That book was the definition of beautiful and breathtaking!

So the book is split into different parts, showing you the mythological creatures for each continents. You will travel from one continent to the other with new creatures in mind and new tales to share. Each creature has a double-page spread with beautiful illustrations and with an explanation and who they are and what they did. Sometimes you will even get the change to have two more pages sharing the tale of one of the creature letting you know it a little bit more...

I looooved that book and I will definitely buy a physical copy of it when it comes out. It was simply beautiful and really well-done. I think reader from all over the world from all ages who like mythology, creatures in general and beautiful illustrations will love this book. No need to rush and read everything at once. Take your time, enjoy the stories, the illustrations and share them around you...

I want to start by thanking NetGalley and Good Wives and Warriors for sending me a copy of MYTHOPEDIA! It truly was a wonderfully written encyclopedia of mythical beast and their stories. I have such a love for storytelling and all mythologies, and MYTHOPEDIA brought me into so many new words rife with vivid creatures and their backgrounds. Personally, I would not recommend this for those who want incredibly detailed descriptions of different mythologies. However, MYTHOPEDIA opens up so many doorways into the cultures and lifestyles of other people, as well as their deepest loves and fears. Thanks to this encyclopedia, I now have a keen interest in Egyptian Mythology! That was my absolute favorite part of this book, since I already knew so much about the Norse, Greek, and Roman mythologies. The artwork is also stunning on multiple levels, and help the reader really visualize how majestic and powerful each mythical being is. I would definitely recommend this book to those of you who want an intro into numerous cultures and the creatures in their beliefs!

Encyclopedia about magical creatures??? I needed it. I love these kinds of books so much.
When I opened it, my mouth remained open. The book is full of beautiful illustrations.
There were a lot of mythical beasts in it, and I haven’t heard about most of them. Every beast has illustration so I could easily imagine them. There was also a lot of new information for me, and a lot of mythology, too. The truth is that I was bored in some places, I couldn’t concentrate on it completely. I’d rather put this book on a shelf and read it when having mood for it, not everything in one place.

Amikor kinyitottam, eltátottam a szám. Gyönyörű képekkel illusztrált lények telis-tele a könyvben, amelyek kontinensekre van szétosztva.
Rengeteg lény van a könyvben, sokról nem hallottam még. Mindről egy-egy kép, így könnyen el tudtuk képzelni. Rengeteg új infó volt benne, rengeteg mitológiával. Az egyetlen dolog, amibe bele tudok kötni, hogy néhol untam pár infót, nem tudott teljesen lekötni. Inkább polcra tenném ezt a könyvet, és olvasgatnám, amikor kedvet kapok hozzá.

I will be honest it was the cover that caught my attention first, it was so striking that my eye couldn’t help but be drawn to it and then as soon as I saw that it was a book about mythical beasts I knew I had to read it.

The illustrations in this book are just amazing, so vibrant and beautiful. Sometimes taking up a full page spread so that you can really get a feel for which mythical beast you are reading about and sometimes they are smaller to give a snippet of the story but let the words do the talking.

It is written in a very simple and easy to understand way and is split into sections of the different continents of the world. Some of the beasts have just a page explaining where they originated, what they are said to look like and what they do but others then have another page spread telling a story that goes along with their description, I found these fascinating.

I had heard of a few of the creatures of but there were lots that I hadn’t and it was really interesting to find out about ones from different parts of the world. I think the mythical creatures from Asia were my particular favourite in terms of narrative, although some of my favourite illustrations were in the Europe section.

I quite liked that there were some elements of the tales that I know of outside of these stories. As an example there is a story about a raven who turns itself into a seed which is swallowed by a woman and becomes a baby, this is a concept that we have used in my family, just without the raven and the rest of its story. I don’t know where it came from but it was interesting to see it reflected in one of the tales and to think that a lot of sayings that we have in the present day have probably been passed down as stories or parables since the dawn of time but that we have moved away from its original myth.

This book is a spectacular collection of illustrations and myths and would look marvellous on any bookshelf.

Myths always contain weird, beautiful, magical creatures and this book compiles a list that is by no means exhaustive but fun to read.

All beings are sorted by the continent on which their tales are told. Of course, I knew all the European monsters, especially as the focus is on Greek/Roman and Norse stuff. I have to nitpick at the names that were chosen. We have pegasus but Heracles which makes no sense at all. I'm nitpicky, I know.

Apart from that, I learned a lot. Even when I heard about a creature, like the thunderbird, I learned a specific tale about this entity. Especially the South American beings were fun, like the pink were dolphin who comes out when there's a party going on at full moon in the neighborhood.

The illustrations look like coloured pencil and watercolour to me, are very detailed and fit nicely to the text. All in all, this book does what it set out to do very nicely and if you want to look at pretty pictures and learn more about mythical creatures, this one is for you.

This book is a beautifully illustrated middle grade collection of myths from around the world. The artwork is stunning from page to page and I imagine a physical copy would do them justice the best. I was familiar with a few of the myths, but most were new to me. I definitely would have loved this book as a kid and I throughly enjoyed reading the stories and looking at the illustrations. I think readers of all ages would enjoy this book especially if they have an interest in expanding their knowledge of myths. This book seems like a library must-have. I’d love to see a sequel or series of these lovely books!

This book is not only beautiful to look at but also incredibly fun to read! This artwork is so wonderful that it’s easy to picture the stories of each different creature in your mind. I’m not sure enjoyed the book more, myself or my niece! We’ve flipped through the book multiple times going over all our favorite art and stories. This is one of the most beautiful children's books I have seen in a long time! This book is crammed full of amazing mythological creatures with fabulously colourful and detailed illustrations and an abundance of information too.

I loved how the book was sectioned into parts of the world these mythological creatures originated from and how most of them had more than a page devoted to them.

Children will love reading this and will gaze upon the beautiful illustrations too.

Mythopedia is an incredibly illustrated and colourful guide to all things mythical creatures from all over the world.

As a huge fan of anything mythical, this was a great read for me. I loved that it didn't just focus on the most commonly known mythologies, but branched out to cultures I hadn't read anything about before. Though this is aimed at children, it's a wonderful and informative read for people of any age.

What makes this book stand out for me in particular is the care that has gone into illustrating it. It brings the creatures to life, and there are dozens of little details to be discovered in the background. It's absolutely stunning.

This is an amazing illustrated book about fascinating myths and legends some heard and unheard of, from around world. The illustrations and colors are gorgeous and would draw any reader in. Stories are short and accessible. I can’t wait to get a copy for myself to read it with my child! I however wouldn’t categorize it as a children’s non fiction because I personally think adults would enjoy it too.

I love myths and legends and was really excited to read this book.
First of all, it looks beautiful. I love the layout and the illustrations. The book begins with a contents page showing that the myths and legends have been split up into different regions around the world. This is really handy if you are looking for a myth or legend from a particular country. There is then a short introduction to what myths and legends are. This is followed by a beautiful map. The book then goes through the five regions one by one and describes the mythical creatures associated with each. Some of the creatures have a short story that follows their description. The illustrations that accompany the descriptions are just beautiful and would lend themselves very nicely to some artwork inspired by myths and legends.
There were some mythical creatures in here that I had heard of already, but plenty that I hadn’t. I found the information included about each creature really interesting and detailed. There was lots of new information to me in this book, and it certainly put a new spin on my childhood favourite, the rainbow fish!
This book would be brilliant to use as a prompt for myths and legend writing as well as art and DT work in most year groups.

Mythopedia's illustrations are utterly gorgeous, the bright colour palette used and the full page spreads are reason enough to give this book a read.

This book is GORGEOUS. I just need to take a moment to breathe before I write anymore because I'm still reeling from the beauty of this book.
The illustrations...are STUNNING! I don't always say that about books but this took my breath away.
I loved the actual book too. It was so informative and it was like stepping into another world.
I know this is children's non fiction but I am SERIOUSLY considering buying a physical copy when this is published because it is gorgeous!

I can go on and on about the things that are amazing about this book, but the list would be endless. It's categorized as children's nonfiction, but I feel that everyone of all ages can benefit a lot from reading this one. It features myths and legends from so many cultures from all over the world, and I learnt so many new things. I've been a lover of mythologies for as long as I can remember, and reading this made me realize how much of mainstream mythology is dominated by European (especially Greek) mythology.

The book featured such amazing, colorful, vibrant, and detailed illustrations. The pages were bursting with so much life and it was so easy to get lost in the book. With each short entry, there were amazing illustrations right on the same page so you could get a good pictorial rendering of that creature or story.

I loved that the book also had a general introduction to what myths and legends are, which is perfect for young readers or anyone who might be getting their first introduction to myths and legends through this book. Most entries of different creatures also had some short stories connected to them. Apart from talking about different myths, the entries also mentioned the culture/people who believe in the myth, or where the myth originated from.

I loved learning about new cultures, people, and myths through this book.

What a gorgeous books! I don't know how they made the illustrations of such grotesque beings as pretty as they did but wow! Amazing! I also loved that there were lots of beasts and stories that I had never heard of!

I love this book. It does everything that a teacher could want, bar plan the lesson for you. Well written and stunningly illustrated. A perfect model text for writing, wonderful for reading comprehension and inspiring for art & culture. I know that this would appeal to so many children for the history, geography, design, magical stories and the detailed tales. An absolute must for every classroom!

Mythopedia is a gorgeously illustrated guide into different mythological creatures and their legends from all over the world.

The book is broken up by a region or continent. Each mythical creature is accompanied by a gorgeous illustration of it along with a one page write up about it. Some creatures have further stories and legends explained over a few pages. Some of the beasts were ones I have grown up reading about and others were completely new to me. I think a pronunciation guide could be helpful.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves mythology and beasts. The illustrations make this book stand out above all others of its kind.

This is one of the most beautiful books I’ve seen, the artistry of the drawings is increasingly. I highly recommend this books for both adult and children alike who love mythology and want to learn more about mythical creatures from around the world. A must have book that would make the perfect gift.
