A combination romance and mystery with lots of family drama and rodeo mixed into the story. This helped me to have a better understanding of the treatment of rodeo animals. I was not a fan and still worry about their welfare, but this tale lessened my concerns. The characters kept me engaged and turning the pages. I look forward to reading about the adventures of the other two Champion sisters.

WHIRLWIND is the first book in the Champions series following the lives of the Champion sisters as they try to save the family ranch. Janet Dailey gives the reader a behind the scenes look at what the life on the Professional Bull Riding circuit is like. She captures the danger of a bull rider. A suspenseful story keeps you on the edge of your seat trying to figure out who is behind the sabotage at the ranch. A more than 8 second thrill ride that will keep you captivated. Which sister is next and who will be the man in her life. I can’t wait to find out. WHIRLWIND a must read.

Whirlwind (The Champions #1) by Janet Dailey is not a relaxing beach read. This book is full of sadness and struggle and I was stressed out waiting for the next “ shoe to drop”. It felt like watching and old 50’s western where bad things just keep happening to the good guys all perpetrated by the rich bad guy who can’t get enough and wants it all.
The main characters very likable and it has a very informative prospective on bull riding and rodeo life.
But again not a relaxing read but one full of suspense and intrigue.
Thank you #netglley for this ARC!

Enjoy a Janet Dailey cowboy romance.
I like that Lexie is continuing on in her family's footsteps. She hauls bulls to the rodeo for bull riding.
I like that she babies Whirlwind.
I had to grow to like Shane, he ticked me off early.
Likeable family. Will read more in series

Such a great book! Janet Daily has a hit with this one. Three sisters trying to hold on to their ranch and get into the bull riding circuit with their prize horse. Things start happening on the ranch and some tycoon wants to buy their prize bull. The sisters each have things going on in their lives but Lexie is the sister with the romance. Trying to find out the mystery behind the events happening and keep their ranch keeps you riveted to the story! Love it!

Having gone to rodeos as a child and watched bull riding, this novel brought back many memories. The excitement and awe of the crowd as a rider try to stay on his bull is brought to life in this story. Life on the ranch was told is a very realistic way. I loved the passion Lexie had for her bull and how she stood up to Brock. Very enjoyable story!

I am a big fan of Janet Dailey's but I have to admit this story is not one of my favorites. I just couldn't get into the characters and to me so much of it was depressing I had to push to finish it. A pass on this one for me.

I hadn’t read Janet Dailey in years and decided to give her a try. I had some problems with the book. I didn’t like Shane’s actions at the beginning of the book and Lexie let it go way too easy. Personally I wouldn’t have had anything to do with the guy after what he pulled. As a result I couldn’t really root for them to get together. I also had a problem with the ending. There was an issue with Val that was just dropped. I imagine it will be addressed in a future book but it was very abrupt. Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy.

Thank you to NetGalley, Janet Dailey and Kensington Books for the ARC of Whirlwind
Professional Bull Rider’s Competition is what is important to Lexie and her bull Whirlwind. The fate of the ranch that was left to the sisters after the death of their father depends on how well Whirlwind does on the circuit.
Along the way Lexie meets Shane and he is a bull rider and the last type of man she wants in her life after losing her brother in a riding accident. But that does not stop her from falling for Shane.
Go into the world of PBR competition and you will feel so many emotions you will not be able put this one down until the last page is turned.
Whirlwind is the first in a new series The Champions by Janet Dailey. I cannot wait for the next in the series.

I received a free copy of Whirlwind in exchange for an honest review. I've always enjoyed Janet Dailey's novel, and this did not disappoint. The bull riding aspect was completely foreign to me, but Ms. Dailey did a great job of immersing the reader into uncharted territories making it easy to read. Lexie and Shane's story was unique, and the bull riding accident and injuries sustained from the accident definitely added an element to this novel that I haven;t see before. Overall, this was a well written novel that I would recommend to friends and family.

This is book #1 in the Champions Series and I can't wait to read the rest of the novels in the series. The book is centered around Lexie Champion, her bucking bull Whirlwind, and the handsome professional bull-rider Shane Tully. Lexie needs Whirlwind to do well at the Professional Bull-Riders competition. The prize money will go a long way toward saving the family ranch. Shane just wants to be his own man, score well in competition and make a life with Lexie. But Lexie has only one rule in love-No bull riders. Janet Dailey uses her signature style to create characters that come to life on page one. The plot is emotional, full of mystery and clean romance with just a touch of sizzle.
Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Publishing for my advanced review copy. All opinions and thoughts are my own.

The youngest of the Champion sisters, Lexie loved the ranch and her family but Whirlwind the bull also had a special place in her heart. After a double tragedy, it was left up to Lexie and her sister Tess, along with the ranch hands to run the ranch and the bulls.

Bull riding was a family tradition but with money tight, Tess was of a mind to sell Whirlwind and Lexie was doing everything in her power to show, given the chance, what a champion he would be, thereby making the money that is sorely needed to survive, however, people and forces beyond their control are out to either ruin the Champion family or take over everything they hold dear.

Thanks to Netgalley and Kensington Books for the opportunity to read, review and recommend this book. Another great book in a new Janet Dailey series.

It’s been a long time since I have read a Janet Dailey novel, I must confess. This was a fantastic book. It had it all, romance, intrigue, sadness, greed, revenge, and struggle. You will fall in love with the characters in this book and you will be living the storyline from start to finish. It will make you love bull riding, cowboys, bullfighters, and the commitment and struggles that they face. Set in my backyard, Arizona will come to life for you. All of the beauty, isolation, and drastic conditions. Sit back with your feet up and your favorite beverage. It will take you with it as this storyteller spins her web. That you for allowing me to pre-read this amazing story. Enjoy!

I choose this book because of the Bull Riding setting, it was new to me and I was interested in knowing more.
And on that regard I did, and it was interesting, it took us into the bull side of it and the ranchers and I liked it.
And I wanted more of it.

The book also had this mystery going on the side and that was pretty well written.

What I had a problem with is the development of the main story.
Lexie meets Shane in a not so ideal situation, but there is attraction there and it develops when they keep seeing each other in different situations.
The problem is things happen too fast, on the first week they meet, a friend has a bull fighting accident and the next week they are deciding if they want to continue their relationship and the week after there is the exact same accident that the friend had.
I wish the author had given us more time with them to make it more believable when we read things like “He knows her too well” and “ I love him too much”.

But I did like the three sisters and their ranch life and would continue on with the series.

I've not read a Janet Dailey book in forever and used to ve an avid reader of her books, which I always enjoyed .Quick read, good characters and lively if predictable story. A look at rodeos from the bulls side rather than the cowboys. Thank you NetGalley for an arc in exchange for an honest review.

Janet Dailey brings us the first book in the Champions Series about three sisters. Amidst the backdrop of Arizona, we meet Lexie Champion and Shane Tully. Centered around this story is a prize winning bull, money and power, a series of mysterious notes and events, and love. Ms. Dailey draws you into the world of competitive bull riding, sexy cowboys, and the love of family.

I enjoyed being introduced to the Champions and look forward to reading their next adventure. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I would like to thank NetGalley and Kensington Books for this privilege.

I must preface my reviews of Janet Dailey's books by saying that she was one of my top favourite authors for a very very long time when I was a young girl. I went to the public library after school almost everyday to scour the shelves hoping that there would be a new-to-me book by her on the shelves. Over the years I have read many many that I enjoyed.

You probably know what I am going to say next about this particular title. Granted, there is a sweet relationship between Lexie and Shane, one that is able to overcome the sad circumstances that came their way. But how does one overlook what Shane did to try to get what his boss was after. And that in the first few pages. I'm afraid it just totally put me off the book. I prefer heroes that rescue heroines, not potentially harm her or scare her out of her wits...

I also found that there was too much focus on bulls and bull riding. It might interest some of you but not really for me, I'm afraid.

Thank you, Netgalley and Kensington Books for the ARC. This is my honest review. I haven't given up by any means. I'm still ready for a Janet Dailey book anytime!
