The title says it all: these hand lettering projects are simple. The instructions and the layout are straightforward and easy to follow. There's a variety of ideas that will help a beginner or someone looking for practical ideas come up with a good lo0king piece. For a more advanced crafter, this one may be a bit too basic.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I had trouble downloading the doc. Would not load onto the the Netgalley Shelf or transfer to my kindle document. Maybe try again later.
This book is a really thorough review of what it is to hand letter. It gives some great and easy-to-use instructions on how to start lettering on your own. The best part of this book, though, is all the neat projects! I love the ideas for making ornaments during the holidays. I might just have to use these ideas myself.
I received a copy of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This is a good basic hand lettering project book, with detailed instructions and pictures to get you started.
Overall a good resource for someone that is interested in completing one of the projects outlined in the book..
This is great book if you’re into hand lettering. They even include different art lettering projects for various holidays and home decor. They are pretty simple as easy to follow along as far as I can I tell. If you like hand hand lettering I’d give this a once over. They tell you all the material you‘d need for the projects too. Unfortunately when I downloaded the book the instructions and projects were partially cut off on every page so I wasn’t able to try any. But you can see the some of instructions and part of the finished projects. Thanks for allowing me the opportunity to view this ARC on NetGalley.
Super Simple Hand Lettering by Kiley Bennett is inspirational in the way of inspiring 15 projects. I did not find it so much a book that teaches hand lettering. It does however have a few pages to refresh what I already know. Some of my favorite projects were the writing on glass and adding words to a denim jacket. I also thought the wrap that goes around flowers to be just a simple yet powerful addition to an already longed for gift.
I received an ARC digital copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
The title of the book offers super simple hand lettering projects and that is what you get. If you have hand lettering experience, you can jump right in and create something as 'simple' as an invitation card. If you have no previous experience with hand lettering, Kiley will guide you through the basics in her short revision course.
I really liked the projects! Easy to follow instructions for projects that can embellish something as mundane as an envelope.
Simple and effective. Bennett has made a great collection of easy to do hand lettering project that can be used over and over. Perfect for a beginner with a few more challenging pieces along the way. Will definitely be picking this up for gifts for my girlfriends!
Super Simple Hand Lettering Projects by Kiley Bennett is a beautiful book that has "Techniques and Craft Projects Using Hand Lettering" to personalize items around your home or for special occasions.
There is a brief section in the book about the actual lettering techniques, but this book is meant to give ideas for projects to showcase the hand lettering skills you have rather than teach the fundamentals.
I love the layout of the book, the fun ideas Bennett has presented, and the step by step guide to make each project turn out wonderfully!
Many thanks to Netgalley and Fox Chapel Publishing for the advance copy.
I think I would have really enjoyed this book, however, there was no way to even send it to kindle, so I could not read it. The format they had would not open and was unreadable.
This book had a lot of fun projects for hand lettering novices. Many of the projects do not require a ton of skill so it's very accessible. As a person that's studied a lot of hand lettering and is very comfortable with forming letters this was perhaps a bit too simply for my taste.
What I love most about this book is how practical it is. You don't have to be a master hand letterer or go buy a bunch of fancy tools - Kiley Bennet shows you how to use multiple art mediums to add personalization and charm to gifts and projects with basic materials and things you already have on hand. Her language is straightforward and detailed, with tips to avoid pitfalls. Her approach isn't to blow you away with creative solutions, but to bring the lovely touches you see on Instagram and Pinterest within reach of the average crafty person, though those bursting with ideas will have plenty to build on here. The book is enhanced by the range of surfaces she covers, and the step by step instructions and photos are top notch. #KileyinKentucky #NetGalley

Super Simple Hand-Lettering Projects is a tutorial and style guide for hand lettering crafts by Kiley Bennett. Released 12th May 2020 by Fox Chapel, it's 128 pages and available in paperback and ebook formats.
I enjoyed this short book. The pictures are all very clear and colorful, the projects are clean and appealing, and the text is upbeat and encouraging. The color thumbnail gallery/table of contents is followed by a very short introduction to lettering and calligraphy techniques. The bulk of the book is taken up by the 15 (by my count) projects. The projects themselves are varied and attractive, from a personalized serving tray to gift tags, chalkboard projects, ornaments, cupcake toppers, and more. Most all of the projects could certainly be easily adapted to other surfaces. All of the templates are included. Each tutorial contains an introduction, materials list (nothing too exotic or difficult to source), and step by step photo tutorials from start to finish. Tips and alternative finishes are included in the tutorials in highlighted sidebars. The book also includes a short index.
This would make a nice addition to the home crafter's library, or for the bullet journal enthusiast, beginning calligrapher, and similar papercrafting fans. Four stars.
Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.
I loved it! I have been trying to learn more of lettering because I started doing bullet journals and this book helped a lot. It has projects and techniques that guides you and help you improve your hand lettering. The instructions were easy to follow. If it’s your first time, it will be challenging at first but you will eventually get the hang of it. Remember that practice makes perfect! This book is good for beginners :)
While I don't know if I would say that all these hand-lettering projects are super simple (as stated in the title), the author has collected an interesting set of things you can do with your hand lettering skills. Each project has multiple photographs to help you master each step. Different surfaces are hand-lettered in these projects, including fabric, pumpkins (real or fake), plaster, and wood. Projects include fun things like hand lettering on a jacket, a cutting board, and Christmas ornaments.

While I don't know if I would say that all these hand-lettering projects are super simple (as stated in the title), the author has collected an interesting set of the things you can do with your hand lettering skills. There are 15 projects in total, though at the end of each one, she gives you multiple ideas where you can use the basic concepts of the project in different ways. The book starts with a brief refresher on how to hand letter and the different tools to use. This author does have another book on just how to hand letter, so not much detail is given; she even refers you to that book in this basics section. Each project has multiple photographs to help you master each step. Different surfaces are hand lettered in these projects, including fabric, pumpkins (real or fake), plaster, and wood. Projects include fun things like hand lettering on a jacket, a cutting board, and Christmas ornaments. If you're already into hand lettering, this book will likely inspire you.
I found this book exactly as the title said- super simple projects! It assumes a knowledge of hand lettering and all the projects listed in here are very doable. It ranges from simple placecards to a bit more complex with lettering on the globe. The steps are simple to follow and explains it all clearly. My biggest takeaway is to use proper guidelines for formatting and spacing and to just keep practicing.
some variety of projects that can be done throughout the year - can adjust to time of year. Some really simple ideas and shown how to do project with photos to go along with steps.
Beautiful book with well presented instructions and ideas. Perfect for anyone who wants to give lettering a go.
Loved Loved Loved this.
It is exactly what I was looking for when I wanted to start my lettering journey.
