A good ending to a fun series. I have greatly enjoyed the series as a whole, so I'm sad to see it end, but this was a fitting end, tying things up neatly and effectively. It's a romance series, so there wasn't a LOT of worry about anyone, even in the side plots, being killed, but i still appreciate that they all made it and that everyone gets their best HEA.
This is the story of the fifth sister and the seeing stones. Maeve has drawn green and purple and the number four. Brody is missing. The other four kingdoms are getting ready to go to war against the chameleon and the embraces army, this is the finale and it doesn’t disappoint, I loved these books!
I can't believe I'm giving the action-packed ending to The Embraced only 4 stars. But as much as I enjoyed the action and adventure elements of the story, there was something missing with the leading lady, Maeve.
Don't get me wrong. I love Brody and I'm so happy that we finally get to read his HEA. It's just that the youngest embraced sister never made it past the point of doing silly getting things and getting herself into a damsel-in-distress situation (IMHO). The other books had the leading lady actually actively doing things. Here it felt like Maeve was just waiting around to see what happened. It's not necessarily a deal-breaker or actually that bad, but I missed the resourcefulness of previous heroines.
That said, this book does introduce several new characters and gives a bigger part to one that we met in the first book, so there is definitely lots to enjoy and explore within the world. It also very nicely clears up virtually every single plot thread left and even gives an extra dose of happiness to a character from the very beginning of the series.
Overall, it's a great ending to The Embraced/Embraced by Magic series that brings the action to the forefront and makes the romance a fun little side dish to enjoy.
Many, many exuberant thanks to Netgalley and Kensington Books for the early read!
Ahh what a delightful little treat this was. I was very hesitant in the beginning as this author for me is a hit or miss, but I really enjoyed this tale. I like the characters and the way the story was told. I look forward for more.
I have voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of this title given to me via NetGalley. This was just a wonderful book to read and it was just easy to lose yourself in the story. I can’t wait to read more from this author.
Ahhhhhhh this was just such a wonderful book and I just thoroughly enjoyed myself. I didn’t want to put this book down. I just fell in love with this wonderful story and it’s wonderful characters. I will most definitely be reading more stories from this wonderful author.
An amazing end to a fun fantasy romance series! Finally, the last of the embraced sisters of the Isle of Moon gets her happily ever after.... and it's with Brody! *sigh* I've been wanting Brody to get his happily ever after too. How awesome that Maeve and Brody get together. Yay! (no spoilers here, if you read the blurb, you figure it out.)
Finally, finally, finally we get the conclusion of the Embraced/Embraced by Magic series. So much happens here. We get the deets on the remaining circle of 5 members. Their origin story. We get more on the Seer. Who Maeve's parents are. Who Brody's parents are. Brody's origin story. How the rest of the sisters and their broods are. We follow up with secondary characters and meet more Embraced children. And finally, we get Maeve and Brody- the whole story. *sigh* Closure, we get all the closure. (Nothing grinds my gears like leaving holes open or ending with a...)
The story was fun, fast-paced, packed with mystery and adventure, and more than one lurve connection. I will say that it did feel like the romance or connection was a bit lost in the over-arching story and mystery. But again, we got so much closure going on, it was ok!
You absolutely will be lost if you read this as a stand-alone or out of order.
I absolutely recommend this series for lovers of paranormal/fantasy romances!

OMG! What an amazing story! A perfect ending to a great series. I could not put this book down. I loved everything about The Siren and the Deep Blue Sea. I have waited for Maeve and Brody's story since Book 1. I knew they were going to be the last couple to find their happy ending and the wait was so worth it. The mystery, the secrets that are finally revealed, the action and adventure, the emotion, the love and romance. This story had it all. There was also a tear jerking moment too. Ahhh! Such a wonderful story! Now I'm a little sad that this series has come to an end but after reading this story I just want to go back and reread this whole series from the beginning again. I absolutely loved every single story in this Embraced Series. I seriously wish someone would option this series and turn it into a movie. I would love to see these stories come to life on the big screen. Until that happens I will happily relive all these stories in my mind as I read them again and again.

After receiving this ARC I've noticed that is book 5 in a series 🙄 So I've checked book 1 plot description and I said to myself "hmm, sounds interesting, let's start with book 1". I don't regret anything! 😁
I've finished the entire series, all 5 books, in less than 10 days, is THAT good!
The series follows the stories of 5 orphan girls, raised at a convent on an isle, in secret, as they are Embraced, gifted with various powers, forbidden on the mainland. Each book is about one of the girls and the 5th book is the cherry in the top!
The world building is amazing, the story has an air of historical romance in it, with dashing heroes.
5 sweet stars!
Even though I haven’t read the rest of the series which I now am going to this is a great book, Kerrelyn Sparks is also one of my favorite authors and writes awesome books
5th book in a series. This is a fun book, full of magic and shape-shifting and seawitches. Sparks creates an engaging world that you want read about. The romance is very sweet. Review here:

This was a great ending to a great series! It was cool getting even more about the characters and how they are. Kerrelyn Sparks is a go to for me and I can't wait to see what she does next!

The conclusion of the Embraced by Magic series comes to a satisfying ending with Kerrelyn Sparks' THE SIREN AND THE DEEP BLUE SEA. This book should be read after first reading the previous four in the series for best enjoyment. Though the lead characters have a standalone romance, the book is an obvious continuation of an over-arcing plot.
Maeve, the youngest of five sisters, is one of the Embraced--a person with magical power. She's watched her sisters find love and happiness with the four kings of Aerthlan while a dark magical group with sinister plans continues to work against them. The man she's been secretly adoring, Brody, has been instrumental in getting the rulers of Aerthlan intelligence. But now he's missing, and no one but Maeve seems concerned.
Brody is cursed to spend only two hours a day in his normal shape, the rest of his time as another creature (any one of dozens he can shapeshift into), whether it be a dog, a bird, or even another person. Though he has feelings for Maeve, he's never shared them. Because what could he have to offer her?
But when Maeve finds a way to get more information to help their cause, she puts herself in danger. Brody's plans to end the threat must change when he finds Maeve in the clutches of the enemy. Add in an Embraced army, royals converging for a final battle, and Maeve learning the truth about her past, and the adventures keep coming.
The story flows well, and the author has a terrific ability to pull the reader into the story. But the romance takes second fiddle to rushing to the end, and Brody and Maeve's relationship seems almost like an afterthought to the journey to defeat the bad guys. There is almost more time spent on Brody's sister and friend developing their happily ever after than on Maeve and Brody.
All in all, a fun, likeable fantasy romance light on romance and heavy on plot. Easy to read with characters to root for, and a must-read for fans of the series.
This was a great last installment to this series. Kerrelyn Sparks is one of my favorite authors and I can’t wait to see what she comes up with next!
A great end to the Embrace series.
WE finally learn the truth about Brody and his curse and who Maeve is what she has to give to the embrace.
Good suspense twists mystery unfolds,
Great story.
Sorry to see it end.

This book was a great wrap up for The Embraced series. This is Maeve's story - but also Brody's. Surprises come for the reader for both characters as the story unfolds and the background of Maeve's family as well as Brody's is exposed. While this book can be read by itself, it's much better if you've read the whole series. Some of the background humor around Brody may be missed if the reader has not had a chance to enjoy Brody's journey throughout the series. And I LOVED the side story of Nevis and Elinor. I chuckled at the banter and flirting between the two. This story does a great job of wrapping up all of the questions that came up in the series. It had a great conclusion. 4.5 out of 5 stars.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I've been waiting to see how the 5th and final book in the series would end. I would recommending reading the first four books before reading this one.
Maeve has had a crush on Brody for years. When he goes missing for two months, she sets out to find him. This book answered some of those questions about Brody that had been popping up for me when reading the first four books.
Obviously with this being the final book in the series, we learn both Maeve's and Brody's heritage (and I was not expecting either of them), who the remaining members of the Circle of Five are, as well as finally meet the Embraced Army.
In the previous books I didn't like how fast the characters fell in love, but didn't feel like that in this book because both main characters had known each other throughout the entire series, so it felt more like a natural progression. There were plenty of surprises and twists in this book that it didn't feel like there were any slow spots.
It was a good end to the series and I enjoyed reading about Maeve and Brody.
Maeve, an Embraced who shifts into a seal, is the only sister not married. Her four other sisters are married and Queens. The man she’s in love with is Brody and he is a shifter too. Brody can be only himself two hours a day and doesn’t want to have Maeve live a life like that. He was cursed as a boy and has searched for the sea witch that cursed him. Maeve is hunting for the Embraced Army and gets caught now she’s in the castle with a Queen who is as evil as they get. Brody is impersonating a Seer and trying to get closer to the Queen and find the sea witch. Can they defeat the Queen and the last of the Circle of Five, a group intent on taking over the world, and live happily ever after as a human man?
Good story that has action and some suspense. Shifters and other enhanced people working to make the world a better place.

A somewhat satifying end to an interesting series. I guess they saved the best for last? Our youngest and most mundane Embraced inheriting the most power. Not only is she a Selkie, but she has the power of foresight, along with other powers she inherited from her wicked mother. And Brodie is not just a dog, he is a prince and next in line for the throne. How convenient. The book did read well and fast, which was a plus, the smexy scenes were hot. A good wrap up, now to see what else this author has in the works.
Kerrelyn Sparks has done it again, she has written a book that not only can stand alone but can end the series of books. we finally get to see the story of Brody who for me is one of the best characters in the series and you always want to see him be able to come into his own and find his own love. We are seen glances in the other books that Brody is attracted to the youngest of the sisters but you really don't know how they're going to come together and she has done it perfectly. I not only recommend that you read this book but I also recommend that you read all of her books.
