I really love this series. Each book in the series has a very unique story and the characters remain interesting. The author does an excellent job of giving readers a glimpse into the Amish world and how they work with the Englisher world.
This was the 5th book in this series. You don't necessarily have to read the previous books to enjoy this one. Bailey finds another dead body. She agonizes at first that there isn't an A,mish connection to justify her sticking her nose in, but soon finds one. Juliet and the Reverend Brooks are finally getting married and all this uproar happens around that occasion. Bailey, of course, helps Aiden solve the murder. I have to say that I did not have any inkling of who it was. I often figure out the culprit early but this time it was a surprise.
Another good read set in the town of Harvest, Ohio. Bailey is in charge of making the cake and the bridesmaid to Juliet (her boyfriend's mother). Of course, neither the wedding nor the reception go smoothly. The wedding gatecrasher is found dead the next morning, and Juliet's new husband, the Reverend, is a suspect. Bailey works to find the real murderer, as well as, Kayla's importance to Aiden.
Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for my eARC in exchange for an honest review.
I really enjoyed reading this book. It centered around the wedding of Juliet and Reverend Brook. The wedding is interrupted by someone from the reverend's past. There is also a hiccup in the romance of Bailey and Aiden. I can't wait until the next book comes out to hear more about this cast of characters that I have come to care about.
This was very enjoyable. I feel like there were some new elements that were introduced that felt kinda forced, but other than that, I love reading this series.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I was not paid for this review.
Through NetGalley, I received a free copy of MARSHMALLOW MALICE (Book 5 of the Amish Candy Shop Mysteries) by Amanda Flower in exchange for an honest review. The day is finally here, Juliet Brody and Reverend Brook are getting married. The day is a series of joy and disasters, including a wedding crasher demanding her opportunity to speak in objection to the nuptials because Reverend Brook doesn’t deserve to be happy. When the wedding crasher is found dead on the church steps the very next morning, the honeymoon is postponed because the groom is now the prime suspect. Bailey King; bridesmaid, supplier of the wedding cake, and amateur sleuth; is determined to help her boyfriend; sheriff’s deputy, son of the bride, and stepson of the groom; in figuring out the victim’s identity and background. As female members of the Amish community confide in Bailey, she slowly learns the sad truth of the victim’s life and death.
I liked this book and enjoy the series. I recommend the book to fans of the series. I recommend the series to fans of Amanda Flower and to fans of cozy mysteries featuring murder, the Amish, sweet shops, television shows, small towns, and unusual pets with large personalities.

Another cozy mystery from Amanda Flower. Amish sweet shop.
This installment has Juliet getting married to the preacher. When a body shows up at the church.
Of coarse you have Jethro to bring a smile to your face.
Enjoy reading
On the day of Juliet Brody & Reverend Brooks’ wedding, a woman in a tropical dress shows up, attempting to stop the coming nuptials. The next day, Juliet’s maid of honor, Bailey King arrives at the church to clean up and sees the woman in the tropical dress on the stairs, murdered, and Bailey finds herself swept up in finding out who killed her.
Set in the small village of Harvest, Ohio, where the main character helps operate an Amish candy shop, the setting of the book lends a cozy, sweet (no pun intended) feeling to a thrilling murder mystery. That’s ultimately what led me to requesting this book. It felt like a bridge between the children’s mystery novels (i.e. Encyclopedia Brown) that I read in elementary school and the dark thrillers I read now as an adult. Having that more light-hearted feeling doesn’t mean that it sacrifices in the slightest in the areas that matter, though. The characters are loveable and believable, and the plot is titillating and fast-paced. If anything, it is a breath of fresh air from gory, all too intense thrillers and mysteries.
The dialogue did seem a little too formal at some points, the lack of contractions made it a little awkward to read, but that might have been on purpose considering the book was based in Amish country. I think it's also important to mention that even though this book was the 5th in the series, the plot points carried through the series aren't that big of a detractor and it still could be read as a standalone book if someone was interested! Overall, I really enjoyed the book and will more than likely be picking up all the books in the series!
Hard to believe this is the 5th book in the series already. I have read each one, and found in this one another that was hard to put down. Bailey finds another dead body, and helps her hunky boyfriend solve the mystery. Great side characters, but would have liked more with Emily and Charlotte. Could have done without Kayla. Great series, book and author. Highly recommend.
The 5th installment in the Amish Candy mystery series. Juliet Brody and Reverend Brook are getting married and Bailey King has made the wedding cake and is the maid of honor. As the ceremony is underway a woman comes in to protest the marriage and calls the Reverend a “traitor”. The wedding goes on and at the reception Jethro (Juliet’s pet pig) begins to knock the cake and Bailey attempts to save it and instead lands in it. She is now covered in the marshmallow icing and must go home and change. On her way she spots the women who disrupted the wedding and offers to help her but instead she gets in a car with someone. The next day Bailey goes to the church to make sure everything from the wedding and reception are cleaned up and instead finds the dead body of the woman on the church steps. Juliet and Reverend Brook temporarily postpone their honeymoon until they can be cleared of any wrongdoing and Juliet begs Bailey to help find the girls killer. Cass (Bailey’s friend from New York) and Bailey do begin investigating against Adrien’s wishes but Bailey thinks the girl has a link to the Amish. This is a good mystery that is fast paced and kept me up all night to finish the story. I loved the ending with her Grandmother. This series encompasses the love of family and friends and neighbors. I love this series and can’t wait for the next installment.
Things seem to be going well for Bailey King. Her new cable show is set to premiere soon, she has a boyfriend she’s in love with, family and friends that care for her, and she’s almost done with her maid of honor duties for Juliet’s wedding. Life is good, then things take a turn and turmoil is tossed into the town of Harvest when Bailey finds a woman who interrupted the nuptials dead on the steps leading to the church. It doesn’t help when a young woman from Aiden’s past shows up along with her Mother and lets Bailey know that she and Aiden are betrothed.
While Bailey trusts her instincts and Aiden, she finds that she’s questioning things more so than usual. With Cass in town for the fourth of July, she and Bailey are doing some serious sleuthing and try hard to find the killer before the killer finds and deals with Bailey.
Amanda Flower never disappoints and this fifth book in the Amish Candy Shop series delivers. This is a book to add to your summer reading list. You won’t be disappointed!
