A very creepy, disturbing and compelling thriller.
In 2001, Nina was killed, Anna disappeared and Heidi was badly injured. 15 years later, Heidi's memory starts to return.
Although convoluted and confusing in parts, with so many characters, this was a good read overall.
This book was okay. I didn't find it very original but was a decent story. Couldn't take fully to the characters.
This really wasnt my usual kind of read and it also easnt for me. Well written and a good storyline but i couldnt connect with the characters. I tried to dnf but unfortunately for me it just wasnt keeping my interested so 3/4 through i did actually dnf.
That said i would recommend anyone to try. The beauty of books is every read doesnt suit every reader.
Not a bad read at all. Not the most original story but definitely written well and brings the conclusion round well. It could’ve gone a lot further but I like that it didn’t do a ‘… years/months later’.
A gripping and interesting thriller which gripped me from the start. Plenty of ot twists to hold your interest from beginning to end. Highly recommended read.
A book that I found was a slow burner but it was worth it, a great thriller book. Tense, gritty, raw.
Thank you to both NetGalley and the publishers for gifting me this book
This book was hard reading but a very quick and immersive read. A story that could have been taken from headlines this book has lots of trigger warnings.
I was gripped from chapter 1, the characters are believable and the pacing was intense. I would definitely read more from this author.
I just couldn't get into this one at all, perhaps it's because I listened to some of it on audio, but I didn't feel much of a connection with it. The subject matter is a tough one so definitely check trigger warnings before diving in.
Monstrous Souls. An absolutely gripping book from beginning to end. I enjoyed the way the story jumped back from then to now and wove the past and current stories together. Rebecca Kelly does a fantastic job of bringing the characters and storyline to life so I could visualise each scene as if I were watching a movie. Those would make a great movie!
Thank you to Netgalley, the author and publisher for giving me the opportunity to review this book.
A dark, gritty mystery set over two timelines and written from multiple viewpoints. I found the child abuse elements very disturbing but liked the authors writing style.
An absolutely addictive thriller which kept me guessing until the very end. I was utterly gripped throughout!
Heidi was brutally attached as a teenager 15 years ago and lost her memory. Now it is coming back as she remembers her fried bing killed and her sister disappearing.
This was a readable psychological thriller where you get to read the pieces of Heidi's past as she starts to get bits of her memory back. I quite enjoyed this book.
Just what you would expect from this great crime novel. It was brilliant and very well written. It was filled with mystery, twists and investigation that made yiu find out more.
Defo one I will read again.
An interesting read that I'm glad to have discovered. I'll definitely be seeking out more by this author.
I really enjoyed this book and would read more from this author. May have been first but won't he the last.
a gritty psychological thriller that keeps you gripped until the very end
would recommend if it’s your kind of book
Thank you to Netgalley for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Wow, what a fab book. Addictive, fast-paced, great characters great plot. I cannot recommend this book highly enough. Fab.
This was a very dark story, illustrating the cruelties adults can inflict on children. There are two strands to the story, past and present, which are cleverly interlinked. Unexpected conclusion.
"She gazes at the wood and wonders how many lost children there are and whether it will ever be possible to find them."
This book is utterly heart-rending and beautiful.
5*
Monstrous Souls by Rebecca Kelly was a fairly quick read for me. I like how the author tells the story in two different timelines. The story unfolds well through the recovering memories of Heidi who survived an attack fifteen years previously and only now begins to piece events together. So far, so good. However, the plot soon reveals sinister undertones and historic organised child abuse. I didn’t really enjoy the book after that point as I find such storylines too distressing.
Thanks to Netgalley and Agora Books for the opportunity to read the book.
