I loved reading how Tucker was truthful with Della about guys and dating especially when he liked her. Della wants to date but finds herself in a small town with no one who wants to date her since her brother is the sheriff! When she starts using tender, she asks her brother's best friend to help her navigate it. This was fun and sexy read. Another good read by Amy!
Another fun book by Amy. Even though there are a series of books in the Credence series, they are all stand alone’s. This is about Della and Tucker. This does deal with some abuse issues , so if that is a trigger for you, then I’d pass. Nothing graphic, just an explanation on Della’s past. Della is the sister of the town cop, Arlo. So in the man department is already has a strike against her. Not to mention her past. Tucker is Arlo’s best friend. He needs to stay away from Della, trying to hold up his “Bro code” and an eleven year age difference as well. Due to some life changes, Tucker and Della end up spending a lot of time together. Can they hold off their chemistry to one another and remain friends? There’s some great banter in this book that will make you laugh. We have the old folks home where Della works, always putting their two cents in and the banter between Drew, Arlo and Tucker, not to mention between Tucker and Della. Grab a copy today and enjoy!
** I received a copy of Asking for Trouble from Entangled Publishing and Net Galley in exchange for a voluntary and honest review. My opinions weren't solicited in any way.**
Asking for Trouble by Amy Andrews is the third book in her Credence, CO series. I have to say this right away it was a 8 on the HOT meter so if that's not to your liking then take a pass please. (I loved it) Between the senior citizens especially Ray and Rosemary who had a giggle worthy pre-date conversation with their friends plus the trip to Frieda's Palace with the girls is the best part of the book. I loved Drew who tries his hardest to come up with alternate titles to a mortician. Who knew that vegetables can be used in a suggestive way with a Tinder hook up? Not me that's for sure. All in all I give Asking for Trouble at 4.8 rating and am waiting for Sheriff Arlo's story hopefully soon.
When Arlo rescued his sister Della Munroe three years ago from her abusive husband he never dreamed that asking his best friend Tucker to be her wing man could lead to her having fantasies. Because every one of the new ladies in Credence were probably had the same thoughts of what he'd be like in bed. Tucker reluctantly agrees to escort Della to Denver for her therapist appointment but when she asks him to be her sex "coach", Tinder date rescuer and drivers ed instructor both of them will discover how they really feel about each other. When Della finally tells Tucker that she loves him his first thoughts are that he's too old for her and worried how he'll tell Arlo he's been dating his sister will be the defining point of does he love her or not?
Tucker is running the bar in Credence after his father passed plus learning how to make fruity drinks for the new ladies who have moved to town has kept him on his toes. So when Della walks into the bar and asks about how to find a date on Tinder can he really be her wing man without wondering if she'd date him. He'll be exactly what Della needs a compassionate sounding board as she explores their mutual feelings for each other.
Thank you @entangled_publishing for gifting me an ecopy of this in trade for my honest opinion!
I'm gonna start out by saying that this cover cracks me up! It's not something I would typically read, but I had to find out what "Mr Howdy Ma'am" was all about. My Bestie and I have been in a few giggle fits thanks to this book. It's memorable and I love it!
Della is a domestic/sexual abuse survivor. She married the wrong man and paid dearly for it. Until a brother she didn't know she had showed up to rescue her. He pulled her out of the abuse and took her to his tiny hometown to start facing her demons. 3 years and a lot of therapy later, she feels she is ready to try dating again. She has needs dammit.
With the help of her longtime friend, Tucker, she downloads Tinder and vows she will just have some fun. Tucker agrees to be her wingman and help her weed out the weirdos. Tucker drives her to Denver on Friday nights for these dates and waits across the street in case she needs him. Seriously the biggest sweetheart on the planet! Mr Howdy Ma'am is a studly gentleman.
Of course while helping her through all of this, they fall in love with each other but neither is willing to take it any further. Such is the conundrum of Della and Tucker.
That being said, I loved this book! I love that Della is a fighter. I love that Tucker is such a patient man. I love that Arlo reminds me of Charlie from Twilight. I love Rosemary cause she's freaking hilarious. This book brought more than a few laughs and had me turning pages pretty fast through some parts. It's just the right amount of steamy and real.
Although this book is part of a series, it works nicely as a standalone story so don't worry if you haven't read the previous books in the series.
This author is very gifted; the dialog seemed very natural and the characters were believable & likable.. However, I found the descriptions of the heroine's previous abuse and the sex scenes to be too detailed and long which resulted in a bit of sluggishness in the book. However, I enjoyed the story and will read others in the series.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.
Asking for Trouble by Amy Andrews was an okay story. The main characters were well developed and likeable. I appreciated and understood the storyline, but the pace of the story was very painfully slow for me. I found myself skimming forward to get through the fact that they liked each other but neither was able to make a move for way too long. I felt that many parts could have been cut out to get to the meat of the story. I enjoyed it more once these two quit dancing around each other and became romantically involved.
I absolutely loved it all!
Della's been in Credence for 3 years now, after having been rescued by her unknown half brother, Arlo. She's been laying low, doing her therapy, both at a therapist's office and rather unknowingly, at Lumberjack's or Jack's, the local bar owned by Tucker, who she's spent a lot of evenings talking to and has a secret crush on.
She's now decided she needs to start dating, so she goes on Tinder, of all sites. This is giving her brother apoplexy, and somehow Tucker gets nominated to be her wingman. It just gets better and better. There's definite heat here, and it's oh, so good!
Tucker is attracted to Della, but he's got bro code brain, so he's really trying to be a gentleman here, plus he really does respect and admire Della. His little head vehemently disagrees with this, and it's a constant enjoyable battle. Especially when Della decides they need some therapy of the physical kind!
This is a small town with all kinds of wonderful, lovable, crazy characters with just as much advice to be given, bc ya know, small towns are not known for minding their business.
A fantastic read that has humor, subtle or bust a gut throughout, even with a few serious triggers, not dwelled upon, but more like pushing past them, on the lovable journey that is Della and Tucker's.
A true RomCom, fast paced and easy to read, from the beginning to the end, it leaves quite the impression. You can happily lose yourself in this one.
A complete stand alone with a very HEA, it is part of a great series too.
I received an ARC compliments of #EntangledPublishing through #NetGalley and am giving my honest thoughts and opinions freely!
This story needs some work. The two main characters are hard to like, I understand that there is a history of abuse, but the plot drags. There are good spots that save the romance, but seriously, some of this is like teen angst. Ok read.
Amy is an excellent writer. You can feel the characters emotions as they're happening and she adds just enough steaminess to keep you turning pages.
Asking for trouble is part of the Credence, Colorado series but it can be read as a standalone. I haven't read the previous books in the series and I had no trouble getting in to this world.
Della was in an abusive relationship that ended three years ago. Since then she is building her life again, living in a new city, getting a job and now she is ready to take another big step, she is ready to date. The only problem is that she doesn't know where to start.
That's why she turns to Tucker, the bartender at the local bar and her brother's best friend for help. Even if the more he helps her navigate the dating world, the more she wants to date him.
Tucker is older than Della and his friendship with her brother prevents him from taking their relationship in to the next level, no matter how tempted he is.
I love the brother's best friend trope, it is always so fun to watch them resist, especially Tucker, he had a difficult time seeing Della on dates and helping her while keeping his distance. He was very respectful of her past and he made her wishes a priority.
Della was very terminated to get her life back, she was very strong and passionate about what she wanted and she went after it. She made a decision to move on and she didn't let her past dictate her future.
*I received an arc from the publisher through Netgalley.
I really need to start reading more of Amy Andrews's book because I really enjoyed "Asking for Trouble", it was a great romance story to escape for a few hours from these crazy times.
The heroine, Della is trying to taking her life back after her difficult past and dating is a thing she wants to take control of, so she enlists the help of her brother's best friend, Tucker as her wingman. I liked Tucker a lot! how protective and caring he was of Della, it was very sweet; as you can expect both of them will have to deal with their feelings and attraction for one another. Putting the love story aside, I do want to say that I found Della's journey to overcome her past and her overall determination, quite inspiring.
This is a bit of a slow burn but it's totally worth and you definitely get some steamy moments. It has a nice, fluid pace and well written characters; this story deals with abuse but kudos to the author in how she decided to portray that, and it made me root even more for these characters.
Sweet, sexy, romantic, uplifting. Would totally recommend.
This is the third book in the Credence Colorado series. Della arrived in Credence three years ago after a brutal marriage, where she survived sexual abuse. It has taken a lot of love from her brother Arlo, and a lot of therapy, but she is now ready to get on with her life. She asks her brother’s best friend Tucker to be her “wingman” navigating through Tinder. Of course, Tucker and Della have feelings for each other, but are afraid to admit it. Tucker and Della are both very likable characters, and getting to their happily ever after was enjoyable. I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley for my honest review.
Asking For Trouble is a fantastic contemporary romance by Amy Andrews. Ms. Andrews has provided readers with a well-written book populated with a stellar cast of characters. Kudos to Ms. Andrews for dialog and humor she wove through this story. Della has decided it's time to find a man and is joining Tinder. She enlists her brother's best friend, Tucker, to be her wingman. Della and Tucker's story is packed with drama, humor, sizzle and is a fun read. I enjoyed this book from cover to cover and look forward to my next book by Amy Andrews. Asking For Trouble is part of the Credence, Colorado Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book that I received from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Just loved reading this book!
Della has been living in a small town with her brother for three years since her abusive husband was jailed, then murdered in jail. Della's brother Arlo is a great guy with a knight in shining armor complex and, that's fine. Problem is that Della is finally ready to move on with her life.' Other problem==Della wants to move on with Arlo's best friend, Tucker!!!
Tucker has had a crush on Della since he first met her but, he will never act on that because she's his best friends' sister!!! Can't break the bro code!!!. Two people who both have crushes on each other. One who wants her friend' to help her find a date and when that doesn't work out, help her to explore her sexuality!!!
The other who considers himself a saint in constant pain because he's trying to do the right thing!!
Some of the scenes in this book are absolutely hilarious and, some just wrapped these characters around your heart!
A fun and exuberantly sexy romance set in the tiny town of Credence Colorado, where all the guys are hot. So you know going in that there won't be too much realism to buzzkill the fun.
Though Della's background (hinted at all the way through, then revealed late in the book) is grim enough, but Andrews deals deftly with it. There is enough at the start to set up the Little Sister of the Hero's Best Friend trope. Della, severely traumatized, is twenty-five and ready to venture into the world of romance. The problem is, she's had her eye on Tucker, her cop-brother's bestie, who has been bending himself into pretzels trying to regard her as just a little sister.
So she decides to try on-line dating, and also to visit a sex shop. And she talks about it at the retirement home where she works, where an outspoken grandma speaks with the bluntness of those who got used to seventies "tell it like it is." So when it's time to visit the shop, along comes grandma.
After a couple of disaster dates, Della is determined to practice kissing with Tucker, and we know how that's going to go because this is a romance. The fun is in watching it all happen, punctuated by some hilarious conversations about sex toys, and some trenchant observations about how the elderly are not dead below the collarbones, nor should younger people expect them to be.
A fun book.
Ok I officially love this series. This was very much a woman on fire book. Della has been recovering in Colorado after escaping from an abusive husband, and father in law. She is learning to speak her mind, and explore all the things she missed. Including Tinder.
While she is getting her feet wet her brother Arlo has enlisted Tucker his best friend to watch over her. Tucker becomes her wingman to teach her what to watch out for, and to help her pick her dates. She is strickly off limit as her brother's best friend but when she offers up a no strings "sex education" he struggles to resist. Problems is he has been interested in her for awhile but can he really do it and not fall for her.
So many sweet moments, lots of sexual chemistry, and a sex crazed grandma who speaks candidly for some laugh out loud moments.
4 Star Review Asking For Trouble (Credence, Colorado #3) by Amy Andrews
Amy Andrews is a relatively new author to me and I have to ask myself why that is. This is Della Munroe and Tucker Daniels’s story and was heart warming.
Having been rescued from an abusive marriage, Della is finally ready to step back in to the dating game, unfortunately for her, she is not doing a good job in picking her dates and that’s when Tucker decides to step in and keep her safe.
I love small town romance and Asking For Trouble certainly made for entertaining reading. It was wonderful to see Della finally come into her own and I loved how protective and caring Tucker was. The secondary characters were great and I am looking forward to reading their stories.
There was humour and fun with a whole lot of feel good moments. I really l admired Della, she has a strength and determination to grow and learn from her past and I really wanted her to get the happily ever after that she so deserved.
I received a copy through the publisher from Netgalley.
Asking for Trouble tells the story of Della Munroe, who three years after her half-brother, Arlo, rescued her from an abusive marriage, is working on getting her life back. She is going to therapy, she's moved out of her brother's house and she's joined Tinder so she can hopefully experience some of the things that her ex robbed her of.
Arlo's best friend Tucker Daniels, owns Lumberjack's Bar and has been someone that Della has trusted since she came back to Credence. When Della encounters a disastrous first date on Tinder, she enlists him to give her pointers and basically be her wingman.
When the two share a drunken kiss, things take a drastic turn when Della asks Tucker to teach her the finer points of sex and dating. She knows that he'll respect going slowly and if she needs to stop because she's been triggered, he would get that too. Will these two who have secret feelings for one another really be able to sleep together and then all of a sudden be done?
I enjoyed this story and I liked how sweet and tender Tucker was with Della. He understood what had happened to her in the past and he had the right attitude and demeanor to be with her. I liked that Della was strong and she worked her way back when things could have gone the other way for her. I really hope that we get Arlo's story - I'm very intrigued by what that could offer!
**I voluntarily read an early copy of this title courtesy of NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review**
I love these Credence novels. Della & Tucker.s sorry didn’t disappoint me at all. I love the way their relationship develops slowly but with a lot of heat & chemistry. I also thought Amy Andrews handled the topic of abuse in a thoughtful & well researched way. I highly recommend reading this book to see if Della ends up with Tucker or if she will take his advice & go with someone her own age.
What a humerous, sexy/steamy, yet has an underlying serious storyline. Della was in a abusive marriage and her half brother finds her and saves her. After 3 years in his shadow she's ready to find herself and do all the things that she missed in the past. Tucker is the man, and her brother's best friend, who helps her along the way. Definitely can be read without reading the other 2 in the Credence, Colorado series, some characters will show in this book. Good read for a rainy/cold day.
