This was a good book to read. It's a great resource on the keto diet and how it works. And even better: it gives recipes. I really recommend it for people interested in this diet, but I don't think this diet is for me.

This book felt like so much more than a cook book or a weight loss book. It was inspirational and motivational in all the right ways, but with a personal insight that you don't always get. I don't follow a keto diet myself, however, I have several friends that do and have been interested in learning more. This book really did help to educate me more about the keto lifestyle and why it works for so many people.

I requested this book, but was unable to download it prior to the archive date and therefore cannot leave my own review. However, from all the reviews I have read, it looks like a book I would recommend to others and will be buying a copy for myself.

Christine Carter does an excellent job of being relatable to her audience, and providing hope. She explains how she fumbled around with the weight loss industry for years, and failed through no fault of her own. She breaks down her version of the keto diet, and explains it in simple terms that are easy to understand. I have been following the weight loss industry for 40 years, and I personally didn't have a clue what a macro or micro was, and that alone scared me off before, because no one really explained it, or in such simple terms. I love how she guides you through which things are absolutely necessary to get started. It's a must if you are trying to lose weight regardless of whether you choose to go with keto or another diet plan!

I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.

Weight-loss Hero is a fantastic diet coaching book written by Christine Carr. This book is quite different to other cookbooks as it is a book about the authors oersonal experience with dieting, weight loss, fitness and self-discoveries.
The book focuses on a keto based diet which is explained in avid detail without being boring or written in a preachy way.
I loved reading about Christine's journey and found her very down to earth and likeable.
There are great photos throughout the book and each section is broken down into East to understand and follow chunks.
The recipes are at the back of the book along with an exercise routine and meal plan.

This was an enjoyable book on losing weight the healthy way. There are recipes in the back of the book. My favorite was the suggestions for each meal. A great reference book to help you lose weight.

Christine’s journey is inspiring in Weight-Loss Hero. I appreciate her passion to help others. I appreciated her tips for simple steps she takes when she feels she’s slipping into old habits. She stresses the importance of mental transformation nearly as much as nutrition which is so important. Workout plans, meal plans, shopping lists, restaurant options for both fast food and sit-down dinners. This book has it all! The recipes look delicious and I look forward to trying some. Many of which caught my eye include the Keto Hot Chocolate, Taco Soup, and Cheesy BBQ Bacon Meatballs, and Keto Chocolate Chip Cookies!

Thank you, Thomas Nelson and NetGalley, for a copy in exchange for an honest review.

Why is weight loss such a consistent problem

Posted on March 26, 2021 by michellelovatosbookreviews, world's first book color commentator, book reviews with a twist

When Weight Loss Hero author, Christine Carter says she lost 150 pounds by first changing the way she thought about weight, as well her own worth, I was excited to see a diet book with a reasonable, solid approach. Carter claims that easing her internal weight-control monster was founded on learning how to nourish her mind and body.
I believe that. I know that to be true. I lost 155 pounds in 2004-5, 60 pounds in 2011, and 75 pounds in 2020-21. Yo-yo, yo-yo, yo-yo.
But the caution I offer for this book is Carter’s method of weight loss. I’m not anti-keto. I’ve read a dozen keto cookbooks and pilfered scores of recipes I used and modified to satisfy my own nutritional needs.
But, with this book, and every other diet book on the market, creating realistic expectations and health goals must include an open-minded understanding that our fingerprint biologies are different.
It’s dangerous to one-size-fits-all the idea of weight loss. It doesn’t work. That’s why the diet industry remains one of the most lucrative book publishing industries in the nation.
Carter lost her weight using the Keto diet. And as I mentioned in previous reviews, if I followed the high-fat diet this diet supports, I’d be dead well before my time. I have a familial cholesterol problem and I have to watch that level closely. Without a doctor’s inquiry, I would not have known that important fact, leaving myself wide open to self-harm with the keto plan of high fat and high protein.
There are things to learn from diets that don’t necessarily work for every person, and that is the nutritional make-up of some of the specialized diet recipes and meal suggestions CAN be helpful IF the reader trying a diet’s method has a body that will respond well.
I’m not a medical expert. I’m just a yo-yo. But I have at least 45 years of experience trying to keep my weight under control, and I know how it’s done – for real.
Individually, intelligently and with a sober, steady, doctor-aware, marathon approach.
Carter shares her inspiring story in Weight Loss Hero: Transform Your Mind and Your Body With a Healthy Keto Lifestyle. She lessened her anxiety, minimized her depression, and reduced her dependency on prescription drugs during her journey. She learned the lesson that true, and lasting change comes from closeting the thought of rules and regulations for daily eating, and picking up the excitement to be found in new activities and life opportunities.
I agree. As a person who participated in Brown University’s 10-year long-term weight-loss program, and still rose and fell with my weight as my emotional life tanked and rose, I offer serious caution.
According to WebMD, in 2020 the US News and World Report named the Mediterranian Diet best for the third consecutive year. Which, by the way, means nothing if your mind or body rejects this way of eating.
I take pieces of this, pieces of that. I choose things that work for my body, and things that won’t harm my long-term well-being. To that end, Weight Loss Hero offers more than 50 original recipes worth a serious peek.
Is my third large weight-loss success the long-term charm? I hope so. I think so. But I’m not so foolish as to think that my next 50 years will be any less challenging than the first 50. In my case, I’ve eliminated the stressor most prolific in inspiring my diet flip-out choices. But I am in the same boat you are with the daily challenge of what to put in my body, how to nourish my mind and soul.
I wish you well, Christine Carter, in your efforts to share your message through Weight Loss Hero. And I wish you well, reader, in your challenge to blaze the highly-personalized path you need to take to achieve your goals.

I thought this was a great book. It was very motivational because I can relate to the author, who also has struggled with weight loss. I like that she was vunerable and really open about her journey. It helps knowing someone who has tried and failed so many times with fad diets has had success with a keto lifestyle. I also thought that most of the recipes included sounded delicious, I only wish there were more but I understand and appreciate the repetition as well. I also loved that there is a meal plan to follow. That makes following through so much easier.

I have owned and read many books on the keto lifestyle, but until I read this book, I was not completely sold on making changes. This book was a lifesaver for me. Christine breaks down the changes you need to make into very manageable steps. I was able to incorporate her suggestions to achieve my own personal success. Thank you Christine!

I really enjoyed this book! She begins about taking about her own weight loss journey. Then she talks about the steps she took to get where she is today!! It is a great book especially if you are struggling to loose weight. It reminds me of a class I took in college called Weight Loss and Eating Behaviors. Which focused on self love and mind set. She also talk about involving God! Which is so important to losing weight. I would recommend this book to anyone who is struggling to loose weight. Happy Reading! 🥰
*I gave is one less start because I thought it would be more of a Cook book then what it was! Still a great book!

Christine Carter is a health-coach who gives her personal account of her struggle with losing or maintaining weight-loss. She tells how she lost 150 pounds through the keto style of eating but mainly by changing the way she thought about her self and learning her own self-worth. I loved her personal accounts of her struggles and successes in changing the way she thinks about how food impacts our lives. This is the first time I had heard of the author but I really enjoyed her first-hand account & her input. Great book!

I would like to thank NetGalley and Zondervan for an advanced of this book in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

I have been looking for a good book about weight loss and this one was perfect. For years I have dealt with the yo-yo diets because I could never commit to just one. After reading this book it has come for me to give keto a try. I have major food allergies and one of them happens to be to wheat. I am going to give keto a try especially since I have this allergy to wheat. If you are someone who is looking for a great book about weight loss, give this one a try. It can't hurt right? I was given an advance copy via ebook to provide my review.

Some interesting recipes. Takes keto plan into parts basically - like getting started, how it is set up and so on. Some plans and the recipes to go with it. Good for those who want a mix of recipes and information about the keto plan/diet.

This book was very personal and so much more than just a cookbook. This was a vey personal look at self discovery and learning to take control of your life on meal and one day at a time. It was both inspirational and motivational and I am so glad I decided to read it. I initially picked this because I dabble in Keto. And dabble uses the term lightly my family doesn't support the plan and me dieting for that matter so eating healthy and learning to follow a Keto lifestyle or even a relatively healthy eating plan has always been a struggle.

This book really helped me understand why it works for so many people and why I can still follow this even if my family eats other foods.

I really enjoyed everything about this book and think it is a wonderful addition to any kitchen and even if you don't eat Keto I believe that you can find healthy recipes in this book. Christine Carter is incredibly honest about her struggles and I find her very inspiring. This book is open, honest and real totally worth the read even if you don't want the recipes!!

I received this book from NetGalley and Thomas Nelson: GIFT for an honest review.

Thank you to Netgalley and the Publisher for my digital copy in exchange for an honest review.

I requested this book because every now and then, I flirt with the idea of trying the Keto Diet. I have known some people personally who have tried it and lost weight so I am interested but the other side of me is also interested in becoming a vegetarian or at least eating less meat. This book was a great book, though, in that it was easy to read and very informative without being preachy. I loved that this was someone's own personal insight into having tried the diet and having great success with it. We learn what she tried, what worked, what didn't, and the mortifying things that happened to her to make her even try the diet. This is a book that would be perfect for beginners(or even people that have been doing it for awhile) as Christine includes lists, pictures, recipes, and so much more. Many of the recipes are ones that look so easy, I will have to give them a shot myself. :) While I did love the many pictures, all but one of them was her presently. I would have loved to see more pictures of the "before" keto diet.

I have read quite a few books in this genre and I must say this is a good one. It covers all of your bases I mean body type, habits, exercise and recipes. I can tell this is book written with knowledge and love. I am so glad I picked this one!

Weight-loss herons more than just a diet book. Christine truly understands the how being overweight is about more than food. I really saw a lot of my same thoughts and feelings when she talked about her journey. Another thing I loved was that Christine was non-judgmental and didn't preach/talk down to those of us that still needed help to get going on our weight-loss story. I liked how she broke the diet into phases. It will definitely make it easier to stick to the program since it isn't too much as once. The recipes look delicious. I've already started following Christine on Instagram, and am looking forward to getting my own copy of weight-loss hero.
