Small Plates and Sweet Treats is a great book with some incredible recipes. The photography is stunning and it really transports you to another place, making you want to run to your kitchen to try every recipe with the turn of each page.

Unfortunately, because most recipes contain multiple gluten-free ingredients, cooking the recipes can get pretty cost prohibitive. As someone who cooks GF, I'm very accustomed to the increased cost of ingredients for most recipes, but the specialty ingredients used throughout this book would make this more of a weekly recipe or special occasion go-to.

Even though I don’t see myself using this book regularly, there’s something to be said of Aran’s pastry background and cooking practices. It’s quite a difficult thing for a recipe to succeed in creating food where you can’t distinguish whether it’s gluten-free. The recipes here do just that!

If you love beautiful cookbooks, or like me, like to read them, and you don’t mind a bit of an ingredient expense, I would absolutely recommend this book!
