Wow! What an absolutely moving book! I cried and cried and cried some more! Thank you for a wonderful ready, Debbie Macomber!
Macomber's books never disappoint. She feeds into all womens' hearts and souls. WIthout giving away the plot while reading the book I could feel the intensity behind the passion why Macomber wrote this particular story. We can all relate to the power of relationships and how they define us, empower us, and often tear people apart. Families support and often disappoint but once again the author uses the power of love to help us continue on life's journey. Thank you so much for allowing me the opportunity to enjoy another great read. Netgalley you are awesome.
So romantic and so tragic -- lots of things to love in this story of two sisters who live in a picturesque village on the coast of Washington. Willa meets Sean, the man of her dreams, but will he fully support her when she undergoes the challenge of her life -- the illness of her beloved sister, Harper? Sean seems a little clueless, so we wonder about their success as a couple. Great secondary characters round out this story, which is full of sweet, earnest, and innocent romance. A little old-fashioned, which is a very welcome thing in our mixed up world! Comfort food in book form.
Thank you NetGalley for a free advanced reader copy. This is an honest review. A Walk Along the Beach was classic Debbie Macomber at her best. It made me sad and reflective after losing my own mother to cancer not long ago. The story was also heartwarming. It centered on love, faith and hope. It was a love story as well. and was well written and the characters were well developed. I will recommend this book!
Oh boy, this book was a tear jerker for me. Instead of 5 stars, I think I would give it 5 tissues! Debbie Macomber just takes you on a journey. The stories never seem rushed with the hero and heroine and the development of their relationship. The story though is truly about the two sisters: Willa and Harper. Their relationship is more mother/daughter than sisters due to the death of their mother and Harper's prior illness. Willa and Sean's developing relationship is a secondary story and that is OK.
I don't want to give away any spoiler so I will just say this, I am not sure how Debbie does it, but she just pulls you into the story. I couldn't put the book down and finished it in a day!
I can't say enough good things about this book. Debbie Macomber never fails to pull me and make me want to read the entire book in one sitting. The characters were all well developed and I enjoyed reading the book very much. Willa was a great character and you could really feel both the pain and the joy that she was going through. The story really showed a family coming together and it was never too late. Each of the characters in the book had some pain that they were trying to get over. The book made me laugh and cry but I enjoyed each page. Thank you for the opportunity to review this book I really enjoyed it.
Absolutely just what I needed right now! I was completely into A Walk Along the Beach. I was hooked from the very beginning. The characters were well-developed and oh, so real. I thought about the story and what was happening when I had to quit reading to get work done. I can totally see this book made into a movie and hope there will be another book to carry on Willa's story.
Debbie takes you on an emotional Journey throughout this book. There's laughter, tears and love. It's been a very long time since I've had a five-star read and this is one of them.
A sweet but sad love story. She is such a good author. I liked everyone in this story. I didn’t want it to end!
'Now these that remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.' Corinthians 13:13 sets the tone for Debbie Macomber's #AWalkAlongtheBeach. The July 2020 title was written in honor for Macomber's best friend Roberta Stalberg (pseudonym Christina Skye) after dying from cancer in May 2018.
I laughed and cried along with the family as they walked a difficult road. When Sean enters Willa's life, he perks up her murky world. As a coffee shop proprietor, Sean is her best customer and provides the right blend of kindness and sex appeal to steam her senses.
Having to raise her younger siblings after their mother's death, Willa was their rock holding the family together. Forgoing her dreams, she became the parent, when her father couldn't cope with losing his wife and her sister Harper's cancer diagnosis.
After achieving remission, Harper is the picture of health. In order to percolate Willa's interest she serves up Sean a main dish for her steadfast sister. Will Sean be Willa's support when tragedy befalls the family or will pursing his dreams impact theirs?
Thank you to #NetGalley and the publisher for the early read in exchange for an honest review. Debbie Macomber's #AWalkAlongtheBeach was one of the best books I've read this year. Her heartfelt account of loving despite loss is a testament to her friendship and writing prowess.
This was a highly emotional book for me. I don’t think I’ve been as moved by a book as I was by this one. Sisters Willa and Harper Lakey have been best friends since their mother died many years ago and Willa had to step in as a surrogate mother to Harper and their brother. Willa now owns a coffee and sandwich shop that keeps her busy, and Harper, a cancer survivor, is intent on climbing Mount Rainier. With this book, Debbie Macomber has once again written a heartrending book about love, relationships and family. I would suggest that no one miss this book, but be sure to keep tissues handy for the second half of the book. I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine. All opinions expressed are my own.
For everyone who has had their lives touched by cancer and honestly that is most of us, this is a love story. To those we have lost and the love left behind.
To the human spirit. I really loved this story. So well written. I felt Willa's pain
I appreciated her less than perfect family that was filled with love.
People are flawed, but we love them anyway.
This was a wonderful book with a beautiful story of love and loss. Once i started reading it I could not put it down. I stayed up half the night so I could finish it. Another great book by Debbie Macomber!
This is a romantic fiction from one of the best authors ever. The story is light, at times, and excruciatingly painful at others. The protagonist owns a coffee shop and meets the love of her life, supposedly. However, she has family matters that take over her life, and the romance seems to be going nowhere. It is devastating to read about the events with her sister...her father...and the neglect she is shown from the man she met. The story is slow at the beginning with somewhat young adult writing. The story picks up with the author at her best...then the story wraps up so quickly the reader might wonder what happened. I love reading this author, but this one was far from my favorite. That being said, a read for a rainy day, cuddled in a comfy chair...
A Walk Along the Beach is a shining example of the strength of family ties and love amidst all the risks that are present that threaten to change lives each day. Debbie Macomber weaves a heart-warming and yet tear-jerking novel that you won't want to put down until you finish.. Willa, Harper, Lucas and Sean are unforgettable characters developed by Debbie that makes her books impossible to resist.

Loved this book! Came at just the right time for some relief from the anxiety caused by this pandemic.
Great book! will recommend to our patrons when it is published.
I, along with so many other citizens of the world, have been isolating myself in the hopes of avoiding COVID-19. A Walk Along The Beach by Debbie Macomber was a welcome diversion from all the anxiety caused by this pandemic. While A Walk Along The Beach has darkness and loss, the overwhelming feeling of the book is that somehow, especially with love, things will be ok. This was just the message I needed.
Debbie Macomber's books are always a treat and this one did not dissapoint. A Walk Along the Beach is devourable! It is a precious story of love, family and hope. It was a perfect read for me duirng the COVID quarantine. Thank you for a wonderful distraction!
This is a heart-wrenching story of two sisters, Willa and Harper. Willa finds her soulmate, Sean while wapner is fighting for her life after she learns she has leukemia for the second time. Willa wants a man who will always be there to give her support but Sean,, a photographer travels to desolate locations for weeks on end is determined to show Willa he loves her with all his heart and tries to prove he will always be there for her. I enjoyed this wonderful book very much and I couldn't put it down. The characters were very real and Harper's made me cry. Debbie Macomber has a #1 bestseller with this book.
Usually Debbie Macomber's books are light-hearted, sweet, and romantic. While A walk along the beach was very sweet and romantic, it was a lot heavier of a read since the storyline dealt with cancer.
I wasn't expecting that from this book. It was a very emotional book and sad story, but still one that had me hooked.
