Murder in Waiting by Lynn Cahoon is a Tourist Trap mystery, the latest in this long-running series featuring South Cove with its covey of interesting people, not the least of which are the employees and customers of Coffee, Books, and More, and its extended family, members of the Business-2-Business group set up by the city. Jill lives in the cottage left to her by her friend, Miss Emily, which had a fabulous ocean view as well as a historic wall in the backyard, part of an early Spanish mission. Life was good for Jill, except now she had to plan a bachelorette party for her friend, Amy, and she was no event planner. She decided to get going on it as the anticipation was probably worse than the planning. It was as she was thinking this that she watched the customer that had just left her store get hit by a truck. Running to Frank's side, she took note of the license plate number but realized that Frank was beyond caring. Why would someone do this and just drive away?

This series is one of the most comfortable of the cozies out there, perhaps because it has been running so long. Jill is a good character, but it is her aunt Jackie who takes the cake on zany and fun. She stormed into Jill's life and took over the business. Thankfully she didn't try to run Jill's life. That was her own domain. Greg, her police detective boyfriend, is a terrific guy, not challenged by Jill's detecting skills, and not intimidated by her take-over attitude, he was an important part of her life and they would probably someday marry. Both were skeptical for now and it was working. This story involves multiple people trying to bully her into selling her house, and not only was it a poor tactic, it was never going to happen. Watching her deal with these people was beyond entertaining. It was a good story, and, like all cozies, is totally character driven with huge success. I recommend it.

I've enjoyed every book in this series and Murder in Waiting is no different! There were several suspects and motives, which made this a particularly tricky mystery to solve, and I didn't figure any of it out until the reveal. Jill has a lot going on in this book, from getting pressure to sell her home to sabotage of her bookstore/coffee shop, and continuing to deal with the historical society about the suspected historical wall on her property. In addition to these troubles, she's trying to run her business and plan her bestie's bachelorette party. I like the characters in this series, though a few are featured less in this book than in some previous books. Jill is fiercely independent and continues to struggle with her fear of marriage and family, which I'm hoping she'll be able to overcome soon with her long-term boyfriend Greg.

I recommend this cozy to anyone who loves the beach, bookstores, or female protagonists with lovable dogs. Looking forward to many more from this fun series!

I received an advance copy of this book. This review contains my honest thoughts and opinions.

Another great read in the series. Jill has more on her hands in this one the previous books and it makes for fast paced reading. Between the historical society, the murder, Amy turning into a bridezilla, and Aunt Jackie Jill can't catch a breath or a break. Greg is a bit more open to Jill's sleuthing in this one which makes for a nice change. I love the way the author wrapped things up. Anytime I pick up a book in this series it's like greeting old friends. Highly recommend this one for a great escape read.

I always enjoy a trip to South Cove. It is a lovely, but murderous town in California where amateur sleuth Jill owns a coffee and bookstore. She tries to find the murderer of a local historian while trying to be a good maid-of-honor. organizing parties is by far not her favourite thing. On top of this land developers are interested in buying her place, but she has no interest in selling.

Another good, fast read in the series. The characters are interesting and therefore these books are always enjoyable to read. I especially like Jill’s dog Emma. Cozy mysteries are really good reads when you want to take your mind off everything and just enjoy a quick and fun read. I think it is time for Jill to stop questioning if she is ready for this and that with her boyfriend Greg.

Real Estate Hustles in Coastal Northern California
This book is part of the Tourist Trap series. Even if you have not read any of these books, this episode stands alone quite well. This is a good cozy mystery with a bunch of things going on in the sidelines. There are weddings, engagements, a hit-and-run, a DUI, and so much more for you to enjoy. This author always writes a fun and interesting story. I received this ARC book for free from Net Galley and this is my honest review.

In this, the 11th book in the series, bookstore owner and amateur sleuth Jill has her hands full. Not only does she have a business to run, she has problems with the local historical society when turn down her bid for historic landmark status. That brings out trouble in the form of a land developer. If that wasn't enough to juggle, her best friend, Amy has asked her to be her maid of honor. Boy, does that turn into crazy time when Amy morphs into a bridezilla and the bachelorette party is going to be in Vegas. One would say enough, already but no, there is murder just around the corner when one of the members of the historical society dies in a hit and run and Jill is pulled into the case. This time her boyfriend, Det. Greg King is okay with her involvement.
I enjoy this series, spending time with all of the recurring characters - family and friends alike. The mystery is complex enough to keep me guessing wrong and the ending was satisfying. While this reads well as a stand alone, reading them in order gives the reader a much better experience. I'm looking forward to the next in the series, Picture Perfect Frame, due out March 16, 2021.
My thanks to the publisher, Lyrical Press and to NetGalley for giving me an advance reading copy in exchange for my honest review.

I’ve loved this series for years and this latest addition is everything I’ve come to expect. It is skillfully written with a tight plot and great characters. There are multiple story lines within this cozy mystery and they are all neatly tied up with a bow. Truly, one of the most enjoyable books I’ve recently read.

I had just found this author a couple of weeks ago and am now addicted. I have been going back and reading all of her series but this one is one of my favorites. I love how Jill always seems to stumble into trouble even when she is trying to be good. The mystery was great and I like how all the characters are developing. I love love love Greg and look forward to seeing some forward momentum in their relationship.

When Jill Gardner agrees to be her best friend Amy's maid of honor, little did she know she'd be calming the bride while solving another murder mystery as Frank Gleason, Jill's lone supporter to have her property declared a historical landmark is tragically killed by a hit and run driver.

The Tourist Trap Mysteries are my favorite series from Lynn Cahoon! I've been with Jill from the beginning of Coffee, Books and More and have enjoyed every "case". Reading about Jill growing her business, fighting to have her home & inherited land declared a historic landmark, making loyal friends, falling in love and becoming an amateur sleuth has been like accompanying a "friend" on many adventures over the years. Jill is a relatable character who is kind, smart, honest and very curious. This book shows all her best qualities in dealing with a nervous bride and tracking a killer. The supporting characters, particularly Aunt Jackie are fun and well-written.

I'm looking forward to the next book!

I received an ARC from NetGalley. The opinions expressed are my own.

Jill and friends are back again with bachelor parties, weddings, and real estate threats. Jill owner of Cooks Books & More and her boyfriend Greg, a detective become involved as someone(s) stalking Jill’s house and land. A neighbor is killed, threats are made to Jill and others. As Jill and Greg cut things to the close, the both make it to Las Vegas. In this case what happens in Vegas doesn’t stay there.

I enjoyed the book although I felt the story lines intertwined so tightly it was confusing.

The Tourist Trap series is one of my favorite series and I always enjoy a visit back to South Cove, California. Jill Gardner, owner of Coffee, Books, and More always has a lot on her plate with local events, her boyfriend and head police detective, Greg King, and usually a murder to solve. When we visit this time, she is acting as maid of honor for her best friend, Amy, planning a bachelorette party in Vegas.
Jill's house has a potentially historical wall in her yard and the historical society has been researching it. Unfortunately, her contact at the society is talking to Jill about her case shortly before he is killed by a hit and run. He has an interesting background that leads to lots of possible suspects. On top of that, developers are trying to buy her house to build a water park and someone is trying to run her out of business. She has quite a few questions to solve while maintaining her business, home, and relationships. Is everything connected? This is a mystery that kept me guessing and found the culprit a bit of a surprise at the ending as well as another surprise in Vegas that I had somewhat guessed was going on. Another fun addition to the series.
I received a complimentary ARC from Kensington Books and Lyrical Press through NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are mine only.

Murder In Waiting is the 11th installment in the Tourist Trap cozy mystery series. I like this book, the characters are like family. The mystery is a bit predictable, I still enjoyed it and I feel this book is a fine addition to the series.

A cute cozy mystery but a little on the predictable side. The book had a great setting and the main character was compelling but the supporting cast felt a bit flat and two dimensional. The story just wasn’t my style. I think I would have enjoyed it more if I had started this series from the beginning. Of course my favorite character was Emma - I am a dog lover after all.

I absolutely adore thos series. The characters are almost like family - especially there ia a fun event like a wedding in the mix. The plot had enough turns in it where I couldn't put it down. I read it in less than one day!

I can not wait for the next visit with the gang!

After being told by the Heritage Society that her claim for the mission wall has been dumped, Heritage Society expert, Frank Gleason is killed in a hit and run in front of Jill's eyes. On top of that, she is Amy's maid of honors and need to organise the Vegas bachelorette party. She also has to deal with sabotage, a persistant realtor, a travel writer. That's a lot for one woman ! As always, Lynn Cahoo writes a book that is light and entertaining.

Quick, fun, light read. The story line was good. The characters are like friends. I would recommend it to others!

Jill doesn't know what to think when Frank Gleason is killed in a hit and run- right in front of her. He had agreed to help her with her (rejected) application for Historic landmark status. She's going to poke into what happened, with, this time, at least, the tacit approval of Greg, a detective and her love interest. The murder is less important in this latest installment in a long running series that the other events. For one thing, and perhaps most importantly, there's a lot of love in the air. Jill's trying to organize a bachelorette party in Las Vegas for her friend Amy, who has gone full bridezilla. Her aunt Jackie is also doing quite well with her beau Harold. And, of course, she's busy running Coffee, Books, and More. You should be fine with this as a standalone. The characters are nicely drawn, the mystery just twisty enough, and it's a good a good sense of humor. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. For cozy fans.

Murder in Waiting by Lynn Cahoon is the 11th novel in A Tourist Trap Mystery series. Jill Gardner has her hands full. Jill is Amy’s maid-of-honor and she had no idea that Amy would become consumed with the wedding. It seems that all Amy can talk about is the wedding (decorations, where to sit people at the reception, linen colors, table decorations). Jill is trying to plan a bachelorette party in Vegas while handling extra duties at work. Aunt Jackie is wrapped up in Harrold and plans for her own upcoming nuptials. Jill must deal with Sabotage, complaining emails, persistent realtors, a travel writer, and a developer. Just after Jill talks with Frank Gleason from the South Cove Heritage Society, a car hits the man and then takes off. Detective Greg King, Jill’s beau, is investigating, but the leads are sparse. I was surprised that Greg accepted Jill’s help (he normally tells her to stay out of the case). Jill digs into Frank’s background and speaks with his first wife. I found Murder in Waiting to be disjointed with so much going on. The mystery tied together in the end (mostly). I wanted it to be the focus not a side story (which is what it felt like to me). Eating seemed to be have a higher priority than the whodunit (there is a lot of food consumed in this book). I then felt the wrap up was rushed with an odd chase scene. The mystery can easily be solved before the solution is revealed. The trip to Vegas seemed so out of character for Amy and Justin who prefer outdoor activities. I am curious how they can afford a $40,000 wedding (I could not help but wonder considering their occupations). A Tourist Trap Mystery series is character driven. Jill, Aunt Jackie, Toby, Greg, Amy, and the gang are what make this an enjoyable series to read. I like visiting them in each book to see what they are up to. It is nice to see Aunt Jackie happy with Harrold. Emma, of course, continues to be a highlight. It is wonderful that Jill loves books and reading. I like how it is featured in the series. Jill gets ARCs that she devours and she even comments how she loves the smell of books (I concur). Murder in Waiting can be read as a standalone for those new to A Tourist Trap Mystery series. Murder in Waiting is a blithe cozy mystery with a determined developer, an assertive realtor, a scheming saboteur, party planning problems, work worries, and a bridezilla bestie.

This is my favorite Tourist Trap mystery yet and not just because of the keto friendly breakfast recipe at the back of the story. It also isn’t my favorite because Jill and company go to Vegas for a bachelorette/bachelor weekend party. It isn’t even my favorite because things get a little woo-woo for Jill. Nope, it’s my favorite because of the number of red herrings. Is it about a hit and run, is it about the mission wall, it is about Jill thinking more and more about marriage and what would change, would she have to change, is it about Aunt Jackie and Harold getting hitched, or is it something else entirely and why does everyone keep asking Jill if she is selling her cottage? Actually it is about all of those things and more (I would never reveal all of the plot twists and turns)! As confusing as all of that might sound, the story flowed nicely and you do not have to be familiar with the South Cove crew to catch on to who is who and what it what. This was a quick and enjoyable read, perfect for by the pool or at the beach.
