Young children will get a kick out of this farmhouse caper. Hen believes that her egg has been stolen and calls in the questionably complement goat detective to help with the case. Clues are uncovered along the way leading to what might be the obvious reason an egg is missing!
Fun and playful illustrations and a slightly silly story should make this book a lot of fun for read aloud to preschool and early elementary readers.
Thank you NetGalley and OwlKids for an advance copy of this title.
Right off the bat, Kid doesn’t like the pictures. This is always a bad sign. Why were only some of them clothed? How come they were all the same height? Kid was confused. Kid’s last question that baffled me as well: How come (mother) Hen doesn’t know that her egg was her chick? If a child thinks it doesn’t make sense, how can an adult explain such silliness as logic? Adult can’t.
I received an ARC from the author and publisher in exchange for an honest review.
Great graphic novel style book that is fun to read. My 9 year old and I took turns reading the different characters lines and really enjoyed this book. I could use some more.
I loved this book. It is funny and has great cartoonish illustrations. Young reader sleuths will observe as hen panics over her missing egg. What happened?
Hen and her friends, who are anthropomorphized, all react and have their ways of helping with the case. The group is not having success so they call in the goat detective. He has a few problems as he hilariously works to solve the case. Readers should chuckle over what ensues.
