I never turn down the chance to read a Lisa Jackson book, and I have read many. This is the 3rd in her Cahills series, but while these are listed as a series, each book is written about a different family member so serves as a stand alone. The Cahills are an obscenely rich San Francisco based family with a dynasty attitude that is shared by every member of the family, so far.

James Cahill has distanced himself from the rest of the family's daily operations. He owns and operates a construction company that does very well under the Cahill masthead. But James is more famous for his playboy lifestyle. But actions bring consequences. When James wakes in the hospital with no memory of the last few days and suspect #1 in the disappearance of his girlfriend, his actions will certainly come back to haunt him.

Excellent read for a cold, wet day. I loved the last book, loved this one and will love the next.

Lots of people to dislike in this book. I had to know how it all came together, but it wasn't a page turner. Interesting and convoluted. Some strange woo woo with the detective. Although there is a cliff hanger of sorts, I don't care enough to read the next one.

This book is the 3rd in the Cahill series & did not disappoint! The ending was definitely a surprise, and left off with a cliffhanger! Can’t wait to read the next one!

For many years now, I’ve been a faithful reader of the Three Thrilling Lisas — Lisa Unger, Lisa Jackson, and Lisa Gardner. All of them have been writing scary novels long before the current domestic thriller craze and all can dependably deliver the mysterious thrills.

This book is no exception. One of Jackson’s Cahill books, You Betrayed Me focuses on the golden boy of a wealthy San Francisco family with amnesia and the many women he has apparently left in his wake. And of course, some of them begin turning up dead.

Jackson’s Cahill family books lean into the “romantic” side of the romantic thriller vibe, and remind me somewhat of Danielle Steel in their focus on the glitz and glam of San Francisco high society and the high drama of relationships and broken hearts. So if you don’t like that kind of romantic drama, this one may not be for you. Me, I love any kind of book featuring my hometown of San Francisco, and I also sometimes enjoy reading about “rich people problems” — Jackson brings these along with both the drama and the murder.

This wasn’t one of my very favorites of Jackson’s - the typical hospital amnesia story is a little been there, done that, and many of the women in this story were a little too stereotypically lovestruck or nutty for my liking. And some of the twists were straight out of a soap opera (which I think was intentional and a bit of campy fun). However I as always did enjoy the Cahill family drama, especially James himself. Overall a reliable, well-written romantic thriller with some interesting new character development and growth ideal for fans of Jackson’s Cahill books. It will be interesting to see where the Cahill story will go from here, as a LOT of things happened. 3.5 stars.

Thanks to NetGalley, Kensington Books and Lisa Jackson for the advance copy! Out everywhere on October 27..

This felt like it should have been turned into a soap opera like Dallas or Dynasty… Maybe more like another 80’s soap opera like Knots Landing. Ok enough about my tv history.

I thought the writing was good but I never seemed to care about these rich spoiled characters and even after James suffers the trauma and has amnesia I still didn’t care about how much he was dealing with.

The suspense was well written but for some reason even after having read some of Jackson’s books I just couldn’t get into.

I received a complimentary copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

This was my first Lisa Jackson book and it certainly won’t be my last. This was an entertaining murder mystery that will keep your eyes glued to the pages.

From the flip of the first page, to the turn of the last, I was hooked and on the edge of my seat in anticipation. My ever present coffee cup was gripped tightly in my hand as I read because the reading experience was just that suspenseful. Just that tense. Just that gripping.

Lisa Jackson is one hell of a writer and sure knows how to keep her readers hooked and on the edge of their seats!

This story was intriguing, captivating, twisty, and filled to the brim with drama.

An entertaining, dramatic, thrilling, and intriguing murder mystery that will keep you reading long into the night!

Highly recommend!

Lisa Jackson's 'You Betrayed Me' is the latest installment in her Cahills series, and reads like a soapy thriller. This saga follows womanizer James Cahill as his world is turned upside down when his girlfriend goes missing. This twisty story is a little slower than most of Jackson's work, though it's still an intriguing read. The longevity of the author's career has allowed some of the characters to become a little less developed, and I felt like some fell flat. Regardless, this was an entertaining read, and kept readers on their toes!

What Money Can Do

This is another installment of the crazy rich Cahills. James to try to make it without all the family ties with his construction business but that sure doesn't make him a stand up guy. Yet again he cheated on his current girlfriend Megan with Sophia and isn't the first time for the womanizer. Only this time he wakes up in a hospital bed after Megan confronts him. Now Megan is missing. What happened to her and did James play a part of her disappearance?

Very *meh*.

I wanted to love this so much but just could NOT get into it. It was very reminiscent of a soap opera where all the drama revolves around people not communicating which really grates on my nerves. I wish everyone would just talk.

Take one guy, a womanizer, who will inherit a lot of money as a member of the wealthy crazy Cahill family of San Francisco, bring in Sophia, Megan, Rebecca and past girlfriends, and you have a story of what will happen next. James prefers to concentrate on his construction company and just have fun not worrying about money. Of course a rich womanizer is a great chick magnet and he seems to have the girls in spades though leaves a lot of unhappy behind. As the story goes James Cahill wakes up after an accident in his home which he just can’t remember how it happened. One girl is missing and locked up wondering what will happen to her. Others are chasing after him while for the police James seems to be the main suspect in the case of the missing girl. As the story progresses the plot thickens, James actually starts thinking about his behavior as he sure wants to find out where the missing girl is while warding off the woman. Interesting plot, characters and a satisfying Jackson novel.

Lisa Jackson is one of my favorite writers. I noticed one small difference in this story...it was more romance (if you want to call James Cahill's shenanigans romance...). James Cahill and his merry band of women: Sophia, Megan, Rebecca and many more! I guess James forgot that there is truth to "hell hath no fury than a woman scorned!" Of the women in his life, he should have known that eventually the truth comes out! This was a fast paced thriller. It didn't pull any punches. Every character was aptly described! In a nutshell, greed is not a pretty thing!

Just read the book. I'm sure you will like it just like I did.

Thank you to #NetGalley for providing me the ARC!

James Cahill is a heir to millions and a bit of a ladies man. He tends to juggle several girls at once, with another waiting in the wings. When his current girlfriend, Megan, finds out about his side girl, Sophia, the claws come out. The couple fights, Megan goes missing and James ends up with amnesia in the hospital.
Now he's the police's number one suspect. To top it off, women around him keep dying. And yet, there's still the girl waiting in the wings.

Lisa Jackson is a guilty pleasure. Her books are always a quick read, filled with drama, romance and a little suspense. If its possible, I would class her books as Romantic Thrillers. Its a nice come down read from the suspense thrillers I usually read.

You Betrayed me juggles several characters all linked by the handsome, James Cahill. It seems like over kill with the amount of ladies drooling over him, stalking him, and trying to tie him down, but all works toward the plot of the story.
I did feel like Megan's story was kind of lost in the mix of other love interests. She is the missing person who starts the investigation, but her story kind of fizzles out. I would have liked to see more of her ending in the story.
The main plot twist, the big reveal, was predictable and at the same time not. lol. It worked well with the story though, and added to the web of deciet surrounding James.

The book is a a Lifetime Movie waiting to happen. Full of drama and a little like the soap operas I watched with my mom, it was entertaining. Romantic Thriller is definitely the genre with this book.

Thank you Netgalley and Kensington Publishing for the chance to read an advanced copy of You betrayed me by Lisa Jackson. This is book 3 of The Cahills but you dont really need to read the first two; I read them years ago, but it can definitely be read as a stand alone. The Cahills of San Francisco are famous for two things: their vast wealth, and the scandals that surround them. But then, James Cahill, wakes up in a hospital and barely remembers anything including the woman he has been cheating on his girlfriend with. Now his girlfriend Megan is missing, and James is starting to be questioned by the police.
While I enjoyed this book, I found it a bit too much drama for me. I had an issue with some of the characters as well; I didnt like them.

You Betrayed Me by Lisa Jackson was a THRILLER murder mystery. We had lots of shady characters, a manwhore, women willing to win at all costs, and some nosy people. When you put all that together with a stormy season with lots of snow, you just don’t know what will happen next. OH and money - the anticipation of lots and lots of money.

James Cahill, despite being the heir to lots of money, has worked hard for all he has. He has started three small businesses and works hard. He just can’t seem to keep his pants zipped. Beautiful women throw themselves at him and he is easily seduced, even when he is seeing one woman. Into this situation, James finds himself in the hospital with a concussion and a wrecked shoulder and claw marks down his face. The woman who did this to him is missing and everyone thinks he is involved. Too bad he can not remember the night in question. This is just how it starts!

Not only is Megan missing, Sophia keeps showing up in his bed and Rebecca has shown up. The plot becomes more and more intense as more creepy things happen and people die. The twists and turns kept me right on my toes and I was so busy trying to figure out who was doing what that I found myself reading faster! You Betrayed Me by Lisa Jackson is a twisted thriller with lots of twists!

I will leave a review on Amazon and B&N on Oct 27, 2020

As always with Lisa Jackson's book it is very well written, gripping and a page turner. Having said thta for me it wasn't up to what I normally have come to expect from this author. For me I found the storyline a little to confusing at times. I have really enjoyed getting to know the other members of the Cahill family, but James just has no redeeming qualities. I would suggest others read this for themselves, because others will enjoy the book more than I did I am sure.

I received a ARC from NetGalley and Kensington Publishing and was under no obligation to leave a favorable review, all opinions expressed here are my own.

An heir to the Cahill fortune discovers just how dangerous, and duplicitous, family can be. . . The Cahills of San Francisco are famous for two things: their vast wealth, and the scandals that surround them. Murder, greed, deadly ambition. . . some people will do anything to get, and keep, the Cahills’ kind of money. Not that James Cahill wants any of it. He’s tried to make his own way, less interested in a future inheritance than in his construction company—and in enjoying the many women taken in by the easy charms of a handsome, soon-to-be-rich bad boy. Perhaps there’ve been too many women. Waking up in a small hospital in Washington State, bandaged and bruised, James barely recognizes the gorgeous blonde who comes to visit. Through the haze of pain and medication, he recalls that she is Sophia, the woman he’s been cheating with. Gradually memories return—his girlfriend, Megan, had found out about Sophia. Now Megan is missing, her sister, Rebecca, is hounding him—and police and reporters are asking questions too. James insists he has no idea what happened. Yet he can’t escape a feeling of dread. . . Meanwhile, in a locked room, a woman waits, trapped, petrified, and desperate. She thought she knew who to trust. But the betrayal you can’t imagine—or can’t remember—may be the most terrifying weapon of all. . .

So.... Why only three stars for this mystery thriller. Although a good story, lots of characters I find this story, to slow, much too slow. The pace of the book, the lack of suspense, took away my interest. When a book takes me a week, just over to finish, that shows a lack of interest.

Sadly and with apologies to the author, too slow, not gripping enough, lack of excitement, action or surprises.

I would like to thank Netgalley and Kensington Books for an advance copy of You Betrayed Me, the fourth novel in the San Francisco series.

James Cahill, scion of the fabulously wealthy San Francisco Cahills, has moved to Washington State and established both a successful business and an energetic love life. He wakes from unconsciousness in the hospital to see Sophia, the woman he has been cheating on his girlfriend, Megan, with by his bedside and she tells him that Megan is missing. He has no memory of the events that led to his hospitalisation or of Megan and Sophia but neither the Police nor Megan’s sister, Rebecca believe him.

I enjoyed You Betrayed Me which has an absorbing plot with plenty of twists and turns. The novel is a bit of a slow burner in comparison with some of the author’s other novels with a fair amount of scene setting and character introduction. It is told from various points of view, the rather unlovely James, the vengeful Rebecca, the ambitious reporter Charity, the lovelorn Willow, the obsessive Sophia and the weird Detective Rivers. There is also a hint of what happens to Megan early on and the odd chapter from an unnamed imprisoned woman. This is normally the kind of setup that doesn’t hold my attention, too complicated and distracting, but in this case it is very well done and each voice adds a layer of speculation and intrigue. I even found myself wishing for more from the captive and that’s unheard of.

The novel is all about relationships with James. He has cut a swathe through the local ladies, breaking hearts and engendering a lot of resentment and bad feeling. As I said, decidedly unlovely but apparently irresistible. I must be too old to see the attraction. This provides Detective Rivers and his partner Detective Mendoza with plenty of suspects, motives and potential scenarios and makes for an interesting read. The twists come thick and fast at the end so most of the novel is an intriguing but slow build up. I didn’t eventually find the main motivation particularly convincing but the journey to it was enjoyable.

You Betrayed Me is a good read that I can recommend.

Guilty pleasure reading at its finest. With a large cast of wholly unlikable characters, a twisted plot, and a return to the mysterious Cahill family this one will keep you up late. The mystery was a convoluted mess I couldn't put down. The reveals were crazy. And that ending! Wow! This one reminded me of why I have been a fan of Lisa Jackson for so many years.
