This was cute little disney inspired story. The story of the mice in Cinderellas castle is a unique one. andI am glad I read it.

The tie to Cinderella here is barely tangential. The Cinderella characters are mentioned often but they don't really have any bearing on the plot. This book is more closely related to the Redwall series with it's magical quest to discover the secrets of a legendary order of protectors.

I loved this book, even as an adult! It was a charming tale that I almost read in one sitting. I liked the characters and the story had some novel aspects that kept my attention.

I enjoyed this fresh take on a Cinderella retelling. I enjoyed getting this retelling from the point of view of one of CInderella's mice friends. Which gives you a whole different point of view.

Delphine is an orphan and a talented seamstress. She was left with Cinderella’s household as an infant with a human-sized sewing needle When the mouse princess requests Delphine’s services, a new adventure begins. Rats, Legends, unlikely friend, and magic abound in her new life filled with danger and mystery. The characters are likeable and engaging. The plot is well written and will appeal to fans of mystery and adventure. Readers who like fantasy, animals, mystery, and adventure will enjoy reading this book. 3 stars, Grades 4 to 8.

Delphine and the Silver Needle by Alyssa Moon is an excellent novel that has action, adventure, magic, creativity, and a wonderful plot.

Delphine is an ordinary mouse in a lovely rustic home with a predictable life. She helps with the baby mice and cooks and cleans with the others living in Chateau Desjardins. At night, she pursues her passion of sewing while the favored human of the mice, Cinderella, also works in the room below her sewing nook. While she has no clue as to where she comes from except for a human sized needle that hangs above her bed, Delphine and her adoped mother live simply but happily.

However, her life is shaken out of its routine when Delphine receives a request from the princess to make her a dress for the upcoming ball. While there, Delphine discovers, with the help of a noblemouse Alexander, that her needle resembles one used by a magical race of mice known as the Threaded that were believed to be long gone. Her explorations into finding the truth of where she came catches the attention of the king of the rats, King Midnight, and Delphine are thrown into an adventure to save the kingdom from King Midnight's quest for power and discover who Delphine truly is.

This book was so lovely to read, and I was thoroughly hooked from the beginning and seemed to be a mix of Brian Jacques "Redwall" books and a Disney movie.. From the adorable characters to the beautifully described monastaries and castles, I enjoyed going on the journey with Delphine and Alexander and look forward to reading the second book to find out the answers to the questions this book left off with.

I had a great time reading this book. When I first heard about it, I had no idea it took place in the Cinderella story. We see a few familiar characters show up, and learn all about an amazing hidden world. Once Delphine learns a shocking secret, she decides to go on a quest to find some answers. She has a traveling companion join her, and at first she isn’t excited about it. Yet as their journey moves along she is glad this mouse joined her. As this tale comes to a close, it is clear this journey is far from over.

# Delphine and the Silver Needle is a # Disney book. That alone tells you your in for treat. Author # Alyssa Moon has written a fun story for all ages. Taking place in Cinderella's castle.

This was cute. A little dark here and there, but for the most part it was an adventure story and a bit of a friendship story, as well. Delphine is a likable but imperfect heroine and Alexander is just a doll. I was a little disappointed by the very cliffhanger-y ending, but I enjoyed the book and I'm glad I read it. I will most likely read the sequel.

Delphine and the Silver Needle was such a cute book that brought to life the mice that played such a pivotal role in the story of Cinderella. However, this also introduced Delphine and her story as well. I was so shocked that this book was being released because I have always loved the mice from Cinderella and always wanted to experience their stories. Delphine's character shows the grit and gut of an amazing protagonist as the story is told and you fall in love with her immediately. I absolutely would use this book for a summer reading project or over winter break for students. Thank you for writing a great novel.

Delightfully charming expansion of Cinderella's kingdom. My love of The Secret of NIHM drew me to this novel, and was delighted to find a treasure trove of characters populating this story, mystery pulling me deeper, and the charm of these little anthropomorphic creatures- ala Redwall- will bring me back for any future stories!

Cinderella meets Redwall in this adorable, easy-to-read but engaging story. If you have someone who loves the story of Cinderella this is great for them, but it definitely is in the vein of Redwall, Avi's Poppy, and The Secret of NIMH. Cute little critters acting as brave heroes is a weirdly specific genre that we need.

We follow Delphine. Who is an orphan mouse, Her love for sewing causes her to uncover some big mysteries. Uncovering the truth and magically history.

Adorable story adding to Delphine from Cinderella. The story doesn’t touch on Cinderella but it does add to the world. Which I absolutely loved, I enjoy stories within the same world. My children got a kick out of the fact it was from Delphine’s as they love all the little side characters.

Definitely for anyone who loves Disney. Also great for all ages.

If you are looking at this book with the hopes that it focuses primarily on Cinderella, you’d best look elsewhere. Instead, Alyssa Moon gives readers a look at a much smaller portion of Cinderella’s kingdom that is often overlooked, that of the mice. We see their little kingdom that mirrors that of the humans, with a ballroom inside a chandelier and its own system of nobility. Moon’s debut novel Delphine and the Silver Needle pays homage to and is respectful of the original Cinderella film while at the same time creating a new world and set of characters for readers to explore.

Our main character and protagonist, Delphine, is an orphaned mouse who was left on the doorstep of a commoner in the mouse kingdom and later adopted. She was found with a silver human-sized needle. Later in the story, it is revealed she has become a seamstress and is invited to make a dress for the mouse princess. While at the castle, she makes new friends and later discovers that the needle she was abandoned with is connected to the story of the Threaded. This inspires a drive to discover more about her past, and Delphine and her new friend Alexander embark on a quest to unearth more about her past and her connection to the legendary group. Things may not be as easy as Delphine thought though, as the villainous rat King Midnight has directed his followers to bring Delphine’s needle to him no matter the cost.

This was an enjoyable, cute read that would be great for readers of any age. The storyline was mysterious, intriguing, and well-paced. Fans of Cinderella will enjoy the appearances of characters from the original story (I don’t want to give specific mentions so as to avoid spoilers). The overall message that no challenge is too big to overcome, no matter your size is something universal that everyone could benefit from. There is a cliffhanger at the end of this book, but it sets up the events of the sequel well.

Delphine knows very little of her past. She just knows that she appeared on the steps wrapped in a robe and with rusted human size needle. Delphine loves to sew and design and has always enjoyed hearing stories about the Threaded. A group of seven mice who had magical needles and were known through out the land for their talents in sewing and magic. When Delphine is asked to come to the palace and to design a dress for the Queen, she meets the noble mouse Alexander who shows her tapestries which depict the history of the Threaded. Delphine and Alexander embark on an epic journey that takes them to a monastery, has them befriend a cat, and tests their strengths and weakness all while running from the evil rat King. Will Delphine find out who she is? What is so important about the needle that was left with her when she was a baby? Can she find out all these answers and keep the mouse kingdom safe from the rats or will her looking into her history cause the rocky peace between mice and rats to crumble?

Over all Delphine and the Silver Needle is a fast paced read for children. I love how there are Cinderella references twisted into Delphine's tale. They are perfectly placed and do not take away from the story. Delphine is a strong character who is determined to find out who she is no matter what it takes. The only downside to this book is the fact that once things start to finally come together the book ends. Luckily this is only book one so there will be more adventures with Delphine and Alexander to come.

This story follows one of Cinderella's mice who goes off on her own adventure after discovering something new about her heritage, Delphine had no idea about her family since she was left at the front door with no note to be raised by Cinderella's mice. Her heritage brings a new magical mystery to the table

The beginning starts off really strong, it's great seeing the Cinderella characters appear here and there but at a certain point they just don't show up again which is frustrating. I had assumed the story would be entwined with Cinderella's but not really, it goes off on its own at a certain point. I do like the magic system in here though, it's unique.

When Delphine is on an adventure with another character it really starts to slog, it was frustrating to me, considering the first half was so fast-paced and fun to read but the slow traveling wasn't that fun.

Without spoiling too much, I really did like the one character named Corn. Okay, she had a long name but all I could read was Corn and kept calling her Corn as a result. She's really sweet though, I love her.

A fun story, though it has one of my biggest pet peeves with books. The ending isn't remotely wrapped up and it becomes sequel bait. This is just me though, but I hate when the story can't answer any questions and instead leaves it for the next book to deal with. Is this going to be a duology? Trilogy? Who knows! Questions aren't answered in this book, that's for sure! If you're fine with being left hanging off the edge of a cliff then you should be fine, ha.
