SO cute and super funny! I absolutely fell in love with these characters and wanted to stay in their bubble forever
I tried really hard to get into this one but had to DNF, it just wasn't for me and I couldn't connect with the characters and really struggled to get through.
I am sure it will be well loved by others though.
I love the cover, it looks great!
I feel like Daniel was trying too hard and it was a turn off, became awkward and wierd.
But it was sort of cute, i liked Winnie. But it wasn`t amazing or blowing me away.
This is the first book in Fiona West’s new Timber Falls series. If you like small town shenanigans and wholesome characters this is for you! Could Be Something Good made me feel all warm and fuzzy. Timber Falls is such a charming little town, and the characters and world building are really great! The story is fast paced, which I loved, and there was very little language, which I always appreciate! I also appreciated the fact that the romance was clean. I’m now completely invested in this series.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book!
If you are a lover of romance, especially where it’s older woman with a younger male, this is for you!! Don’t want to spoil it but you definitely want to read this!

I don't usually go for older heroines and younger heroes but this one is well-paced it felt as though I was breezing through the book and overall such a cute story with amazing set of characters.
I really loved this cover - that's what initially drew me in. I think it's great that this romance started with a brush-off and turned into something more.
Tried my best to get into this one but had to DNF it. I thought the premise of this one would be cute, and sort of like Grey’s Anatomy but it did not deliver. The characters were cute to begin with but ended up getting a bit annoying later on. But just because this one didn’t vibe with me doesn’t mean it’s a bad book - I’m sure many people will love this one with its small town charm and hospital romance setting.
3.5 Stars
Cute quick read. Persistent doctor with strong morals and a chivalrous nature continuously asks out the new midwife in town until she breaks down and accepts his offer...not because she can't wait to date him, but because she needs someone to shove in her exes face. She struggles with their age gap (roughly 10 years, he is in his 20s and she is 34), outside sources seem to have a huge impact on her decision making process for basically everything in her life but particularly whether or not she will date the Other Dr. Durand. He is a little too perfect, she is a little to jaded, but together they work quite well.
I loved this one. Can you tell I love romance yet. I loved the chemistry and banter between the two main characters. There is a age gap but that didn't matter. I loved the way that Daniel was always trying to get Winnie to got out with him and Winnie is a badass midwife which her mother (who is Daniels boss) disapproves of her career choice. I loved the way that grief is dealt with especially with Winnie's mom. The way that everyone deals with grief in a different way.
Sweet, easy, heart-warming read. I really enjoyed all the doctor talk that I didn’t quite understand but was hella cool, and I loved the relationship between Daniel and his family, especially Kyle. Good first instillation, I’m looking forward to the next!
True confession: I read this entire book a couple of months ago, and didn't get to writing a review because Covid, and kids, and work, etc etc etc. Now, I'm reading reviews and the plot and I have no memory whatsoever of it. I'm sure I enjoyed it because I finished it. But it didn't leave a lasting impression.
I really felt like Could Be Something Good could have been really good, but it ended up just ok. I did like both of the main characters but I felt like the spark between was missing.
Oof. I did not finish this.
"Really, once Christmas was over, what was the point of winter?" Winter starts literally 4 days before Christmas.
"... waved to Starla through the window; she was the friendly librarian who’d struck up a conversation when she’d gone in to see if there was a local newspaper that might be advertising apartments for rent. Starla waved back shyly."
OMG. This sentence.
"She’d gotten directions from Ainsley."
Why does she need directions if she's lived there forever? There's dust under her childhood bed, which is just as close to the hospital as her new apartment?
"It was the perfect place to enjoy a chai latte."
Uh, do most small town coffee shops have chai lattes?
A fantastic enemies to lover read (gave me Hating Game vibes and I bloody love that book)
Could Be Something Good has everything. Funny, laugh out loud moments. An interesting plot. Relatable, funny and addictive characters. Chemistry!! Just the whole package!
‘Un-put-downable’ as I like to say!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for giving me a copy to review. All thoughts and opinions are my own

This had all the things I love about romance, small town, older woman, and a younger man and hospital romance.
This book had such fun banter and tension between Winnie and Daniel, the chemistry was palpable. I really enjoyed that Winnie was taking no BS from Daniel and brushed him off as a flirt at first. I also really enjoyed the familial relationships and friendships that were in the book (Kyle and Ainsley, their story is one I am really excited for). Daniel is such a sweet cinnamon roll hero, and I loved his dorky superhero refrences, Winnie, I was slightly annoyed by her becuase of some of her actions and choices but then again she was under a lot of stress so I don't completly fault her for that. Winnie's ex was probbaly the biggest problem in this, I hated him, he was annoying and cringey and I was glad he got his comeuppance, slightly.
I loved the cover design, the cartoon cover's for romances are slowly becoming my favorite. West wrote great friendships, a fun flirty romance and I cannot wait to see more work from her, specifically Kyle and Ainsley.
Thank you netgalley for allowing me to read this early. I have never read anything by this author so i was excited when I was granted access. I totally judged the book by this cover and didnt even read the synopsis before requesting it and Im so happy it worked out in my favor! This was a fun story that Ive been recommending to a lot of people i know!
I read this arc ages ago but stopped because I KNEW I NEEDED THE PHYSICAL BOOK!
Have you seen the cover???? YES JUDGE THE BOOK BY THE COVER AND GET IT OMG!

side note: my copy is so annotated i can’t even flip through the book freely lol

<p>"It was love at first brush-off...</p>

<p>Dr. Daniel Durand wanted Winnie Baker the minute he laid eyes on her. Never mind that she's his attending physician's daughter, can't stand him, and she's a few years older than him. Giving up would've been the smart thing to do when the hot blonde midwife gave him the cold shoulder at the elevators his first week of residency at Santiam, but he never did give up easy. After bonding over early-morning Mexican food, can he convince her that he's just the arm candy she needs for that wedding...and get her to consider one of their own?</p>
<!-- /wp:paragraph -->
<!-- wp:paragraph -->
<p>Winnie Baker isn’t taking her cousin to another wedding. Her mentor's big day is far too important to miss. And she's not going by herself, not with her ex-boyfriend promising to be in attendance and blowing up her phone with texts on a weekly basis, asking for another chance. But the pickings are a bit slim in Timber Falls, a sleepy Oregon town in the foothills of the Cascades. She moved here to focus on building her midwifery practice, not get involved with cute millennial boys with trendy shoes and long eyelashes. And yet, even this small rural hospital is feeling a bit crowded, with her mother and her group of doctors-in-training constantly underfoot...especially since she was supposed to be one of those doctors.</p>

<p>Could Be Something Good is the first book in the Timber Falls romantic comedy series. It contains mild cursing, a make-out scene involving melted butter and stolen moments in medical supply closets, but no open door sex scenes. If you like ridiculous bets, meddling relatives, and reverse dates, grab this book now."</p>

<p>Okay, this one. Stick a fork in me, I’m done. I might be biased because I live in Oregon and small towns are my jam, but Timber Falls is the place I want to call home. Most of my family works in healthcare, so this love story set in a small town hospital hit all the right notes to knock me into love with it.</p>

<p>I honestly am usually too shy to reach out to authors after finishing their books, but I <em>immediately</em> sent Fiona West an email asking about the hospital. It reminded me so much of the little hospital I grew up in (my mom is a respiratory therapist and often took us to work to play in the rehab gym on the weekends). It turns out I am a dinglehopper who forgot this is a real hospital that exists, but Fiona was very sweet and kind – and got herself added to my “auto buy” list!</p>

<p>Winnie is a midwife trying to build her practice who has the added benefit of having a strongwilled mother…who happens to be a physician in the same hospital. It’s a case of “Mother knows best…..except Mother doesn’t know her child”. I felt this in my <em>soul</em> (sorry, Mom, if you're reading, but we've discussed this...)</p>

<p>I personally have worked in healthcare almost my entire career (minus one ill-fated year in finance) and these interactions make my little heart soar. I adore every single human in this book, even Winnie's mother, and I WANT TO LIVE IN TIMBER FALLS NOW, OKAY THANK YOU.</p>

<p>I might have squealed out loud when I found out who the next books were about.....because I want to demand every single person's story (Fiona, I'm sorry, I am needy!)</p>

<!-- wp:paragraph -->
<p>Daniel, Daniel, Daniel..... ah, Daniel. You share my heart with your brother (I'm sorry but Kyle will always be my favorite Dr. Durand forever and ever and always. I mean, HE'S KYLE.) Daniel is a heartthrob with a heart of gold, and I love how determined he is without crossing the line into creep. I also truly appreciate how involved he gets with his patients (not romantically, get your minds out of the gutter, he's just a fantastic physician!!) and I want to give this book to every single MD I encounter so they can learn from his bedside manner. </p>

<p>Fiona West, I want to live in your novels. You bring small town Oregon to life and I cannot WAIT to devour the rest of the series!</p>
