Funny, twisted, and like watching your favourite guilty pleasure. I enjoyed Lie, Lie Again by Stacy Wise. It was an easy read and even though some things the characters did felt completely unrealistic, I found myself drawn to their antics. Some parts felt a bit drawn out, but overall I had fun reading this one.

I liked this book- it isn't really a psychological thriller, but there is some mystery involved, and I'd say it was more like domestic suspense. I didn't really feel like the synopsis accurately depicted what the book was really about. That being said, it was an interesting read that kept me engaged. It starts off with the body at the bottom of the stairs, but the rest of the book goes back a couple of weeks and leads back up to that. So the reader knows that someone died but does not know who it was until the end. The chapters alternate between Riki, Embry, and Sylvia, who all live in the apartment complex and are all at different stages of their lives and worrying about different things. They basically became friends because they were neighbors and not because they had a lot in common, but that seemed believable to me.

The character development was pretty good, though it did take some time to understand where each was coming from, though I never truly understood Sylvia. The story does start off a little slow but picks up quickly after the first quarter or so when you realize who everyone is and how it fits together. I found the end to be satisfying as well- while it didn't tie up loose ends neatly, it gave you enough to go on about what might happen next.

Overall, I'd recommend the book and would encourage those who didn't get into it immediately to continue reading. Thanks to Netgalley for providing me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This was a wonderful novel that I had a great time reading. The way the writer depicted the characters will strike a chord with many of the readers, and the story will draw everybody in. Highly recommend this novel.

Three women live in the same apartment complex, but with very different lives. Everyone has a secret, ranging from the benign to misguided. The characters are all well done, as you can definitely identify with one or more. One is wholly unlikeable, but she adds to the mix. The owner of the building has recently passed, and in the midst of their own secrets, they're facing whether their home will remain standing, or if the owner's son will sell. To top it all off, someone ends up at the bottom of the stairs. This was a quick, but really interesting book, and I highly recommend Lie, Lie Again. I really enjoyed this book. It seemed to pack a big punch in a short amount of time. The characters were well developed and the plot had a little of everything. Very enjoyable read

A bit slower paced than I was anticipating, based on the description. I was hoping for more action but it was drawn out. Sylvia's character had the most substance, where Embry was more of the typical mom character.

This was not what I expected and I loved it! I thought this would be a fast paced thriller but it was a really slow paced, character focused narrative with enough mystery to keep you reading on. Of the three women, I enjoyed Sylvia’s story the most as it had the most twists and drama. I guessed who the body was, I think most people will, but I was surprised by how it came to be at the bottom of the stairs. The writing was very descriptive and really brought the story to life. Would definitely recommend if you enjoy a slower paced mystery that’s more literary fiction than thriller. Looking forward to reading some other novels by this author, one of my favourite reads so far this year.
