A fun, lighter read that brings the drama of reality TV and the inviting feel of HGTV into this sweet, Southern, sassy read. Hadley and Max couldn't be more opposite from their lifestyles, to their cooking, I liked how they were contrasted against each other, and how even though they tend to not have the most peaceful of interactions they do force each other to show and confront parts of themselves that have been avoided for too long.



In a way this book felt like an extended meet cute, and I don't want to say too much, but as a whole we don't get to see as much of the relationship, and personal soul-searching as I was hoping for--despite them being in their heads quite a bit (not a bad thing). It's almost like we get to see the kinda a behind the scenes of the beginning of things and what was happening just while the shows were taping-probably not a good explanation. But I liked the characters, and in a way felt like my time with them was cut short.



Hadley is sweet and sassy, her inner dialog contrasts with her sweet, polite outward demeanor, which is contrasted with Max, who comes to many realizations over the course of the book. I liked how the various side characters are used effectively to show contrast, and also a deeper look into the main characters.



This was a quick read, enjoyable, and fun. It's a fun, opposites attracts romance, that is clean, but besides mentioning Hadley being a Christian a couple of times, and Max seeing something different in her, it doesn't dig into the faith of the characters more, which I personally think was sadly a missed opportunity in a release from a known Christian fiction publisher. It was a fun read, with very astute pop culture references that brought the story to life, with antics that kept me wondering what they would do next.

A well written and entertaining inspirational romance. Well crafted plot and believable characters. I highly recommend this book. I received an arc from the publisher and Netgalley and this is my unbiased review.

This was just not the right book for me. I thought I was getting a fun enemies to lovers trope with snarky banter in a foodie setting. This played out more like a hallmark movie. Hadley was an overly accommodating doormat. Max wasn't really horrible (his 30 day rehab completely changed him). And it was so sweet I could feel the cavities forming. Many may enjoy this book, it wasn't a good fit for me.

This is a sweet and clean romance that has plenty of action and intrigue! Hadley and Max get off to a bang-up start competing against each other on a cooking reality show. They end up being paired together, to boost ratings, and adventures ensue. Big issues of grief, loss, family troubles, and alcoholism are covered through the story, and the characters each discover just a bit more about themselves. Perfect for someone who loves watching foodie tv!

I really liked Hadley and Max I thought they were great characters and they had a lot of chemistry. I thought the writing style was interesting in that it was only first person from her and then third person during from his perspective. I found that a little confusing because all of a sudden it was switched to third person and I was a little lost, but I did like getting his perspective. The humor was great, there were a couple of times that I actually laughed out loud while reading. I enjoyed plot and I thought it was really different and I liked that the conflict was outside the two characters. I thought it was a little strange that they like kissed once and then all of a sudden they were talking about a relationship and how she doesn't date. I loved the references to the country musicians throughout, that was a great touch. Overall, I just thought it was super cute, but there was a bit of a disconnect between them hooking up and getting together.

What an absolutely delightful read! Chefs Max and Hadley stir up trouble together in this fun book about two rival chefs who are pitted against each other on a season of a famous cooking show. Will they continue to be rivals or learn to work (or more) together? This culinary fiction will keep you hooked. Perfect summer story.

When a skilled author writes a book involving chefs, bakers, or anyone in the food industry I’m a goner. I’ve found reading books about food and the making of delicious dishes is really hard on my waistline because all I want to do is either cook or bake. Then I must eat what I make, Of Course! Unfortunately (or fortunately), I’m not that good so mostly I just salivate all over the book.
So, when I heard Bethany Turner had written one of “those” books, I knew I was going to be in for it.
What I also got was wonderful dialogue, banter that will knock your socks off and keep you rolling on the floor, fantastic characters to fall in love with, heart-warming moments, and sweet swoon-worthy romance.
Bethany Turner has a wonderful way of writing. It's fresh and delightful even when it was dealing with some difficult issues of these characters’ past. She gave her characters spunk and yet they also had depth and the willingness to learn from their mistakes. This book has many of God's truths in it, but it's not preachy.
I really enjoyed this book and would highly recommend others to pick it up.

I think the foodies out there will enjoy this book as it follows two chefs as the main characters. I'm not one to sit and watch the food network, but admit that the premise still drew me in. As is the case with each of Bethany Turner's books, I laughed out loud with some of the one-liners and references to pop culture. I would classify this book as a clean-read rather than Christian fiction.

Bethany Turner’s latest release is an interesting story of polar opposites battling it out on national television and in life. Her characters are an interesting mix of crazy, maddening guy chef versus sweet but somewhat naïve girl chef.
I loved the opening scene, which set the tone for the rest of the novel. The descriptions were so vivid and the dialogue true to life, I could hear and see everything that was happening “on set”. A major catastrophe pits our hero and heroine against each other and for the rest of the pages readers experience the aftermath of the prologue.
The hero has a MAJOR, and I mean MAJOR, fall out so his story is a tough one to come back from. The heroine, poor thing, is so sweet to everyone and everybody that she doesn’t know when she’s being taken. And does she get taken.
Though marketed as a Christian Fiction novel, I was hard-pressed to find a spiritual thread at all (well, our hero ended up in a place where he was exposed to New Age philosophy, which kind of helped him out). Sadly, this novel misses the mark for Christian Fiction (and I think the opportunity was lost, when our hero falls from grace it sets up a perfect scenario for genuine faith to grow).
That being said, this is a clean, sweet, rom-com for readers who enjoy foodie books.

Bethany Turner is really making a name for herself within the romantic comedy genre. Her humor is spot on and her characters always have great interplay. This book is no exception--the chemistry between Hadley and Max is delightful and their back-and-forth banter never failed to bring a smile to my face. Even the deeper issues of the story are handled with grace, and made me care about the characters even more. Plus...it features cooking shows! If you're a devotee of the Food Network and other such shows, you will certainly feel right at home reading this book (and more than a little hungry as well).
There is so much to adore about this novel, go order it right now!

Hadley Beckett’s Next Dish is a brilliant inspirational Rom-Com. I love everything about it. The characters are well developed, flawed and intriguing. You can tell the author did her research on the culinary reality shows because her portrayal seems authentic and realistic. The pacing of the story was spot on and the friendship/romance developed naturally. This author has a unique and fresh voice in inspirational fiction.

Hadley Beckett’s Next Dish was as good as I hoped it would be! Bethany Turner’s voice is fun, witty, and refreshing. The banter between Max and Hadley kept my attention and it wasn’t a mushy but a contemporary romance! I’m so excited to see what she writes next!

Chopped has been my comfort food lately. I'm not sure why, but whenever I have a spare minute I throw it on and let Ted Allen, mystery ingredients, and knife skills soothe me. So Hadley Beckett's Next Dish was the perfect side dish in my time of culinary obsession.

Our protagonists and Hadley Beckett, host of At Home with Hadley and Max Cavanough, host of To the Max and known in culinary circles as the playboy chef. Hadley is known for her Southern sass and Max is known for berating those around him with a drink in his hand. Obviously, it's a match made in heaven.

The story begins with Hadley and Max competing on America's Fiercest Chef. The whole filming process has been a struggle, but when Hadley wins, Max's temper explodes. He knocks her dish to the floor, calls her a bunch of terrible things, and with that their personas as enemies is cemented.

We then meet Hadley and Max again a few months later, after Max goes through rehab for alcohol and anger management and Hadley's career starts to take off at a breakneck pace. To their combined horror, they're asked to appear together on the culinary show stable, Renowned which features a different chef each season. It dives into their personal life, their cooking, and everything in between. Not great for two people who are sworn enemies...

This book was pretty special. I loved the culinary focus and the progression of Hadley and Max's relationship. As they get to know each other - the real versions, not their TV personalities - they realize that they have been wrong about each other and things are much more complicated than they appear. I liked that they develop a genuine friendship before getting hot and heavy (not that hot and heavy happens as this is Christian Fiction). They worked through their issues together and were able to form a real relationship, not the ever-hated insta-love.

This is a book with great charm, humor, and character development. I had a couple of gripes with some of the fights between Max and Hadley - they started to get tedious after a while, but in the end, it all came together. If you love a happy ending then you will love every saccharine-sweet moment of this one.

I loved it! Hadley Beckett's Next Dish was a delightful fun loving story about two chefs, competing for the prize. As you know many cooking shows are based on competition. And Oh what a ride this one is.

Hadley Beckett is smart and spunky. She wields a dessert dish like it was a sword. Making her way to the top, which is no easy feat for anyone, she proves she can win against one of the top chefs. When Max Cavanaugh pitches a fit after his loss, degrading Hadley along the way, he is relegated to 'anger management'. But Max wants a come back. Can Hadley trust the self absorbed bad boy? Pitched together for a once in a lifetime adventure, will Max's change be enough to win Hadley's trust.

Absolutely a great read. Entertaining, hilarious, totally enjoyable.I'm off to find other books by Bethany Turner.

An entertaining novel featuring Bethany Turner's trademark sense of humor coupled with a deep-dive into more nuanced territory. While this is a book featuring fictional celebrity chefs and their popular cooking shows, it's also a story about redemption and second chances. Turner possesses a keen ability to balance her characters' quick-witted dialogue with powerful internal reactions. I like to know what the characters are thinking and feeling because that's how I become invested in the story.
Max is a despicable dude at the beginning of the book. His quest to climb out of the pit makes for a delightful read. I thoroughly enjoyed his character transformation. The novel's conclusion left me with a satisfied smile.

I have always grabbed a Bethany Turner book expecting a lighthearted funny romance with a great message.
I really liked all the food! Its books like these that make me want to cook (and eat)! Seriously I could go for Max's Chicken wraps right now!
I really love the hate/love trope and this one definitely was a good embodiment of one of my all time favorite tropes.
Bethany Turner's characters always come to life for me and Hadley and Max are no exception, they are well developed, they have depth and flaws and I loved rooting for them.

Perhaps it was because of what was going on in my personal life at the time, but I didn't find this one humorous like her previous two.
This book was unique for a couple reasons.
#1 I found this book to be more of a contemporary romance than a Rom-com. There was light and humorous moments, but it was more about the story than the comedy. (Again, this could just be me, I was in a real low spot when I read it).
#2 I found this book to be much lighter in the Christian element than her other two. I know some people prefer this and I'm not saying that I need a Bible verse on every page, but I would have liked to see Max's spiritual journey develop a bit more for my taste.

They think they know the other person, but once they start to spend more time together they realise they don't know them at all. As they open up to each other and work together they start to fall for each other, but others are still trying to get them to compete against each other, so who will win in the end?

I liked how it was told from each of their points of view.

If you're not a foodie before reading this book, Ms. Turner will turn you into one by the final page of her new book!

After a disastrous cooking challenge, two chefs who couldn't be more different are faced with a challenge--working together. Chef Max is arrogant and loud. Chef Hadley is sweet as a glass of southern tea. Together, they're like oil and vinegar having to put aside their differences for the sake of television ratings. The friction between the two characters quickly gives way to their feelings and the truth behind the personas they are on screen and off screen. Lots of fun television and movie references throughout brought light-heartedness to the story.

This was odd in a delightful way! For a while I kept feeling like this story really needed to get going and then as I sat there after I finished it, I realised we had gotten a beautifully full story that had everything it needed and didn't waste time on nonsene and drivel. I LOVED both Hadley and Max. Finally, a contemporary romance where both protagonists behave like adults; talk to each other, trust each other, act sensibly even if emotionally-driven!

This is a delightful and redeeming story about giving people a chance, giving yourself a chance, and learning who you can trust. This story had all the right ingredients, blended together with just the right methods and timings. An absolutely delectible treat!
