This cute little flame shares a very big feeling: anger. A great introduction to the topic for children.

Though this book is cute, it's too short to really be helpful for little ones dealing with anger, However, it is a good discussion starter and as advertised, it is a good introduction to the feeling of anger. I appreciated the page of tips at the end of the book on what to do when you feel angry.
It's brightly colored and as a board book it is appealing and attractive to little ones. If you're looking to introduce the concept of feelings to toddlers, this would be a good book to start with.

What a great illustrated concept book about the anger emotion. The flame character is a great visual for children to see to help "see" anger and the simple explanations are perfect for toddlers and up to start to understand emotions. I also love how it gives some examples of how to recognize what anger feels like in your body as well as ways to calm down to bring the anger under control.

Not only does this book do a great job with describing what anger is and how it feels, it does a great job with the emotional regulation portion. The pictures are vivid and expressive. It would be a great addition to a library or personal collection!

I always enjoy a book published by DK! We have several of them that our kids really enjoy. This one was a great book for younger elementary kids! My nine year old even enjoyed it. I especially liked the brightly colored illustrations.

Not As Good As Others in Series

I have read some other board books by the publisher that are meant to help children understand and work with their happy and difficult emotions. I thought the others were fairly well done, first describing what the emotion is and why it can come about as well as what to do if it is a difficult emotion (or how to enjoy it if it is positive). I felt like this book missed the mark in comparison, unfortunately. The way the author describes how the brain and body react to anger seemed convoluted to me, and even somewhat repetitive from what was just stated. I think the chain of action and reaction isn't quite accurate based on what I learned in nursing school, and it is written confusingly. Since this is a board book, aimed at very young children I would imagine, it seems odd to number the steps of what to do when you feel angry at the end. Numbering, too, suggests an inherent step-by-step order, which isn't really accurate in this case. This book may help you broach the topic of anger with your very young child; I just wish it were better written.

I was lucky enough to receive ebook copies of How Do I Feel? I Feel Angry, I Feel Happy, I Feel Proud, and I Feel Sad by DK Publishings for free via NetGalley. These board books for toddlers and preschoolers would make a great gift set for any child to learn more about feelings. When you think about it, young children don't know what feelings mean, and it might be a little hard for them to understand and interpret what they are feeling. This series does a good job introducing different feelings to a child as well as why they feel that way and things they might do when they feel that way.

The first page of I Feel Angry is similar to the rest of the series, where it states some feelings you might have. The book then explains what anger is and how your brain sends signals to your body that give you the feeling. I like how the book says that it is normal to feel angry, and it can sometimes be a good thing because it tells you when something isn't correct. It's also good because it explains what might happen to your body when you feel angry, and there are steps to take if you think your anger is getting too strong. This is a great book for young children to learn about what anger means, and use the steps to prevent their anger from becoming too strong of a feeling. I think the illustrations are great and informative. They are very bright and related to the colors associated with anger. I Feel Angry would be a perfect book to pull out if a child is acting very angry, so they can associate what they are feeling to their actions and take the necessary steps to calm themselves.

I recommend this series for babies through age 5. Even though a child under 1.5 might not understand completely what you are reading, I think it would still be great to introduce this series to them early. These books are a great introduction to feelings, and I am most likely going to be adding them to my son's board book collection. I hope DK Publishings decides to sell this as a box set because this would make a great gift.

This title is another entry in a series that will help young children to recognize and express their feelings.  The illustrations are pair well with the description of how our body and mind processes our feelings of Anger.

Bright and bold illustrations pair well with simple text that introduce kids to what it means to feel angry, and how our body and mind processes the feelings. Love the "fire" as a the person, good imagery to help children understand anger. Great addition, would be a lovely baby shower gift!

These books are not the only book you will want to help your children learn about their emotions, but they are a great addition to any child's library. The illustrations are bright, engaging and a clear picture of the emotion they are describing. I would by the entire series for my preschooler, my therapy office or my classroom.

An early copy of this book was made available to me by the publisher through netgalley. This is my honest review.

I Feel Angry is a very well done book explaining anger for younger students. The illustrations are cute and developmental appropriate. The language is clear with solid strategies for handling anger. I will consider purchasing this book for my classroom instruction. Thanks DK Publishing and NetGalley for the ARC of this title.

I received all of the series, so many of my reviews will be the same.

The illustrations are extremely engaging, especially for children with ADHD or other attention related disorders. They break emotions down to Kinder levels but are still able to be utilized at least until 2 grade, in my opinion.

A great resource for special education teachers or occupational therapists in teaching children emotions and how to handle them.
