I'm being frank) and I didn't care for Willa at all. Once I hit 39% of the way through though, it picked up speed and never stopped. I laughed, I cried, I was happy, and I was sad.

Bad choice of me to read this while on my break at work, I went back to my desk with swollen eyes!
Well worth picking up!

This book had me in tears. It pulls at the heart in a major way. I loved all the characters except Willa. I can’t wrap my head around how she’s not Calle don’t on her selfishness. She means well yes. But she’s very self absorbed. It always me me me. I had to do this. I had to do that. This nearly killed me. She seems to forget that other people are effected also. An the way she treated Sean. She doesn’t deserve him in my eyes at all. Whew.

Typical Debbie Macomber - wonderful! This books is about living, dying, fighting, and letting go. Willa has been the mother-figure to her sister Harper since their mother died. When Harper was a teen and diagnosed with cancer, Willa stayed by her side and helped nurse her back to health. Now adults, Harper is living each day to the fullest, Willa is still scared Harper's cancer may return and maybe a little afraid of living her own life. Then in comes a man who finds Willa attractive and falls in love with her. Can she help her sister as she faces another cancer scare, allow herself to fall in love, and keep her family from falling apart?

A very touching heartfelt book of sisters and family. Nicely written. Going through illness with family is a devastating situation. This book was written with empathy and kindness. Kudos to Ms Macomber.

Debbie Macomber has perfected the art of writing stories of family love and conflict and dealing with tragedy and illness.

Willa Lakey took over the roll of caretaker of her family after the death of her mother. Her father was too consumed with grief to take care of his family, choosing instead to drown his grief in a bottle.

Having taken care of her younger sister and brother for so long, Willa has a hard time letting go. She still wants to protect them. After winning the battle against Leukemia, her younger sister, Harper, is ready to be her own person and make her own decisions. The love and the struggle between these two sisters is both heartwarming and heartbreaking.

Ms. Macomber has a wonderful talent for creating characters and situations that involve all the emotions. I felt like I was living the story.

I definitely recommend A Walk Along the Beach. You won’t be disappointed.

Debbie Macomber Has done it again! I absolutely love Debbie and any books she writes, But this Book By far is a favorite. With the book surrounding two sisters and their Journeys, Debbie Macomber has created an Uplifting, but heart breaking story that surrounds, Love, Loss, Friendship, and relationship. Willa struggling to find a romantic relationship, because she is not as pretty as her sister, and Harper who has come upon her path as a struggle when she is diagnosed with leukemia. Both sisters take this time to lean on one another and help each other through this journey. The connection Debbie has with her characters (in any book) are sooo surreal. You find yourself connected as well.

One of my Favorite aspects of reading this novel was the fact that Debbie can take characters from a previous book and intertwine them into a new book and you never have to read the first to get these characters (unless you want too). I read the Cottage By The Sea last year, I was devastated for that book to end. It was such a good book and I found myself wanting to know more about those characters. WELL, Debbie did just that with this book taking you back to the oceanside town and the characters of Cottage by the Sea, without taking away from the main characters and their stories in A Walk Along The Beach. This book is a must read andI would HIGHLY recommend this book for a book club.

Thank you to Netgalley, Debbie Macomber, and Kindle for accepting me to review this book with my honest feedback!

I struggled with my rating on 'A Walk Along the Beach'. In the end, although there were flaws, I wanted to highly encourage everyone to read this moving story. I was exposed to an emotional situation that was so real to me that I was profoundly affected. It was one that I actually haven't gone through myself. Many, many tears were shed. One of the flaws for me was the over-quick resolution. Again, though, it was not enough to damper my enthusiasm. One just has to read the story of Willa, Harper and Sean. It has stayed with me.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.

I usually love Macomber-her stories just help me to escape to another place where everything works out all right. I just couldn't warm to the main character in this one-Willa. She's had a lot of tragedy in her life which I sympathized with but the insta-love that hero Sean has for her is never really cemented for me. The central storyline was hard to read but that's okay. I'm just not sure if I could understand either of the reactions to it-the hero's or the heroine's. I don't want to say more for fear of spoiling the story. Others have loved it so it must just be me.
Thanks to NetGalley and Random House Ballantine for the ARC in return for my honest review.

This was my first Debbie Macomber book. Annnnd well, I wasn't impressed. It was not the best. It was so sickeningly saccharine. Like sappy and cheesy. So it was kind of annoying. I wanted to enjoy it! But I was put off but the overwhelming sweetness. It wasn't awful but it wasn't quite the light, fluffy romance I was looking for. I guess I was looking for more of a rom-com and that this is not. This is like a Christian romance novel. I hope her many other books are better than this one...

I really enjoy reading Debbie Macombers books because they keep you on the edge of your seat and are beautifully written. She describes her characters so that you feel like you are there, sharing their lives, their memories and creating memories with your new friends and family. This book will make you smile, then cry and feel a million emotions.

I am having trouble writing my review without any spoilers or telling too much of the story. But let me say this, if you don;t read this book you are definitely missing out on an awesome book. She describes Willa, Harper and Willa's coffee shop called Bean there. You will meet Willa and Harper's Dad, their brother and Chantelle his fiance. Trust me, you don't want to miss a soul in this book. I even loved Snowball and Bandit.

Rarely do I cry when reading a book, but I shed a few reading A Walk Along the Beach. Willa's family has enduring much tragedy. Her mother died when she was a teenager and she assumed responsibility for her younger sister, her father turned to alcohol. Then Harper had leukemia. But they're on the other side of all of the sadness. Harper had recovered, her father was sober, she had a new business booming and a cute photographer entered her life. Until it comes crashing down again. Sean is gone when Willa needs him the most and she's not sure if she can lose again. One scene in the book is particularly heartbreaking. Macomber knows how to take a reader on a roller coaster read.

This is another great book by Debbie Macomber. It has a good mix of romance with a bit of drama mixed in. I love that it also includes a dog rescue. Reading about Willa. Keep up the good work Debbie!

First things first: I am not an avid Macomber reader. I've only read one of her books before picking up "A Walk Along the Beach" but I can now tell you, I am loving her writing style and will be reading more of her work ASAP.

McComber gives her readers comfort of home feelings with a focus on family and community in this wonderful story. The banter and talk between characters draws you in, making you feel as if you are part of the conversation and not just someone reading a book.

While the storyline in this book might be heavy at times, I feel as if everyone can relate to battles of their own and wondering who will be by yourself as you take them on.

Thank you NetGalley for a copy of this book. You've made me a fan of Debbie Macomber for sure.

A moving story about sisters, Willa and Harper, who have to face unsurmountable obstacles. I would have given this 5 stars but I felt that the hero, Sean, was too timid and willing to do anything Willa wanted. I received an ARC from NetGalley and Ballantine Books for my honest review.

I am a huge Debbie Macomber fan...which means it is not very surprising that I loved "A Walk Along the Beach!" But this book touched me. It is a romance novel, but the entire book is filled with love. I laughed, I cried, I smiled and enjoyed the entire book. A quick read with all the feels.

I loved this book. It has such a wonderful array of emotions and just the right amount of characters. I would have liked a bit more about the surroundings, the town. The ending was a bit abrupt but just what I hoped for. Thanks to NetGalley for the privilege to read and review this book.

I am a big fan of Debbie Macomber, her stories all have a quiet, comforting feel - like snuggling under a warm blanket on a cold day - and A Walk Along the Beach is no exception. While I enjoyed this particular story, it was a little folksy and moved a little too fast for my liking. The romance aspect of the story felt very rushed and honestly a little far-fetched. I did enjoy the family dynamics between the main character, Willa, and her sister, brother, and father. I would definitely recommend this to a book club with mixed ages and tastes, but would not classify this as a"light summer read" as the subject matter is pretty sad at times!

Another Debbie Macomber hit, the perfect beach read with summer right around the corner. This is the story of two sisters and the close bond they share. Willa, the older sister has always been a take charge person helping her sister through a bout with cancer. Harper, on the other hand, is more about living life to the fullest charging ahead to fulfill her dreams. Nice story with enough conflict to make it interesting and Macomber fans will not be disappointed.

A Walk Along the Beach by Debbie Macomber is tender, poignant and heartbreaking with amazing insight into a family's dealing with everyday life. As the story opens, the reader is introduced to two sisters, Willa and Harper, at Willa's coffee shop, Bean There. Willa is the introvert and Harper is outgoing and lively. They are discussing a man who has come into the shop for a drink, his usual. Harper eggs Willa on to talk the guy, Sean. Sean is a photographer but there's to that than meets the eye and of course he's into Willa, though she's more involved with her family than finding a boyfriend. As the story continues, the reader finds out about the Willa and her family. Willa's brother, Lucas, served in the military and is now happily married. Willa's Father is oddly dysfunctional, he checked out of life after the death of his wife leaving Willa to run the family. Willa's sister, Harper is a cancer survivor who is tremendously happy and upbeat. The story continues with Sean romancing Willa but she's more concerned with Harper who is acting strangely. Sean gets close to Willa but he is gone a lot on assignment as a photographer. Sean has his own story to tell but he does love Willa. The story comes to a head as Harper once again has cancer and the treatment is agonizing. The family rallies around Harper, even their dysfunctional dad; but Sean is away on assignment and Willa is just lost in sorrow. I spent the last third of the book crying over all that goes on. The story ends satisfactorily as life goes on and love does help Willa. This book is amazing. You must read it. And the walk along the beach runs throughout the story line being calming and entertaining.
