Love this series - I've been reading it from the beginning and actually did a youtube videos on the first in the series b/c I liked it so much: https://youtu.be/jxEKUFyE7tA and https://youtu.be/QEYnAqXMUvA

This book was just as amazing as the rest of the series and can't wait to read more - please don't cancel this series. It's one of my favorites.

I like this and Denise Swanson's Scumble River and Dime Store series. I just wish there was a bit more diversity between them. Plus size heroine, small Illinois town, two potential love interests (though this series is doing its best to say that's not the case), former love interests of the male characters popping up, the love interest(s) being in law enforcement. granted that one make sit easy for bodies to pop up and for the main character to take an active role. The author even has some tie ins between the series.

Despite wanting more diversity than the jobs the main characters have, I did enjoy this story. It was different from the rest and we got to experience Spencer's job which we haven't in the other series as I recall. I also like Dani's emotional maturity. there is potential for her to get upset with people to cause tension, but she acts like a 30 year old. The story also keeps you guessing whodunnit despite the limited pool of new characters.

So, a solid like from me.

I received my copy from Netgalley in exchange for my honest review.

Chef to go has taken on the biggest job to date, catering an engagement party for 400. When the client turns out to be Spencer’s ex wife, Dani still moves forward with the job as the professional she is and is helped by both Gray and Spencer at the event. The party ends in disaster when a storm rips through the town and brings the tent down on the partygoers and the bride to be is found dead under the tent.

Yvette’s death is soon declared a murder and Dani and Spencer land on the suspect list. Together they begin looking into who would have wanted the manipulative woman dead, and there is no short list. Then Spencer sees his old friend who his ex wife took up with when she left him, and he suspects the man might be out for revenge, so another suspect is added to the list. But time is ticking and if Dani and Spencer are going to figure it out, they’re going to have to work with the police at some point or they could be next.

A fun series that has compassion and kindness. I’m cheering for Dani and Spencer as they begin their relationship and solve a few mysteries along the way. I wish there was more kindness and compassion in the world and writing about it is a way to help others find ways to add their own goodness to the world. Looking forward to the next entry in this series.
