Very touching story about finding yourself, the meaning of family and love. Bette Lee Cosby knows how to write very well and in a way to tug at your heart strings! I lived this story. Her characters were endearing and the plot well thought out. 4 stars! A must read!

Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher and author for an ARC of this book. All opinions are my own.

Bette Lee Crosby writes stories, very wonderful stories, about the down-trodden, those in trouble of their own making and those in trouble of someone else's making.

Suzanne Duff was down-trodden and no matter which way she looked, there were no answers, there was no one to help her, and so she had to help herself. Suzanne is a good person trying to escape her bad situation and take care of her little daughter, Annie.

Suzanne and Annie made their way out of an abusive situation in Florida, and on their way to New Jersey, made it only as far as a little town in Georgia. By then, Suzanne thought her luck was gone. Little did she know that providence would land in her lap.

Sometimes, pretending you're someone you're not is not as bad as it seems, even though you know it's a lie. Living with that lie is better than the life Suzanne had, better than the men who made her life miserable. But soon, she has to decide which kind of life she really wants to live.

I can't imagine giving any of Crosby's books anything less than 5 stars.

I was given an ARC of this story from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Heartbreak and tough experiences cause lies to be told. After telling those lies, each day becomes a chance for a new beginning in life and the possibility of happiness. This emotional and heartfelt story shares the lengths someone may go to in order to have a fresh start in life and love. Another great story by Bette Lee Crosby. I received a complimentary copy of the book. No review was required.

Wow! Such an amazing book!
Bette writes such brilliant stories that highlight the strengths of women and how they come together to support each other. I absolutely loved this book, I found the men’s chapters were so important to the storyline as they embellish it by adding in another layer to the story. I must admit I did feel stressed and nervous when reading their chapters, but only because I had so taken Suzanna to my heart and wanted her not to be hurt by either of the men that had let her down so badly.
At first you are concerned, the lie becomes bigger and bigger, but because Bette writes so well about emotions you feel yourself urging on Suzanna to continue with her new life and role.
I love how Bette has included one of my favourite movies, Miracle on 34th street which has the best line,
“A lie that draws a smile or a truth that draws a tear.”
Which completely sums up what the theme of this books means to me from reading this beautiful story.
Another heartwarming book that completely stole my heart. Some very difficult subjects are dealt with in such an understanding manner, Bette really knows how to get her readers emotionally involved with her characters. A gorgeous book that I adored reading from cover to cover ❤️

A real page turner!

Suzanna has had a tough childhood. And finding herself pregnant at school provides more challenges. When her child’s father makes it clear he isn’t interested, she leans on an older man who doesn’t give her daughter the childhood she dreamed of for her. When an opportunity to live someone else’s life presents itself, what should she do? Her daughter deserves the best, right?

I absolutely loved reading this story. It kept me constantly in suspense, wondering what was going to happen and whether Suzanna’s secret would be discovered. I was torn whether to like Suzanna’s character with all the lies she was telling, but found it hard not to!

I would definitely recommend reading this book. It’s really well written and leaves you wanting to keep reading in case something should happen.

Bette Lee Crosby has done it again—she’s written a tender-hearted book filled with wonderful characters that you are instantly drawn to, and a story that will keep you reading long into the night. In A Million Little Lies, Suzanna Duff sets off to start a new life with her precious daughter, Annie, and one little lie leads to a whole string of lies that threaten to ruin Suzanna’s chance of happiness, family, and home. The story was extremely compelling and heartfelt, with moments that were sweet and endearing; times that were fraught with tension and heartache; but always filled with love and hope.

This book grabbed my heart and emotions from the first chapter. In the beginning Suzanna is ten years old and just lost her mother. To hide the irresponsible, drunk behavior of her Dad, she learned to lie to cover up the truth. She rationalized the lies weren't hurting anyone, but as the years went by, it got easier and easier to manipulate the truth until she was soon living a lie.
A few weeks from graduating from high school, and pregnant, her father kicks her out of the house. She ultimately ends up living with Earl, who is pretty much a carbon copy of her father. By the time her daughter, Annie, is seven years old, Suzanna knows she has to get away and make a better life for herself and daughter. From Florida, they end up in Cousins, Georgia, hoping to continue on to New Jersey.
Suzanna and Annie are hungry and in the train station they see a flyer about a memorial luncheon for a resident of Cousins, so without much money over the cost of a train ticket to New Jersey, which isn't leaving until the next day, Suzanna and Anna walk the few blocks to the luncheon. They receive a warm welcome, being mistaken for someone else.
Eventually Suzanna gets caught up in one lie, to cover up the previous one, even changing her name to keep the facade going. She often convinces herself the lies are to give Annie a better live than she had.
I found myself so caught up in this story, I actually began to feel anxious for Suzanna knowing these lies would catch up with her and that she would face some consequences. She had become so real to me, I was actually worried about her.
This is an amazing story, and once again, Bette Lee Crosby, expertly weaves various situations together, to keep the reader turning the pages to find out what happens next. This is a heartfelt story that stayed with me long after I turned the last page

Bette Lee Crosby has hit it out of the ballpark again! The main characters very much likable, and you can’t help but wish for a happy ending. Suzanne has to go over many hurdles to get what she deserves, and all along you want to help her by telling her things she doesn’t know. My first thought upon finishing this book was “I hope there’s a sequel!!”. Don’t miss this book! I received a copy of this book from NetGalley. All opinions expressed are my own.
