Bette Lee Crosby consistently brings great characters and passionate life lessons to life. As a big fan of Crosby's, her name provokes an automatic one-click from me. I am always entertained. Highly recommend.
I have heard such good things about this book so I hate to DNF. But the story feels very slow and I can't connect to Suzanna. I read 35% and have no connection to the book and it's characters.
Another truly special and heart warming/heart wrenching novel from Bette Lee Crosby. Steeped in Southern charm, this story of lies, trust, truth and forgiveness all tied up into a fabulous story and are exactly what I come to expect from the amazing Bette Lee Crosby. I always feel wonderful after reading her books and this one is no different. I highly recommend Bette Lee to be on your shelf and in your hand!
What happens when you tell a lie and that lie steamrolls into more lies? This is what happens in this book.A very entertaining look at the results .I really liked this story and also have enjoyed other books by this same author. She is great at depicting interesting stories of small-town characters.
When one little lie turns into a tangled web of lies. I really enjoyed this read. I Kept turning the pages, needing to know what lie would be next or how they would navigate any given situation.
Loved this book. Loved Suzanne. Loved all the little twists along the way. Is it okay to lie in some circumstances? No easy answer, but in this case the lies were actually kindnesses.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book. A Million Little Lies by Bette Lee Crosby is a great mix between a suspense and family drama. Perfect read for a day at the beach!

A lifetime of lies, and a truth too painful to tell.
When Suzanna Duff was ten years old, she lost her mama, and that’s when the lies began. At first, they were just harmless little fibs, a way to hide her unbearable loneliness and the truth about a daddy who came home rip-roaring drunk every night. But in time, the lies grew bigger and now, when she is a grown woman with a daughter of her own, they threaten to destroy everything she loves.
The irony of this situation is that Suzanna never planned to stay in Georgia, she was simply passing through, looking for a fresh start in New Jersey. Attending that wake with her daughter Annie, was a fluke. An opportunity to enjoy a free meal. It should have entailed nothing more than a solemn nod and a brief expression of sympathy but, Ida Parker, the grieving widow mistook her for her the granddaughter who was carried off as an infant. Too embarrassed to do anything else, Suzanna played along. What harm was there in pretending to be someone else for a few hours? Hours turned into days and days into weeks; strangers became friends, love happened, and before long a year had flown by.
Now the past is standing on her doorstep and Suzanna must decide to leave here and disappear as she has done before, or tell the truth and break the hearts of those she loves most.
This is the 2nd book that I have read by Ms. Crosby and it did not disappoint.
As the synopsis states, Susannah Duff finds herself in a situation that would keep her daughter safe, however, with it comes many little lies. Even though she tells herself that she will continue this facade for a few more days, it turns into months, which means more and more little lies. The longer she continues the role of Darla Jean, she realizes what it feels to be safe and to love and be loved.
But will she ruin everything if she tells the truth? Will she lose those she has fallen in love with, and more importantly, what will it do to her daughter?
A poignant and heart-wrenching story that tells the story of what it means to be a family. Such a warm and touching read!! I absolutely loved it!!!
Amazing read. I'm a huge Bette Lee Crosby fan, and this one definitely didn't disappoint. Crosby is an auto buy for me, and I was so happy to get to read this one!
A Million Little Lies is a novel by award-winning American author, Bette Lee Crosby. Suzanna Duff and her seven-year-old daughter, Annie have escaped from a toxic relationship in Florida, but in Cousins, Georgia, they face a long delay before the bus to Jersey. Suzanna hasn’t much money and Annie is hungry. There’s a memorial at the Elks Club for William Parker, so they slip in to fill their bellies before finding a spot to sleep.
The grief has hit Ida Parker hard: Bill was her everything, and now she has no family left. So it feels heaven-sent when Darla Jean walks into the memorial lunch. She hasn’t seen their granddaughter since Bill’s son Tommy took his baby away, but Bill was always sure she would return to them one day. Ida introduces Darla Jean around, and insists she and little Annie stay the night: the bus to Jersey can wait.
Suzanna can’t see the harm in indulging the old lady for one night, but doesn’t count on Annie being so thrilled to have a great Grandma, and one night extends into more, until it becomes impossible to leave without breaking hearts: Annie and Ida have bonded so tightly. So they stay. Suzanna feels guilty for lying, but soon realises that telling the truth could hurt more. But if the real Darla Jean turns up…
Crosby easily evoked her 1960 setting, and many of the characters are endearing, although Annie’s birth father does act unexpectedly towards the end. This is a sweet story of love and family and the fact that it’s somewhat predictable and feels a tiny bit contrived doesn’t diminish the reader’s enjoyment.

A Million Little Lies by Bette Lee Crosby is aptly named. Suzanna, the main character, has a rough life starting from the age of ten, when her mother dies and she is left with a alcoholic father. After Suzanna gets pregnant, with no father in the picture, she finds herself having to leave her father’s and move in with a man whom she thinks will protect her but turns out to be abusive.. She must, therefore, again “go on the road” to search for a safe place to land. Her whole life is made up of lies that she must constantly tell in order to protect herself, and her child, Annie.
This is an engrossing novel about finding love in unexpected places, suffering through dysfunctional family life and struggling to find hope in the future. I highly recommend it! It’s quite a ride!

Lies piling up and wanting to tell the truth but afraid. That is how Suzanna is since she was 10 years old after her mom died. Her dad would come home every night drunk. Suzanna has a daughter,Annue, and wants a better life for them. So she sneaks out one night to head to New Jersey bu stops in Georgia for a wake as there was food for them. But the grieving widow mistook her for her husband's granddaughter. Suzanna goes along with it and before she knows it they are staying in Georgia. Suzanna, Ida and Annie starting getting close and now Suzanna's past is coming to their door.
I really liked these characters even though Suzanna lied you knew how she felt and she really wanted to tell the truth and she wasn't lying to get anything from Ida.

A Million Little Lies by Bette Lee Crosby
Once again Bette Lee Crosby shows the reader what “being family” really means. Ms. Crosby has a talent for storytelling. Although it is a poignant and heartwarming story, it is not without its edge-of-your-seat moments and nervous twists. In A Million Little Lies, we are introduced to characters that are floating through their lives feeling disconnected and alone. It is story that grows and develops through a series of assumptions and lies. Susanna Duff and her daughter, Annie are hungry. They see a sign for a Memorial luncheon and decide to attend. A quick in-and-out thinks Susanna. Susanna and Annie accidentally meet Ida Parker at the luncheon that is being given for William Parker, Ida’s husband. Assumptions are made and lies are told. And so the story begins.
This is a well written story that uses not only the present but refers to the past to flesh out the characters’ stories. It gave me a better understanding of the characters’ actions and reactions. The characters themselves are complex with many different layers in play.
I am a staunch fan of Bette Lee Crosby because of the gentle southern charm she brings to her stories and her characters. The stories make you feel. I highly recommend this book. It put me through the wringer but in the end I was happy.

All Suzanna ever wanted, from the time her mother died when she was 10, was a family. A family that was good, kind and loved each other. This was not what she had, so she built a family with a few lies. When fate gave her the opportunity to actually have her longed for family, she told a few more lies. But fate seldom gives you something for free. When Suzanna is faced with the truth of her life, can she face her lies?
A beautifully, evocative book that will make you FEEL for Suzanna and her daughter. You will hope for her future and worry when she must face her lies at her own front door. This was such a good book I was sorry when it ended. My friends are going to love this one.
Little lies turn into bigger lies, and can destroy our wellbeing. Suzanna leaves a bad situation hoping to make a better life for her and her daughter, Annie. She stops in a quaint little southern town and there is a case of mistaken identity. She plays along thinking she’ll leave the next day. But, sometimes life takes a turn we don’t expect.
What a feel good story that will have you rooting for Suzanna from the beginning. This was an easy, heart warming read. Characters are likeable and endearing. Writing is easy and flows nicely. Quick read. Was happy with the way Ms. Crosby handled one situation particularly. Righting a wrong for sure. During these times with so much nastiness, this is a perfect light, just the right amount of drama read!
Thanks to Ms. Crosby, Bent Pine Publishing and NetGalley for this ARC. Opinion is mine alone.
Nice easy going read. Good storyline you can relate too. The book was very well written. Interesting and a big hit.
This was a sweet wholesome read. I love seeing character growth and development. A few things that happened made me cringe but we also had more information given to use as the reader. It was very heart warming.
A lovely heartwarming story of family ties and bonds. You can always count on a Bette Lee Crosby novel to pick you up! This one does not disappoint. If your a fan of her books then this one is definitely worth a fead.
Thank you Bent Pine Publishing and NetGalley.

This is my first book from this author. It was a very sweet story and reminded me of Nicholas Sparks books. The characters were lovable and sweet, and it was a light, refreshing read. I received a free copy of this ebook from netgalley and the publisher in return for an honest review.
