Galligan has done it again with DEAD MAN DANCING. First off, I love the character of Sheriff Heidi Kick. She's tough, compassionate, and deeply committed to her role as protector of the people of Bad Axe County. The supporting characters are fantastically drawn as well. There's Denise, back at the office, always ready with a wisecrack to settle the tension Kick endures as a female in a male-dominated position. Then there's Kick's family, most particularly Opie, the Sheriff's daughter, who is prominently featured in a side storyline. The premise is interesting as well, particularly in these divided times. A nasty swirl of white supremacy is making its way into the fiber of Bad Axe, and the poison of it will leave the county forever changed. The question is: Can Sheriff Kick stop this swirl in its tracks before it destroys everything? Kick is a badass, so just guess at the answer.
