Who doesn't love a good cowboy romance? This one was fun and swoony and romantic! Thoroughly enjoyed.
I wasn't quite connecting with this one and I had to DNF with the possibility of picking up in the future. Thank you for the opportunity to read the book and I apologize for the inconvenience.
I'm a sucker for cowboy romance. Amy Andrews is quickly growing to be one of my favorites. This was a delightful story and characters.
Ahhhh this was just such a great book. I just was entranced by this story and these characters. I look forward to seeing what happens next.
I loved the characters and the storyline development of this book. It was absolutely one of my favorites so far and I can't wait to delve in to the next one that this author writes. The storyline was simple, enjoyable, and entertaining.
Big fan of Amy Andrews and this Credence, Colorado series.
This was probably my favourite of the series as I loved Tucker. A lot. LOVED HIM! He was exactly what Della needed. Della grew so much and I loved that Tucker was there the whole way. Just being there for her and letting her figure things out on her own.
These two are one of my favourite book couples so far this year.
I really liked this romance between Tucker (the bartender in the town bar and Della’s brother Arlo’s best friend) and Della who had a very bad childhood and a horrible marriage behind her.
Della was rescued by Arlo and brought to live with him two years before this story starts.
And she is now starting to feel open to dating and sex again. She is really attracted to Tucker and he is also attracted to her but since she is Arlo’s sister and also what she has been through he won’t do anything about it. But can he resist her when she asks him to help her use Tinder and be her protector during her dates or when she comes with a proposal that is very hard for him to refuse? And how will Arlo react when he finds out what happens behind his back?
I really loved Tucker. He is such a brooding quiet guy but he is so protective towards Della and he does everything for her to help her through her anxiety and her new adventures into adulthood. He is just so sweet, caring but also very stubborn which we see through his resistance of Della’s advances. And she pushes him a lot.
I had a little difficulty liking Della in the beginning because I thought she acted very juvenile and didn’t think of anybody but herself. She just kept pushing Tucker to the brim and she didn’t respect his boundaries.
I really would have wished to know what happened to her long before we did because some of her behavior was excused because of it.
The other characters in this series are great and the romance between the elderly couple at the home where Della works is so great because we never read about that in a lot of romances. And it is a mixed race relationship. And I can’t wait to see who the next book is about but I hope it is about Arlo;)! He is such a sweetheart.
I can definitely recommend this book.
I got this book from Entangled Publishing and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
Asking for Trouble is an exceptional story which takes a sensitive subject of sexual/physical abuse, written with a nice balance of humor and seriousness, so one can enjoy a survivor’s path to love and happiness. For the last three years Della Munroe has slowly recovered from an abusive marriage and wants to take back her life and start living. That means playing the field and do all the things someone her age should be doing. Della figures the best way is to use Tinder to find her groove because finding a forever love is not in her plans. Ideally, she would love to indulge on her crush, Tucker Daniels, her brother’s best friend, but he wouldn’t want someone as damaged as her. That doesn’t mean she couldn’t ask for help.
Tucker Daniels has helped Della move forward by just being a friend. She’s Arlo’s little sister so he knows she’s off limits but he can’t help admiring her and liking her a lot. When she asks him for help sorting out her dates on Tinder, he ends doing a whole lot more like teaching her to drive, escorting her to her dates, and helping her move. When Della asks him to become a sex tutor, a friend with benefits, he can’t believe his good fortune. He’s never been able to say no to her so he agrees to help thinking he can scratch an itch, get her on the right path, and bow out gracefully. What could possibly go wrong?
Asking for Trouble may have been a combination of many tropes in one story but the whole thing worked out for both Della and Tucker. Della fell for her brother’s best friend, learned to love and be loved, and did it with the help, therapy included, of a whole lots of people in Credence. Tucker had to let go of the idea she was too young for him and better off with someone else mentality, and realize he could be the ONE for her. There were some memorable scenes that made me laugh and others that made my heart ache for the pain Della had to endure. Amy Andrews writes with humor and snark, and throws in quirky situations and individuals, and you have an entertaining romance read. Asking for Trouble can be read as a standalone but I think it would be more enjoyable to start from the beginning. Credence is one of those places which I can’t wait to return and catch up with the good people in this small town.
4 1/2 STARS!
A heartfelt love story that will have you laughing out loud! With the third book in her Creedence, Colorado series Amy Andrews continues to delight with humor and sass as she brings love to life in this small town romance. Well developed characters and their supporting cast are sure to please.
Della Munroe is ready to live again, and her new-found confidence is fun to watch. I enjoyed watching her come into her own.
Tucker Daniels is yummy! He's strong and supportive and simply can't resist the way he feels about her for another minute.
I highly recommend this book as well as the entire series to anyone who loves a small town romance filled with attention grabbing characters, humorous relationships and enough heart and heat to keep anyone happy!
I just finished Asking for Trouble by @amyandrewsbooks tonight and 🥵🥵🥵🥵. I need some sweet tea to cool down from this one. I have now read all three books in this series and love them all for different reasons. But this one might be my favorite. Tucker is such a sweet cinnamon character. And I loved Della’s back story. Tucker has been a staple in Della’s life after moving to Credence at the end of a painful, abusive marriage. (CW for references to rape and abuse). Della is now ready to get back out there and Tucker acts as her wingman. But they are also harboring feelings for each other. The two of them together is absolute fireworks. Shout out to Rosemary, one of my all time favorite side characters. This one is more Colorado small town romance than cowboy, but the heat level is 🔥🔥🔥. Thank you @entangled_publishing for my copy of this book. We read this is June for my #cowboyupjune read along. .
Hilarious Way to Overcome a Painful Past
Della spent 3 years in counseling working to recover from the physical, mental and sexual abuse she received at her ex’s hands. Della’s brother Arlo, Sheriff of Credence, came to her rescue back then and brought her to live with him.
Tucker, owner of the town’s popular bar Jack’s, and best friend to Arlo, has been half in love with Della almost since she came to town. He’s watched her sink low, then steadily overcome her past and start healing.
Della starts to spread her wings, so to protect her, Tucker volunteers to be her wingman as she explores dating through Tinder. As the two get closer, they are still held back by their concerns. She feels she’s too broken for any kind of permanent relationship and he still feels he’s too old for her.
What I liked about this story:
• I loved the dialogue and non-verbal communications between Della and Tucker
• Della’s discussions with her therapist Selena
• All of Della’s interactions with the residents of the retirement home she worked at
• Her loyal friends, old and new
• The writer’s Easter Egg: novelist Winona is stuck at the point that she was already a certain percentage through the book and the characters still won’t have sex yet.
o “The other woman sighed. “I can’t get my hero and heroine to do it.” “They were supposed to do it in chapter two,” Winona lamented. “I’m on chapter ten, and they’re still refusing to get down and dirty. Seriously, I’ve never met two more recalcitrant characters in my life. I mean—it’s sex, right?” She bugged her eyes at Della in appeal.
o (Tucker and Della don’t begin their “relationship “until Chapter 13
• Oh, and the funny scenes from Della and her friends visiting Frieda’s for sex toys, like the Suck-u-buzz!
• Hilarious inner dialogue while she’s trying out each of the 3 toys she buys.
• The lady across the way (Mrs. Doyle) who is blackmailing Tucker not to tell anyone about them and his nightly visits staying overnight.
Honestly, there wasn’t anything not to like about this story. What a winner!
My copy was provided in advance from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This is the third book in the series, but can easily be read as a stand alone. I found all the books delightful to read. Easy banter between the endearing characters, hilarious situations, an education about vibrators and a compelling plot make this a fun RomCom.
Although I did read the previous 2 books, I don't remember the main characters here, Della, her brother Arlo, the sheriff and his two best friends Tucker and Drew. I don't remember if the story of how Arlo lost his leg, found out about having a sister at his father's death bed, about him tracking her down and finding her chained to a bed by her abusive husband and father-in-law, bringing her home to Credence, Colorado and how the town embraced her were in the previous books, but they were skimmed over here. Three years of being protected by not only her brother and his friends, but the whole town, and therapy, Della is ready to lead a normal life, and she has been crushing on Tucker. But aside from her fragility, she is also also Arlo's little sister, so he has been suppressing his feelings about her. But when she decides to try dating and downloads Tinder, she asks him to be her wingman. Poor Tucker can only be strong for so long.
I read an ARC from Netgalley.com. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.
I read this book for a couple of challenges with fellow bookstagrammers. One was a Cowboy Romance buddy read. Only thing is, it's not REALLY a cowboy romance. True Della and Tucker live in Credence, Colorado but he is a bartender and she is a nurse at a retirement home. It is, however the third book in the Credence series (of which I've read one). The characters have some cross over, but it's marginal and you don't need to read one before reading the next.
Della is the sister of Tucker's friend Arlo, the local policeman. Arlo rescued Della three years previously from an abusive marriage (in a description sounding like something out of Deliverance). Arlo has cast a protective wing over Della ever since. But now Della feels ready to give dating a try and ropes Tucker in to be her wingman. He also teaches her to drive. After a few false starts, literally and figuratively, Della gains her confidence, and she and Tucker strike up a deal. She wants to learn a few things and she trusts him sufficiently to teach her. He helps her out, having her (ahem) best interests at heart.
This is a fun contemporary read, and that's not to dismiss Della's experience or make light of her past. In fact there is a sense of taking something from this about being reflective, being self-determining, being ready and moving forward. Tucker is a gem of a character and apart from the steam between Della and Tucker, I loved the banter between Tucker and his mates, Drew and Arlo, as well as Della and her nursing home sidekicks. Whilst Credence might be a little stifling if it was real life, given how everyone knows everyone and has an opinion about everything but their own business, the characters all seem to gel but at the same time have quite distinct stories and seem fresh.
Thank you to Entangled Publishing for providing an electronic reading copy of this book in exchange for a review.
I love this series! Tucker and Della are awesome. This is a fantastic Rom-Com that delivers all the feels. Amy Andrews knows how to write a perfect romance.
*I received this book free from Entangled Publishing via NetGalley.*
Tucker is in love with his best friends younger sister. He won't admit to anyone, let alone himself.
"Talking about bases with my friend's little sister? I'd rather set fire to the bar."
Della had a hard childhood and then an awful marriage. Her half-brother found her and saved her from the hell she was in. If you've read the previous books in this series you've learned a little about her.
It took years for her to find herself again, but once she did she wanted to get back to as much normal as possible. Truly what she wanted was Tucker, but she knew he didn't like her like that, so the next best thing...dating app. And who best to help her...Tucker. Why? Because he was the first picture that popped up on her screen. Of course he had it deleted before she could swipe right.
"Are they all so...scandalous?"
Her dating app escapades were a little humorous, mostly because of her inexperience. However, for Tucker, they were torture. Until one night Della decided to make a move and poor Tucker couldn't resist what he'd been secretly desiring.
"Well...you're also a really attractive guy who" - her gaze dropped to his mouth - "looks like he knows how to kiss a woman just right."
All they had to do now was decide if they were temporary, like planned, or in it for the long haul. Oh, and someone had to tell her brother. Yikes! I wouldn't have wanted to that's for sure. He is a little overprotective, but also understandably so.
Asking for Trouble is another good book in the Credence, Colorado series. It takes two broken people and makes them whole. I'm looking forward to seeing where else this series goes.
Oh and love all things Frieda! Love the discussion about going there between Della and Tucker. Definitely loved the actual trip there with the girls. Can't wait to see if maybe a certain writer and cop discover a flame of their own.
Thank You NetGalley for allowing me to read the eArc of this book. This is the first book of Amy Andrews that I've read. I was not disappointed at all. This was such a good story of Della who had been thru a abusive marriage and learned to come out the other side. This is a story of survival and finding love and healing. This also had some pretty amazing hot sexy times. I'm for sure gonna go and read the first books of this series. Do yourself a favor and read this story.
Steam, Romance and humor, Asking for Trouble is the third book in Credence Colorado and is well worth the read. The characters are engaging, and the story delivers with its heartfelt and humorous moments throughout. I will be reading more by this author and recommend you pick up this book and series yourself.
I very much enjoyed "Asking for Trouble" by Amy Andrews, an emotional and heartfelt story featuring endearing, sympathetic characters. The female lead character, Della, endured a terrible ordeal with her ex-husband but came through on the other side a stronger, braver, more independent woman, and I admired her tremendously. I loved watching her reclaim her life and desires and realize that she was free to create whatever future she wanted for herself.
The male lead, bartender Tucker, was also pretty great. While it was sometimes difficult for him to balance his growing romantic relationship with Della and his longtime friendship with her older brother, Arlo, he worked hard to be a good friend to both of them, and he always came across as very caring and supportive. The slow burn of Della and Tucker's relationship growth was well crafted, and I really appreciated that Tucker was so conscientious about respecting Della's boundaries and making sure that he didn't push her for too much, too fast.
"Asking for Trouble" is the third book in the Credence, Colorado series, and it mostly works as a standalone. I have read the previous two books, but I have to admit to feeling like I missed something due to the way Della and Arlo's past was presented in this book, almost as if what happened with their father and when Arlo met Della was supposed to be common knowledge. It didn't make sense to me for so many people to be intimately familiar with the details of what had to be a very painful part of Della's past. Her ex-husband took a plea deal so his case never went to trial, which means there was no public record of Della's testimony, plus her identity as a victim of sexual assault should have been protected anyway.
I understand that Credence is a small town that thrives on gossip, but I find it difficult to believe that Arlo or Della would share the story with someone who would then gossip about it. Besides, as a police officer, Arlo must be able to keep information confidential or he wouldn't be able to do his job! There's no reason for Della to be ashamed of her past, and she should certainly be able to talk about it whenever and with whomever she feels comfortable, but IMO it should be her choice to do so. She shouldn't have to relive the experience just because some busybody in Credence decides to start asking nosy questions!
At any rate, in the grand scheme of things that was a relatively minor annoyance for me, and hopefully more of the story about Arlo and Della's father will be revealed in a future book (possibly starring Arlo and Della's friend Winona, whose sometimes tense relationship seems like it would be interesting to explore). I hope Tucker and Arlo's friend Drew will be getting a book of his own, too. He was just as much fun here as he was in the earlier books of the series. I always enjoy his efforts to come up with less off-putting names for the funeral business.
Overall, I would recommend "Asking for Trouble" for fans of contemporary romance and look forward to the next book in this series.
*ARC provided by the publisher via NetGalley. All opinions expressed are my own.
Asking for Trouble is the third title in the Credence, Colorado series, and this one is full of laughs, some unintentional since I often laughed at Tucker’s response to Della’s shenanigans. It’s also full of growing, trusting, and living life once again as Della steps beyond the initial healing of leaving her abusive marriage behind and starts to look to her own future happiness. It’s such a combination of amusing, sadness, learning to spread hesitant wings, and falling in love with the good guy, the kind of guy Della needed in her life. Watching Tucker slowly go beyond she’s a fragile piece of glass or she’s his best friend’s sister to allowing his feelings for this amazingly brave woman to show through all the rest was pure joy for me. And frankly, if I wasn’t already a bit in love with Tucker myself – the puppy would have been the final touch.
With a secondary cast of characters to make you swoon or laugh out loud (or in my case, giggle-snort at some erm… mature ladies), Asking for Trouble was an emotional story with a real-life feel when needed most, and a fun sexy romantic comedy at other times. It’s hard to put this one in any particular trope for there are actually several here so I stopped trying and simply enjoyed a really good story about two people falling in love and getting beyond the past and on to their future. I’ve enjoyed this series so much and I’m definitely waiting for the next release, it can’t come soon enough for me.
*I received an e-ARC of this novel from Entangled Publishing via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*
Asking for Trouble is the third book in Amy Andrews marvelous small town romance series set in Credence, Colorado. Asking for Trouble plays on the best friend’s little sister trope but with a twist. Della Munroe has only known her older brother for three years, eversince he rescued her from a horrific situation. Now, she’s ready to spread her wings in the dating world again but it seems that the object of her crush seems more interested in being her wingman rather than partner in crime. Tucker Daniels has always looked out for his friend Arlo’s sister since he brought her back to live in Credence. But now he’s starting to feel a little bit more than what the bro code states. Now his friend has decided its best to be her wingman to make sure she’s safe from predatory males. But how does he tell Arlo he has more than just sisterly feelings for Della? Tucker and Della will delight readers with their will they or won’t they romance that starts with Tinder, moves along to sex toys and self gratification, finally to a lot of mutual orgasms and fooling around while trying to fool the town they live in that nothing is going on at all! But Asking for Trouble also deals with domestic abuse and its aftermath and what it takes for one woman to take her sexual agency back and keeping the one man that’s really worth keeping.
