K.L. Slater does not disappoint! Little Whispers is a a slow burn rather than a wild ride. Janie’s husband, Isaac, lands a lucrative new job, and they move to a posh neighborhood in Nottingham. A great school for Rowan, a group of Uber friendly school moms, what can go wrong? Rich, flawed characters drive this thriller. Grab a copy, this is not to be missed!

I absolutely love K.L. Slater! She's one of my favorite writers since I read 'Blink.'
I've read almost all of her books, but none of them quite lived up to 'Blink' until now!
'Little Whispers' is a perfect blend of domestic noir and psychological thriller. Ms. Slater, you are the master of misdirection! I was all over the place trying to figure out what was going. The characters were so interesting (and suspect) and the twists just kept coming! When all was finally revealed, I just sat speechless, mouth agape and wishing this beautiful reading experience hadn't ended.
'Little Whispers' has (miraculously) dethroned 'Blink' as my favorite K.L. Slater book.

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
And thank you Ms. Slater for another fantastic reading experience.

Thank you for the gifted copy of this book. Being new to this forum, this is only my second review given and I'm really excited to be a part of this reading community. Little Whispers by K.L. Slater was the first book I've read by this author and she did not disappoint my mystery/thriller reading self! I am a sucker for a twisty ending and she laid it on. A lot of back story was given during the course of the book so at times it seemed to drag just a bit, but it was needed in order to set up the ending and I did not see it coming. A quick read for me with great characters.

I started it one afternoon and needless to say didn't stop reading till I was done. I was hooked from the first page. This is such a good thriller.

Another fantastically addictive read by K L Slater, who is fast becoming one of my favourite authors. This story has more of a domestic noir feel to it, but is still packed with mystery and intrigue. I honestly had no idea of what the 'secret' was until the reveal. It's certainly not a storyline that could be called predictable. Lots of shallow, greedy characters that made the plot so addictive.

Absolutely brilliant, could not put it down. It’s a fantastic mystery book based on the lives of a couple who have moved to an upmarket area from a working class background. It’s well written with an endearing main character/ read it you won’t be disappointed!! 5 stars 🌟

K.L. Slater has become a reputable writer, one you go to again and again for solid writing. I found Little Whispers to be entertaining and a page-turner. This kind of reminded me of Big Little Lies, with a few differences. Definitely the neighborhood-style mystery, the haves and have nots and shady business dealings. The resolution and ending seemed to drone on and one however but overall a good book.

Firstly I want to say huge thanks to NetGalley for allowing me to read and review this title. Having read K L Slater before and heard good things about this book I was thrilled to receive a copy!

Sadly, I found this book a little lack lustre for my liking. Whilst as easy and engaging read it was however very slow, extremely repetitive and the twists weren’t enough for me to warrant it further stars.

Throughout the book we’re thrown head on into suspicion, deception and a tangle of lies which runs alongside Janey’s secret past. Whilst the characters are well created and there is plenty of plot for the author to play with my ‘imagined’ ending/twists were sadly more creative than the reality. Which in my opinion was a lot more predictable and structured.

At times I felt the book was a lot like Liane Moriarty’s ‘Big Little Lies’ as it featured these ultra glamorous, stay at home mums who dress in designer gear, drink coffee and are into everyone’s business. Lies, secrets and past coming to catch up with them etc

I couldn’t help wanting to just give Janey a shake and make her be more demanding in her questioning and stand up for herself more. I think her husband is let off far too easily.

As always, one book is never a true representation of style or talent and one person’s opinion will differ greatly from others. What didn’t appeal to me might to others and I’m certainly looking forward to reading more from K L Slater.

This book is very addictive, so make sure you have plenty of time when you decide to settle down with it, because once you start you are going to want to finish it as soon as possible. Forewarned is fore armed. ;)

When you move, you always feel a bit lost in the beginning. Everything that you knew you well, you had to leave behind and being accepted in the new community is very important.

Making new friends often also means opening up to them, but never about that horrible secret you are hiding! Maybe you should have declined that last glass of fizz...

Who is genuine and who could easily be nominated for actor or actress of the year?

Amazing author. Brilliant story. 5 stars

Thank you, K.L. Slater and Bookouture

When Janey’s Mum tells her a life changing secret on her deathbed, Janey needs time to come to terms with the devastation. When her husband, Isaac, announces he has a new job earning an excellent income, it’s not long before they find the house of their dreams. Isaac, Janey and their son, Rowan move onto Buckingham Crescent in Nottingham.

Janey feels she won’t settle in, especially when she takes Rowan to school and the Mums are all in their little groups. After a while, she is accepted into a group with Tanya, Edie and Ky and she starts to enjoy the lifestyle they all keep on Buckingham Crescent. Before long and after a few drinks too many, Janey tells her new friend Tanya her secret.

This is an entertaining story that was hard to put down. The secrets and lies throughout the book were plentiful. It’s not long before you get sucked in to the lives of the characters and it’s hard to know who is real and who is fake. This is an author who never lets me down with her books and I look forward to reading more from her.

My thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this ARC.

I've been a fan of K.L. Slater all throughout her writing career, and I'm thrilled to say this thriller does not disappoint!

The story is about Janey, who moves to a new town for her husband's new IT job, along with their son. At first, the local mothers at school drop off are cold to Janey. They're prissy and come from money, and her family is blue collar. Eventually, the women warm up and invite Janey into their friendship circle, but a series of unfortunate events change everything when Janey drunkenly tells one of the mothers something about her past...something she should have never revealed.

The suspense builds at a quick pace in this story, with plenty of dark twists. I was hooked from beginning to end, and would highly recommend to fans of domestic thrillers.

Thank you to Bookouture, author K.L. Slater, and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

4 solid stars!

Yooooooo...I am shocked at how much I enjoyed this book. I literally read it in one day.

Because this book got under my skin.

I read this during the Coronavirus pandemic so there's not a whole lot I could do other than read. BUT, I found that when I took a break to go to a quick workout on my porch, I couldn't stop thinking about this book, and couldn't wait to get back to it.

I was shocked.

So I did a quick workout, then hopped back on the couch to keep reading. Then dinnertime came and I had to take a resentful break to make dinner, then went right back to reading. I couldn't stop thinking about this book until I finished it.

And I was not disappointed with the ending. Which I find is often the case with psychological thrillers.

No folks, this ending was a good one.

This is a story about a family, going through some tough times: money issues, debt, marriage problems and a recent family death. The main character's (the wife) mother passes away, leaving her the burden of this awful, family secret right before she dies. In the midst of all of this, the husband gets offered this amazing job with a huge pay-raise and they move to a posh part of town in hopes that this will be the new beginning they desperately need.

Wifey befriends some of the wives on the block and husband is upset about it, but he's always working so she needs the companionship. Things are not as they appear, and you spend the entire book trying to figure out what is happening.

It's really good.

It gave my A Simple Favor vibes, except I hated that book and this was soooooOOOoooOOOoo much better.

This book was so perfect and exactly what I needed: to totally escape the Coronavirus panic and get lost in a book.

Highly recommend!

A big thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for the ARC and wanting my honest opinion!

Needless to say this author has outdone herself again. She is one of my favorites and there is definitely a reason why. I just can’t get enough of her and her books. I must read them all.

This book was about a woman who had a dark upbringing that if it got out could ruin her and her family. Janey moved into a posh neighborhood where secrets don’t stay secrets for long. Everyone has an agenda and will use your deep dark past against you for their gain. Don’t trust anyone especially the ones closest to you.

I have to say that I read most of K.L. Slater books and loved them all. This one was no exception. It had everything you want. A secret past, a child in danger, a husband who can’t be trusted and a banging great twist of an ending. This whole book worked so well for me. The characters were great, the plot was awesome and it had a roller coaster ride and an ending. I just loved every part of this book and couldn’t get enough. I stayed up all night to finish the book and boy was it worth the lack of sleep the next day. My only wish is that this author keeps these great books coming in the future.

Between the plot, characters and all the twists in this book it made it an easy and fast read. I would definitely recommend it and happily give it 5 Hearts❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

I loved it. Absolutely LOVED it. I was gripped from page 1 and that grip never slackened throughout the whole of the book.. Janey, the main character, becomes involved with a new set of friends having moved to an upmarket neighbourhood with her husband, Isaac and 8 year old son Rowan. Right from the off I had reservations about the integrity of these friends. Each one seemed to be a little bit suspect to me and I was almost shouting out to Janey not to trust them, not to believe all she thought to be true. Even Janey's slightly eccentric neighbour and who wasn't part of the group of friends seemed to have her own secrets. Was she just a good neighbour trying to warn Janey or a meddling person intent on spoiling things for her? There were so many questions, doubts and concerns about all of these people and then, added to that, Janey's husband was also acting very oddly. He had his own huge secret that, despite her questions to him, he would not reveal. It was all edge of the seat stuff and, like all of K. L. Slater's books, this was a fast read with a satisfying and surprising conclusion. I can't wait for her next book. My thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

ARG ! i was so disappointed with the finale of the book. It had a great lead up and when it was wrapping up it let me down SO hard. Oh so hard. I read the whole book in a day but when it got really good it just ... there are not words to explain it. The story in-between would have been a better book. I am sorry for the honesty but that is how i feel.

Thank you NetGalley and publisher for ARC.

LOVED LOVED LOVED This book! It reminded me of desperate house wives. Very intriguing, , dramatic and malicious. It had the right amount of all of it! This is a must read!

That was a wild ride! This is my first KL Slater novel, so I honestly didn’t know what to expect. Would the writing be intriguing? Would I like the characters and setting? Was the dialogue good? Luckily, this book was totally up my alley and I read it as often as my scheduled allowed! The opening drew me in completely. Big secret? Posh neighborhood? Housewife drama? Okay yes, count me in! This book had so many twists and turns, unlikeable characters, and D-R-A-M-A.
My only reason for giving this 4 instead of 5 stars is that although I was super into the story, for the first third or so of the book there were several plot lines happening at once and I wasn’t entirely sure for which one the book was truly centered on. But do not let that keep you from reading this book! I never had a moment of boredom, and I read the second half of the book in one day - I could not stop. Definitely recommend this one for fans of thrillers! I’ll look forward to reading more from this author.

K.L. Slater's latest novel is a mix of domestic drama and thriller with no one quite being who they seem and secrets being kept with far reaching consequences.

When Janey's husband starts a new job the family move into a bigger house in a smarter neighbourhood in a new town. Dropping her son at his new school, Janey meets some of her neighbours, well dressed women who she feels are out of her class, but seem eager to befriend her. While she is settling in to her new house, social life and a new job, she is concerned that something is wrong with her husband Isaac who is working longer and longer hours and is stressed and worried. She's also still getting over the death of her mother a few months ago and the terrible secret her mother told her just before she died.

This novel is slowly addictive as you want to find out if Janey's neighbours are really all they seem to be, what Isaac is hiding from her and what terrible secret her mother kept until she was dying. The plot moves along at a good pace and the stunning climax clicked all the pieces very believably into place.

Note to author/editor: I think there might be an error in the date of the newspaper article given as 'The Post, 22 December 2002' (loc 4437, 92%). Susan Marsh's age is given as 18 at the time of her abduction but when Janey meets her she is 47. Janey also states her own age as 8 at the time of Susan's abduction which would make her around 26 (in 2020). Since Janey has an 8 year old son she would have been 18 or younger when he was born but her backstory of college, working and being married for a couple of years before having Rowan suggests she was older.

I adore Slater's books! This one was like if the Mean Girls grew up to be The Real Housewives of Anywhere and piled on more secrets, lies, deceit, betrayal, jealousy, and blackmail. Enough said. Janey and husband Isaac move with son Rowan to an upscale part of town after Isaac is offered an amazing opportunity with a new company which means a healthy income and a nice house. But Janey encounters problems as she attempts to befriend the other mothers in her neighborhood as they appear to be much more fashion-conscious and upscale than she is. Soon she finds her niche and things appear to be going well, but a huge secret from Janey's past--a deathbed confession from her mother--haunts her; and of course, we the readers are desperate to know how this fits in. All is finally revealed and the pieces fall into place leaving us with a satisfying end. On to more of Slater's novels!
