A short and sweet romance from Chalon Linton! I read this book almost in one sitting, as it kept me engaged and dying to know what would happen next. Told in first-person point of view, there were a few instances when I wanted a break from Paige’s thoughts, but Linton did a nice job of breaking up Paige’s internal monologue with interactions with other characters.
The relationship between Jake and Paige moves quickly but doesn’t feel rushed, and the reader experiences their relationship right along with Paige in a way that makes the story come to life. This is the first book by Linton I’ve read, and it certainly won’t be the last. 4/5 stars

Great contemporary style. I loved the how both characters grew in their understanding of trust and love. I always love a book that has a loving and influential mother-heart strings are pulled but Jakes mother was key in the development of the characters. I loved it! All of it.

I really enjoyed this book. I thought the friendship and romance was very realistic. The characters were well developed and I became invested in their story. I liked the storyline between mother and daughter.
I was pleasantly surprised with this novel! I feel as though the characters were realistic and had "real life" struggles to overcome. Anyone who has ever felt heartbreak and the struggles to start a new relationship after will connect with Paige. Jake also struggles in his own ways, and I feel as though readers will connect with how personal his struggles became. There is always a chance for healing if you have a little bit of hope - and I think that is what I liked most about Paige and Jake's story.
Overall, a great read!
I loved the meet cute between Paige and Jake. This book is so much fun to read. Paige is very sweet, honest and kind. Jake is the perfect gentleman and loves his family. I love how their relationship grows throughout the book. I would recommend this book.
This is a cute, clean read. Paige had a bad experience with her last boyfriend and is gun shy. She meets Jake by accident (literally). They are both nice characters and the plot is fun. In my opinion, good characters don't have to be flawless, but they have to be likable. Neither Jake nor Paige are perfect, and I didn't get tired of them running away from each other. But the story was entertaining and had a happily-ever-after.
I read this in one day and really enjoyed it. I especially loved Jake and Paige’s meet cute. The characters were well developed and easy to like. The story flowed well and I liked how realistic Paige and Jake’s different struggles were. A sweet and clean love story that will give you all the feels.

the great
- Jake is such a stand-up guy. So gentle and sweet, a good book-boyfriend type.
- Paige's inner dialogue about what she's looking for in a partner after the breakup with Gavin was pretty profound and insightful. Had me itching to highlight.
- Paige's struggles to move on and trust again, questioning if her romance with Jake was too soon, felt real and grounded.
- bonus points for quoting one of my favorite movie lines - "what are men compared to rocks and mountains?"
everything else
- don't ask me why, but it really threw me for a loop that she wore a jean jacket with jeans for a date. this minor detail is one among many that made me feel like the book could have used another editing pass for superfluous text.
- this book was a slow read for me, and I found parts of it to be repetitive.
in summary
the bones of this story had me interested, but I was never pulled into the story enough to keep me engaged.

When Paige Hall catches her boyfriend cheating on her, she decides she is done with the dating scene. This all changes for Paige when she almost literally has a run-in with Captain Jake Summers while at the grocery store. Jake and Paige click right from the start but with his crazy career and her insecurities left over from her last relationship they hit multiple roadblocks to their HEA.
I fell in love with characters right from the start. From Paige's obsession with all things Jane Austen, to Jake's respect and love for the women in his life there wasn't a single character that I didn't identify with at some point in the story. There are some stories that strike you in the heart and stary with you, and this is one of those.
Chalon Linton has a powerful way of connecting real emotion to her stories. There were many times while reading that I had to sit the book down and just feel the emotions that a scene provoked in me. Paige learning to trust after a heartbreak, her learning to grow to appreciate and understand her mother more. Jake's dedication to his job and his family. These were all so relatable to me that I can't wait to read what Chalon writes next!
I enjoyed this story. I loved the view it gave of what life in the armed forces is like. The characters were solid throughout most of the story though I didn't feel as if they stayed consistent with their personality all the way through. I would reread the story but it loses a star for the inconsistencies.
Flying In Love is a beautifully written romance. Great plot and character development. I really hated to see this book end. Highly recommend this book. I received an arc from the publisher and Netgalley and this is my unbiased review.
Paige has just caught her boyfriend of 10 months kissing another girl when he had not wanted to see her that night. It was less than 24 hours since he had told her he loved her. The next week she finds herself in a parking lot almost being hit by a car driven by a very attractive man. When she doesn’t seem to accept his apology, he suggests he take her to dinner to make up for the scare. At dinner Paige finds herself attracted to Jake. His easy manner makes spending time together easy and fun. But the second date gets cancelled one hour before because of his job as an Air Force pilot and Paige begins to wonder if Jake is trustworthy. Thus, begins a story of forgiveness, learning to trust after hurt, learning to build a healthy relationship and the trials placed on people serving in the military. A very good book. I was given a free copy in exchange for an honest review.
A sweet treat waiting to be devoured:
This was such a sweet, engaging and delightful book with plenty of tender moments to balance out the drama and angst. I liked that Paige was relatable with her flaws and insecurities. Her last relationship had not ended well and she was still trying to get over it when she met Air Force pilot Jake. Meanwhile Jake was dreamy and I loved how he was a real gentleman who cherished Paige. It was wonderful watching him come to accept God's grace and learn to trust Him .
I thought the chapter headings were fun and the pacing of the book was excellent. This is my first book by this author but certainly hope it won't be the last

The book was okay. It did not really capture my attention and was rather slow moving. Not quite what I expected.
I didn't always love the style of this book--there were long passages of Paige recounting her day and her inner thoughts that dragged sometimes--but there was something compelling about it that kept me reading and has had me going back to re-read certain passages multiple times. There are some totally adorable interactions between Jake and Paige--and there are realistically frustrating ones that they have to work through in order for things to work out for them. From their meet-cute to their HEA, this book is a great choice for those who like their romances sweet and clean but also with some depth as the characters have to work through real issues.
4 stars.

I enjoyed the book overall and thought it was a cute cute-meet. I hadn't read one like that before so it felt fresh to me. I liked the characters. I thought Jake was dreamy except when he was dealing with major stressors and then he was confusing. I felt like Paige had some growth over the course of the book as she learned how to be herself instead of molding herself to what she thought other people wanted. I was also glad she learned how to get along with her mother.
However, I enjoyed the first half of this book more than the rest of the book. I felt like more happened in the first part. Some parts of the story got told instead of shown so perhaps that is why it felt like less happened. I felt like the story was wrapping up and then realized I was only about 3/4 of the way through. I wondered how the rest of the story would get filled.
My biggest problem with the book was that I felt like Jake's response in Vegas didn't match the situation. Seeing the scene from Paige's pov made him look angry so I get that but his explanation just didn't match up to that response. What was he really thinking?
This is Christian lit and has those themes through out the story. It is a part of Paige so it felt normal for her to react how she did and say the things she said. It didn't feel over the top.
Being a military spouse would be so hard. Kudos to all those who do it. And thank you to all serving and their families that support them.

I loved this story. I am always a little hesitant with contemporary romances as they can skew a bit cheesy. There was none of that here. What you had here were two hearts needing to heal and a romance worth reading. There were some gratuitous mentions of Jane Austen, but that is more than all right with me. I saw supportive friendships and strong family ties. It was everything you would want in a good Christian Romance. And there was romance. There was even room for a not so over the top grand gesture. There was healing, there was faith, and there was hope. I laughed, I cried, I had all the feels. I would definitely read this one again.
I wanted to like this book and for the most part I did. It was fluffy and cutesy and nothing original or tough, but the rampant immaturity drove me up the wall. I also did not like Jake’s poor manner in handling stress. The first time it happens in the book, it happens for an understandable reason. The second time it happened was completely ridiculous and I do not understand his excuse for it or why she so readily accepted it. Far too short to really handle his issues.
I was provided with an ARC of this book by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This book was amazing. I couldn’t put it down. Typically, romance books take their time and we do not see a resolution until the end. However, we get to see a dating journey. Of course, ups and downs abound here as well, but it was a breathe of fresh air. Every second was so much fun. The friendships, the importance family, and the romance was amazing. I need to get a physical copy of this book so I can reread!!

Chalon Linton knows how to keep me turning pages, this story was one of learning to trust, family relationships, illness, military and of course romance. I enjoyed the story, Paige is on the rebound, of a broken relationship, and is slow to trust when she meets someone new. I loved Paige's relationship with her best friend and how close she was to her sister. This was a well written book, I love reading historical romance novels, but some of my favorite stories are of the modern or present day.
