Young Dr. Daniel Durand was currently doing his residency at Timber Falls Hospital when he saw Winnie Baker for first time, and from that moment he knew that there was something special about her. Too bad Winnie didn't seem to think the same...

Daniel is a young doctor of 24 years doing his residency in the hospital of his small hometown. With an easy going personality, charm and a meddle family her life is the complete opposite of Winnie. She's in her 30s and recently moved to Timber Falls. A straightforward, no-nonsense and kinda grumpy midwife a little unsure about starting a relationship with someone younger. Add to that that Daniel is under the orders of Winnie's mother, a whole town meddling in their relationship and rooting for them because of a bet, lots of banter, pop culture references and cheesy medical metaphors and you have a cute and easy to read rom-com!

I think my favorite part of this book was the use of common tropes, such as the age gap and the grumpy-sunshine dynamic, but reversed. It gave something fresh and new to these kinds of stories. Also, the romance was pretty cute. At some point it is mentioned that Daniel has a certain reputation, but from the moment he looks at Winnie he's 100% devoted to her, and little by little you can see how the relationship is growing, going from an attraction to something else. AND THAT EPILOGUE! Seriously, that kind of content is all I ask for at the end of a book.

Now why not 5 stars. Because from the first chapter two characters were introduced that caught my attention, Kyle and Ainsley, and from what I saw they're gonna serve one of my favorite tropes, so yeah, I'm excited about that and it took my focus off the main couple a bit. And also the fact that her mentor's wedding seemed to be an important thing but it didn't take more than one chapter, although it did help the relationship, so that threw me off a little.

Overall, I enjoyed this book and can't wait for the next one in this series! It was a light, cute and fun contemporary romance.

Dr. Daniel Durand was currently doing his residency in Timber Falls Hospital. He came from a family of doctors and he was the third one to finish. His father was the first Durand, then his younger brother Kyle, then him. Their older brother Philip was also into the medical field but he was a Physical Therapist.

Daniel met Winnie at their “first brush off” and he immediately liked her. Winnie Baker is the daughter of Daniel’s attending physician—the physician he didn’t really see eye to eye. Their story started because of a wedding that Winnie had to go through with a date and things spiraled from there.

I love this book. It was such a fun read because of the banters, the references, and the medical metaphors that were used between the two main characters. I love how it wasn’t dragging and that every chapter something significant to the story happens. It was a fast read for me because the story got me really hooked and i just wanted to keep reading and finish it immediately.

Highly recommended for readers who are into romance, banters, small-town romance, and family love. Also, i was lucky enough to read the epilogue that the author sent and it was the perfect ending for this book! I’m looking forward to Kyle and Ainsley’s story (book 2)! 🤎

I went into this book with such high hopes - from the description this sounded like the perfect workplace romance, but sadly this fell way short for me. The characters didn't have a ton of depth and their romance felt extremely rushed and disingenuous. Many of the major plot points brought up in the book description were barely elaborated upon - for example, her mentor's big wedding!

I did love the minor characters that made up Daniel's family, but some of the plot lines with Winnie's mom felt way too extreme.

Overall, this one left much more to be desired.

Wow! I really loved this book, I was instantly attracted to it due to the age difference in the lover. Especially with the woman being older, that never happens in any book I have ever read. Despite it being something that isn't often seen, it was very easy to read through and not at all cringey. I really enjoyed the ups and downs of a relationship of different ages and how they constantly showed that women can be older and still beautiful. This book was everything I didn't know I needed.

Daniel is intrigued by Winnie the first time he sees her. Winnie isn't interested at first. She has a bad break up behind her and her mothers stupid expectations constantly upon her. Additionally, Daniel is a little younger than she is. It could not end up in anything good, right?

Things I liked
Once again, Fiona West does it. This is a light, joyful read even though it deals with some everyday issues, for example how dyslexia is treated in life. The characters are complex and interesting. They all have their own issues, but they also come through strongly and happier.

Conclusion
There is nothing I did not like in this book. It is a great, quick and joyful read and I can't wait to travel back to Timber Falls and read the next story in the series.

I really liked this novel, it's different from what I usually read.
Here, it's the female character who is older than the male character.
I loved that Winnie rebelled and chose her own path.
A lot of the scenes are cute, especially when Winnie's ex intervenes and Daniel marks his territory.
The pop culture references in the novel are just great.
There's a very nice dynamic throughout the novel. It's well paced; there are no big twists and turns, but the actions in the novel are not bad.
If you're French-speaking like me, there's no particular difficulty when you read it. The vocabulary is not too complicated and the writing is fluid.
The end of the novel is very beautiful, and the author promises us a new romance, but this time with Daniel's brother and Winnie's roommate.

J'ai beaucoup aimé ce roman, c'est différent de ce que je peux lire d'habitude.
Ici, c'est le personnage féminin qui est plus âgée que le personnage masculin.
J'ai adoré que Winnie se rebelle et choisisse sa port voie.
Beaucoup de scènes sont mignonnes notamment quand l'ex de Winnie intervient et que Daniel marque son territoire.
Les références sur la pop culture dans le roman, sont juste géniales.
Il y a une très belle dynamique tout au long du roman. C'est bien rythmé ; il n'y a pas de gros rebondissements, mais les actions présentes dans le roman ne sont pas mal.
Si vous être francophone comme moi, il n'y a pas de difficulté particulière lors de la lecture. Le vocabulaire n'est pas trop compliqué et l'écriture est fluide.
La fin du roman est très belle, et l'auteur nous promet une nouvelle romance, mais cette fois-ci, entre le frère de Daniel et la colocataire de Winnie.

Unfortunately , I couldn't finish this book .
I didn't care about the characters and the plot was so weak .
I was bored from the first pages .

Fiona West is a new author to me. I found this to be sweet, romantic story about Dr. Daniel Durand and the woman he falls for on first sight Winnie Baker. Set in Timber Falls Oregon, I enjoy stories set in small towns and it was a quick read.
Winnie is older than Daniel and at times came across a lot older than she really was, which was at times a tad frustrating. However there was some humorous moments as meddling relatives got involved and I found myself smiling.
This is a story about being comfortable in your own skin and above all being accepted for the choices one makes. The chemistry between Daniel and Winnie was definitely there and I liked the support that Daniel offered to Winnie.

I really enjoyed this book. The writing style was easy to follow along with and the characters were interesting. This was a quick read for me, I loved watching Daniel try to get the girl. Winnie was a very strong heroine who was a tough cookie to crack. I do feel like the beginning of the story was a bit too slow for me but towards the middle the story it definitely picked up it's pace. Daniel and Winnie were so cute together, it was really refreshing to read about the heroine being older than the hero. I feel like most romance books don't have that trope so it was really interesting to read about. I liked watching the main characters interact with their family. Winnie’s relationship with her grandfather was adorable. I liked how the characters bonded over superheroes, I thought that was really sweet. I also liked that Daniel was dyslexia because it was nice to see the disability representation. I wish that we had gotten more depth on the characters, I feel like we barely got to know them which hindered my enjoyment of the book. I also didn't like that Winnie’s mother was so controlling and that the town seemed so invested in Daniel and Winnies Love life. Although her mother’s character does improve in the end I feel like that character development was too fast and it was a little bit unbelievable. Overall, I enjoyed this book and I can't wait for the next book in this series. I would definitely recommend this to someone who is looking for a light funny contemporary romance.

I love this books cover it reminds me of the pop art style. I loved reading this book it an love at first sight with an age gap and the dyslexia which I love seeing in books as a dyslexic person myself and I’ve sadly only read one other series with someone with dyslexia which is ya it good to see some representation in the adult genre.

Could Be Something Good...could be something good! I really liked this book, but it wasn't a home run for me. I think because in the first chapter, the set up for Kyle and Ainsley's story was so POTENT, that I almost immediately lost interest in Daniel and Winnie's story. I can't wait for that one to come out because the longing on page is just...A+ level pining and I am a sucker for unrequited love stories.

That said, I liked the older woman/younger man angle used here because it set our handsome doctor back on his heels quite a few times when Winnie asserted herself. What didn't work for me was the "sex bet" plot device being initiated by Winnie's MOM, who is a physician at the hospital where Daniel and Winnie work. I would be absolutely mortified if my mother implied that my love interest was only in it for the nookie and that our relationship wouldn't last 2 months without sex.

I'm also completely petty and would have boned him immediately to prove a point, so there's that as well.

There was a lot of emphasis placed on the approval of Winnie's mother of the relationship, of Winnie's career (apparently being a midwife wasn't good enough), and for such a strong heroine, the fact that she couldn't seem to stand up to her mother fell a little flat for me. I mean, there is something about being around your parents that makes you regress to your most awkward and vulnerable teenage self, but at thirty, I feel like most people wouldn't resort to active self-sabotage to avoid having a medium on the scale of difficulty conversation.

That said, Fiona West has created a world in which I would like to delve deeper, so for a entry point into a new series, overall...could be something good! (Sorry -- couldn't resist!)

I loved how adorably sweet Dr. Daniel Durand was trying to win over nurse/midwife Winifred’s heart (and her mother’s approval!), the close family love, and would definitely read a sequel if Fiona West wants to write one about Daniels brother Kyle! 😉

This story is about Winnie, a nurse/midwife in her 30's, and Daniel, a med student-soon-to-be-Doctor. There is a lot of pinning in this book and it is insta-lovey from Daniel's side.

While it is not a bad story, I found that I didn't care for Winnie and Daniel, much. I was more interested in the side characters and am looking forward to Kyle and Ainsley's book. I'm guessing that since it is the first book in a series, that is why there was a lot of attention on the main side characters.

I did like that there was Dyslexia (Daniel) and Autism (Kyle) rep but I do wish that had been explored a little bit more. At least on Daniel's side since this is his book. I'm hoping that there will be more in book 2.

The main reason I gave it a rating of 3.5 is because I didn't like the writing style and I spent most of the book trying not to let my frustrations cloud my judgment of the book. Obviously, that didn't work out. This is my first book from Fiona West so maybe I just have to get used to her writing and that's why I will be giving book 2 a chance. But other than that I don't think I will go out of my way to look into her other books and giving them a try.

There were quite a bit of superhero references (and it literally took me most of the book to realize there is a little Thor on the cover) and I didn't mind them at all. I'm not the biggest fan of the overuse of pop culture in books but I am a HUGE superhero fan --I mean, I do have over 300 superhero movies-- but if that does annoy you, I would proceed with caution.

This story, genuinely, has so much potential. But for some reason the characters didn't do it for me. The development of the story seemed out of whack a little bit, it's like it ended where the book should've been half way through at most.

I really did like the portrayal of dyslexic and autistic characters. It wasn't a major part of the story, but it was important enough. Just wish it was developed more. Wish the characters themselves had been developed more and better. Everything seemed so rushed and it makes me sad.

But all in all, I'm intrigued enough to read the rest of the series as it did go really quickly and I liked the style of writing, mostly. It was light-hearted and easy.

I really enjoyed reading this book! I loved the plot and the characters; Winnie is the perfect female character. You can’t help but cheer her on, especially after she tells her mother that medical school just isn’t for her. Would highly recommend

I read quite a bit of clean romance as well as ... not clean romance, but one thing that always bothers me about clean romances is that the author makes sure to talk about it being a clean romance ... too much. This one also focused on the secondary characters too much for the series building for my taste. It was cute, but not my favorite.

I'm giving it a solid 3 stars!

3.5 I like the book, it was a very light read with a quick and cute romance, from one them. I also like that it just a different novel. It's an age gap, but the older one is Winnie, who is a nurse-midwife that is working in the same hospital as Daniel, an intern. I love Daniel. He is the perfect book boyfriend. They have much chemistry and love the same type of reading that I love that. I would recommend you just go and read it without any spoiler, you will enjoy it more. I will continue with the series.

If you're looking for a light, enjoyable read, this is your book! It was the perfect balance of romance with just a touch of nerdy, geeky cuteness thrown in. Family expectations and the small town life are pretty accurately depicted here and the main characters are both relatable and sweet.

Can't wait for the next book in the series!

This was a cute and easy read. It begins with slow pace, witch I really liked. I liked how the development of their relationship was presented.

But I have a problem with the ending. I have a feeling that the essential eight weeks of their relationship is shown on about 20 pages. And somehow I was left with only the question What ?!

I also had a problem with how many times was mentioned that she is older than him and how he is a millennial, and wait she isn't ?!
If she is 31 years old doesn't she belong to that same age group ...

But honestly, it was a very easy sweet read.

There are a lot of medical jargons, which I, as a huge fan of the Medical TV shows really, really liked.

What thrilled me in this book and why I would read it again is the love that is shown for the comics and movies about superheros.

What a cute and quirky story about finding and fighting for love, standing up to your parents for your dreams and how annoying big brothers can really be. I always love reading about small towns such as this and the nosy inhabitants that meddle in their citizens' everyday lives.when there is a second book available i will be reading that one too.
