Queenie and Kingston are two swoony characters to fall head over heels for! I loved that Kingston and Queenie are flawed yet relatable! This read had it all, swoon, humor, and serious elements you least expect! All things I look forward to! 5 sweet stars of chaos so 1-click!
This book was amazing!! From the very first page I was hooked and couldn’t stop reading it! King and Queenie!! This is the third book in the series if you’ve read the first two you’ll have already met King, he’s the level headed guy on the team who always follows the rules and is Bishop’s best friend. Queenie now she’s the opposite she is chaos flys by the seat of her pants doesn’t make the best decisions but her heart is in the right place. I’m not going to say much as in regards to the story I’d rather not spoil anything by accident. I will say if you’ve read the Pucked Series you’ll see some familiar faces such as the remarkable Violet and you’ll fall in love with some of the newest additions. It is an amazing, fantastic read the author is awesome in her craft and I can’t wait to read more from her!! Definitely a must read!! Highly recommend!!
4.5 stars! My oh my, I absolutely adored King! And Queenie! And Everything about this book! I could not put it down, king was absolutely endearing, I can’t even say how much I loved him. And I’m crossing my fingers for a book about a specific character in the future!
I just love hockey romance stories and this one was a fun one! Ryan "King" Kingston is the goalie for Seattle's NHL team. King always follows the rules, does what is expected of him, and never crosses the line. When the world that he thought he always knew turns out to be a lie, he decides to go to a bar and get drunk. While there King ends up talking with a woman, Queenie Masterson, someone who is also drinking to forget about her life. King and Queenie hit it off, share their secrets, get drunk and end up back at King's hitting the sheets. After the best night of his life, King is disappointed that Queenie left without saying goodbye or leaving her number.
Imagine King's shock when at the first day of practice, who walks into the team meeting but Queenie. It seems she is the new assistant to the team's GM, Jake. Queenie also happens to be Jake's daughter! As King starts spending more time helping Queenie out per Jake's request, the two of them start to develop real feeling for each other. Too bad Jake told all his players that his daughter is off limits!
When both of their pasts come back to haunt them, it will take a lot of trust in each other to get past their issues in order to find their happy ending. But once they do, their story changes into a true fairy tale with a perfect happy ending.
I just adored these characters. What a case of opposites attract! For how straight and narrow King is, Queenie is all chaotic and crazy but they offset each other perfectly. I really loved the journey these two had to go on to get their love story but it was really worth it.
I'll be honest, I wasn't too hyped about reading Kingston's story. I usually like my guys a little more broody and rebellious (I'm looking at you Bishop) however King thoroughly surprised me. It was refreshing to read about a hero who was so straight laced he was uncomfortable driving 5 over the speed limit and whose approach to problem solving was so level headed that I thought "this is true husband material".
Then we have Queenie, the not so put together, off limits, running from her problems heroine. She's often referred to as chaotic, a tornado, a cyclone but I don't feel like that was her in the least. She's insecure and because of that she has become stiffled. She is relatable in the way that she isn't perfect.
Put the two together and you get a couple who complement each other so perfectly. King had me swooning and Queenie had me rooting for her. I appreciate the fact that Helena didn't write drama filled scenes in where she clearly could have, she made us see that a romance story doesn't need to be all angst and drama.
Any fans of Helena will get sucked up into this super, sweet read and will be anxiously awaiting a certain little someone's story.
My new favorite in this series, A Secret for a Secret was a delightfully sweet, sinfully sexy romance. Since meeting Ryan "King" Kingston in A Favor for a Favor, I was curious about this wholesome hockey player, and could not wait for his story. I had a hunch there was more to this strait-laced goalie than meets the eye and boy was he a pleasant surprise. What began as an evening of drinking, sharing secrets, and unbridled passion forever changed this couple's lives. A humorous and heartwarming opposites-attract love story, with a hint of drama and all the feels, King and his Queenie had me giggling and swooning throughout this entire read.
One drunken evening two strangers met, each feeling vulnerable, and decided to share their deepest secrets. The attraction between them was so intense, both were all in for an unforgettable one-night stand and later, haunted by the memories. It took a few months for King and Queenie's paths to cross again as they now work for the same NHL team. His hot hookup turned out to be the general manager's daughter, and worse, he unknowingly broke a significant rule ~ Queenie was off-limits. But that didn't stop King from pursuing and claiming his fair queen.
King was not your average hockey player and he threw me for a loop in a good way. I'm so used to the broody and abrasive hero typically found in sports romances. Then along came King, who was more boy scout than bruiser as he was gentle, patient, and incredibly loving. Even-tempered and a rule follower, he was the perfect gentleman with a tremendous heart. The way he loved, encouraged and protected Queenie had me gushing.
King also possessed a delectable dirty side that I completely LOVED. Beneath that clean-cut persona, lived a lustful and dominant man, who was a beast. I just adored both sides of his personality.
Queenie Masterson was a flaky hot mess. Funny, witty, and beyond kind, she was a sweet and likable heroine. Pandemonium seemed to surround her, which I found endearing, as it only added to her sparkling personality. Her chaos added light and life to King's relatively calm world.
However, Queenie struggled with insecurity issues, believing she was unworthy and inadequate, especially when it came to accomplishing goals. I admired the way she fought to overcome these feelings of self-doubt to find her courage, passion, and strength. And with King by her side, it was a beautiful thing to see Queenie blossom.
I enjoyed every moment of King and Queenie's journey, as they had a deep connection, a tremendous amount of chemistry, and complemented each other beautifully. Great fun spending time with this loony crew of both old favorites and lovable new characters. The Waters' kiddies were adorable and I could not help falling in love with them. The relationship between Queenie and Lavender Waters was particularly touching. A Secret for a Secret was another fun and flirty romantic comedy from Hunting's creative imagination. If you are looking for an amusing and sexy read, this romance is definitely for you.
I voluntarily read an advance copy of this publication
If I had to sum up my thoughts about this book in one sentence, it would be: Move over book boyfriends, you're about to be joined by another AMAZING hero!
Helena Hunting really knocked it out of the park with this story. She's created a wonderful cast of characters, each with their own personalities and goals. I absolutely loved the entire cast. The hero, Kingston (aka King), is the sweetest man! He's strong, kind, sexy and looks after those he cares about. He also has a touch of OCD and every little quirk he had just added to his deliciousness.
Then there was Queenie, the heroine... Queenie had a rough start in life and later made a few poor choices but with each setback, she worked hard to overcome obstacles and really make a life for herself. She was strong and independent, and although she often doubted herself, she really tried her best each and every time. She was also the perfect match for Kingston. She spiced up his life and he brought the calm to her storm.
As for the side characters, I loved Queenie's dad. He was a wonderful man and caring father, ready to take on the world to help his little girl. Kingston's "momster" also really added to the story and provided a strong sounding board for King to discuss and process his thoughts and feelings.
The storyline for A Secret for a Secret was very character-focused and I really think that was a perfect choice for this book. There was so much character growth that I think if any more action was added to the plot, it would've been too much. As a reader, I was able to really just focus on getting to know these characters and fall in love with them as they fell in love with each other. This book was so incredibly sweet and I loved every minute of it!
What an amazing 5 star story this was. I was addicted and hooked from the first page to the last one.
Kingston is a professional hockey player. He lives by the book and rules. He’s disciplined, extremely honest and well mannered. Then he has a one night stand with a woman he meets in a bar. He never does that. He sees her 6 weeks later but she’s forbidden. Can he resist her?
This is book 3 in this series and I have binge read the other 2 and this was no different. It’s addicting and highly entertaining. I just love these characters. They were perfect for each other, they balanced themselves out. The storyline is just perfectly executed and flawless. Bottomline this is a must read.
Standalone told in a dual POV with an HEA. I strongly recommend this story and the other previous ones also.
Seriously, I am loving this series. The little bit we see of King in A Favor for a Favor had me super interested in what his story would be like. The milk, the khakis, and all the manners. The is the ultimate opposites attract and it was great! Getting to know these characters was super fun. King, well he is definitely book boyfriend material, even though I don’t know how I could handle letting him drive (you’ll see). And Queenie? She is a hot mess, but for a lot of valid reasons. The story touches on the impact of keeping secrets out of embarrassment, which is just such a real topic. It’s something many of us has done, and the majority of the time it doesn’t make things better. The support and caring we see as events happen in this book is super heartwarming. I just loved it and I’m hoping we’re going to get more from the All in Series!
King was everything I needed and more! I loved loved loved this hero! thank you Miss Hunting for giving me a normal hero, someone so sweet and down to earth that it had me swooning for the entire book! I couldn't put it down!
Helena Hunting's stories are never boring. They are never cliche. She brings something refreshing and something unique in every story. And that's just mindblowing. A Secret for A Secret could have been a predictable sports romance. But since it's genius creation of Helena Hunting I got a witty, sexy, heartaching and swoonworthy to the maximum romance. With a difference.
Ryan Kingston, star Goalie of NHL is a nice guy. Period. He is a rule follower to the core. He prefers order. He is level headed, rational, calm and truly gentleman. But all his calm flies out of the window when he enters the first team meeting of the season and finds his general manager's new assistant aka his daughter was his one night stand from six months back. And Queenie is nothing he has ever experienced. She is pure choas and his life is going to be whole lot interesting.
King is nothing like the usual jocks. His manners are impeccable. He considers everyone's emotion. He even asked his manager's permission to date his daughter. He is unicorn among men. But he is also alpha in an understated way. He is extremely protective of Queenie. He even shows a rare violent streak when someone hurts his queen and that is so adorably sexy. He is sexy as sin and charming in sweetest way possible. He is patient, understanding and is a source of strength for his partner. He doesn't react irrationally and that's an attractive trait in any man. And on other hand we have Queenie. A complete smartass. An impulsive yet responsible, fierce, cute, caring and sassy woman. But it's not all rainbows and sunshine for them. Queenie has a past that's not exactly pretty. Her self confidence has been hurt way too many times by people who should have cheered her up. Her heart is a broken place with guilt, self doubt and pain. Her first reaction is to run and hide when things go tough- to protect herself. And things are getting very very tough. They have this insane chemistry with so many shades. I loved the lighthearted playful and sexy part. I also loved the intense and heartbreaking part. They have a very real relationship that I could identify with immediately. They were true partners.
Helena Hunting's words always make me feel every single emotion so hard. A Secret for A Secret was no exception. I laughed and smiled like crazy while reading the hilarious scenes. I wiped my eyes and my heart ached with bitter-sweet emotions. My inside melted and filled with warm fuzzy feelings. Now that's what I call a romance treat.

I enjoyed this book.
"He is Yin and I'm Yang. He's sugar and I'm salt"
If you have read the previous books within this series you will be happy be know that Kingston is the same old Kingston. His preferred drink while out is still a glass of milk, he still wears polo and khakis, he still drives like he is taking his test while never breaking a rule and he never has a one night stand. While playing goalie for the Seattle hockey, Kingston is known to never step out of line, never doing anything "wrong" or lose his tempter. Until one night when he does something completely out of character. He gets drunk and has a one night stand. A few weeks later, the girl shows up and happens to be the NHL general manager's daughter! OOPPSS!
Queenie is a cyclone, she is a complete mess and tells you exactly how it is. She is a force to be reckoned with. She had made a lot of mistakes in the past, some she is still living with the consequences.
I loved Kingston and Queenie together! (King and Queen, how cute)! Queenie, even though she is the complete opposite of Kingston, they work. They fit each other perfectly! I will admit, in my opinion, I preferred book one and two, I felt this book lacked the same charm and banter between the characters. In saying that I will never be able to book at strawberries the same haha!
As always, I loved the writing technique and the storyline. This is the third book within the" All in" series. I would like to add I have read the previous two books so I do have the background knowledge of the characters within this series. That being said it can be read as a standalone.
Overall I really enjoyed this read. It is a quick and captivating read.
King and Queenie’s story blew me away and I’m sure A Secret for a Secret will appeal to all romance lovers, it’s a book that certainly ticked all my boxes, I swooned, I smiled, I laughed and I shed a few tears at this emotional entertaining read.
This story captivated me from the first page to the last line and I have to say I really didn’t want this book to end because I was so engrossed in the story as well as the characters and I now have a new book boyfriend to swoon over who goes by the name of Ryan Kingston or King to his friends.
King is the good boy always following the rules except for one night when he finds himself having a night he will never forget with the adorable Queenie what he doesn’t know is she is the daughter of the general manger of the hockey team he plays for......
The woman he thought had walked away without even saying goodbye is now firmly fixed in his life....
The chemistry is sizzling, the story is a beautifully written romance and the banter is perfect. This book has all the feels you want and expect in a great read so I urge you all to one click this gem.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley
King has been such a fun character to watch evolve over this series. He is so prim and proper, and I loved getting to see a different side of him.
Queenie absolutely broke my heat. She had had so many let downs in her life, and she just needed some goodness to come her way.
These two were a perfect match. They complimented each other so well and broke down each other’s walls.
There was some OM/OW drama, but not enough to make it overwhelming. The drama honesty made me love these characters even more. You always knew where they stood, and their intentions.

It's been a while since i read a Helena Hunting book.
I originally signed up with for this book with every intention of reading the first two books, but life got in the way and it come to me having to read it without the others.
So safe to say i was nervous because what if i didn't fully understand it because i hadn't read the others anf King really caught my eye so i started and you know what? I didn't struggle one bit without the others, admittedly i wish i had read the others just for the fact i got to see the previous characters and i love seeing couples progressing in the background of other books.
But King and Queenie was amazing, i loved King so much and his little quirks and the way he was and i loved Queenie with him.
I'm totally going to have to go back and read the other two at some point because I'd love to see how they got their HEA.
Also loved seeing Violet and Alex again!
❤
This was super cute and oh so sweet! I truly adored King and Queenie. How cute are they?!! Even their nicknames. The boy scout and the babe! Lol
Here’s the breakdown:
These two meet at low point for each of them and get to talking over drinks. One thing leads to another…
The next time they’re face to face is when Queenie is introduced as the GM’s daughter. Queue the awkwardness!!
Here’s what I loved:
Queenie is a walking talking juxtaposition and enigma. She can be insecure and vulnerable, yet also strong-willed and headstrong. I found the dynamic to be fascinating. She’s a wild child and very vocal about her likes and dislikes, particularly the carnal ones. That not only shocked me, but our hero as well. We both loved it immensely. Lolol
Speaking of the hero. King is literally the cutest thing ever. I just wanted to eat him up. Such a dang boy scout!! Hahahaha Loved him.
The sexual chemistry was great. The writing, plot, and pace, were executed well. This is a solid read. Another great read from Helena Hunting!
Let me start off with saying I love hockey, I have season tickets for my favorite team. It’s just amazing, so when Helena Hunting decided to do a spin off from her Pucked series I was jumping off the walls. Each book has been better that the other. I love Bishop, like LOVE him (Book 2 - A Favor for A Favor), but we got a glimpse of Ryan Kingston in his book and just knew his book would be just as amazing!
Kingston is the quiet keep to himself, no bullshit, straight up kind of guy. He is not your normal NFL playboy player. He doesn’t sleep around and doesn’t go out and get fucked up. Until the one day he got some news that turned his world upside down, went to the bar and order one of every drink. While he was there drinking he met Queenie. He took her home and they fooled around, the next morning she was gone. He doesn’t do one night stands, but there was something about her that had her in the back of his mind all the time. There was an energy between them that he had never felt with anyone before, but he had no way of contacting her, she left without leaving a note. Until 6 weeks later when she appears as the assistant to the team manager and turns out she is his daughter.
Queenie life has always been a mess. She has tried to stand up on her own 2 feet for a long time, but there is always someone that brings her down. She sees herself as a failure because her mom has told her that since the beginning. She is not part of her life but when she comes around Queenie’s life get turned around. She has always relied on her dad, he has always been her rock. Someone that she can always rely on. To everyone it might look like when something doesn’t go right for her or she doesn’t like something she runs home to her dad. The day she met Ryan Kingston though is a day she will ever forget. The electricity between them was insane, but she knew she had to leave because her storm of a life is no good for anyone.
Kingston knew that she was it for him from the beginning, he was not going to give up on her. He would push and do whatever he could to date Queenie, even asking her dad, the team manager for permission. He was going to take it slow because he just knew that was what she needed. Everything about her was a drug to Kingston. She was his Queen and he would do anything to prove it to her. Everything was a dream until the day Queenie’s past came walking in to the hockey arena. Kingston was just starting to break down her walls, but she started pulling away. Can Kingston except the truth and build a future together with her. Can he move passed her past and stand by her side?
Can Queenie be the storm in Kingston’s calm?
This is a 5 stars book for me. It had me pulled in the whole time. I recommend this book and the whole series. Love these characters and love getting introduced to new ones with ever book. I don’t know if it’s just me but I want Corey’s story so bad! There is something there that we do not know about.
Received this ARC for my honest opinion and review.
A Secret for a Secret is book three in the All In series. This is Ryan Kingston's story. (AKA King or Kingston). I read book one and two and was so interested in what his story would be. It did not disappoint. Ryan is the goalie of the Seattle hockey team and he is a polo/khaki wearing, grandpa slow driving, milk drinking gentleman. Really. He is so adorable with how cautious and a neat freak he is. He is also a complete opposite to Queenie, who is the general manager of the hockey team's daughter.
Queenie and Kingston meet at a bar, have a kinda/sorta one night stand together, but Kingston doesn't remember much as he was really drunk. He doesn't usually drink, so this was out of sorts for him. Of course, he had just learned a major family secret. In turn, Queenie tells one of her secrets. When Queenie shows up at his hockey meeting as the assistant to her father, he is shocked and excited.
I loved that this book had the author's usual comedy. I don't think I will look at a strawberry milkshake the same way again! This story had pretty low angst, which I was okay with, and pretty high steam. Kingston has a crazy, meddling family and Queenie has a surprise secret thrown in there, too. Overall, another winner for me.
Thank you to Montlake Romance and NetGalley for an electronic arc in exchange for my honest review.
Passionate, Emotional, Real
I have loved each book Helena Hunting has written in this series. She certainly knows how to write a story that's powerful, enticing and completely endearing, and A SECRET FOR A SECRET is definitely one of them. Her characters are real in the sense that it is easy to relate to them. Real issues. Real life. Real love.
Ryan Kingston, what a man! He's sexy, romantic, passionate and stole my heart from the outset. I've been waiting for quite a while to read his story. He is a man who has a lot weighing on his mind after a secret has been revealed. Queenie Masterson's life is utter chaos. She returns home to sort out her life, but she's also bringing a secret and baggage that she never knew existed.
While Queenie is chaotic, Ryan is the exact opposite. A one night stand turns into so more much more when they discover they are employed by the same organisation. Queenie is the daughter and new assistant to Ryan's boss, a situation that has them agreeing to keep their relationship platonic ... yeah right!!!! Queenie draws out feelings Ryan has never felt before, and he allows her to dream of a different life.
Ryan and Queenie's story was an emotional one that really pulled at my heartstrings. There were also many moments that made me laugh out loud ... especially where Bishop was involved, that man has no filter!! My heart bled for Queenie when her past caught up to her, can this girl not catch a break? Ryan too, was dealing with a secret that could have destroyed hi, instead he spends a large amount of time thinking about it and working out the best way to deal with it.
I understand Ms Hunting was only going to have three books in this series, I can only hope that she changes her mind and writes more. A SECRET FOR A SECRET outstanding, powerful and thoroughly enjoyable.
Read and Reviewed for Reading Is Our Satisfaction
FIVE STARS
Kingston and Queenie were the king and queen of this series for me. Their chemistry and connection were spot on and definitely swoon-worthy. A Secret For A Secret had a great mix of emotional drama, humor, flirty banter, conflict, and of course steam. I still need to read the Pucked series but I really love how Hunting brings in characters from previous books -- kind of like one big hockey player family reunion (where do I sign up for that?!)
Helena Hunting is an auto-buy author for me. She writes books and characters that I love to read and A Secret For A Secret was another perfect example of that.
