The concept is great and I suspect from the e-arc provided by NetGalley that the finished board book is adorably done. But, the problem for me was the content. I realize it's hard to capture a vibrant city like Austin, Boston, Chicago or San Francisco into a few pages, but if that's what D.K. Publishing says it will deliver, than this effort falls far short of the promise.

My own daughter was bored with these. Not liking the art, too simplistic and computer generated (blobby black stick figures for people), and the narration was too blah. The word choice didn't paint the height of the skyscrapers or the wonky reflection that comes back at you from "the bean." When in came to the boring food section, I wish it took time to describe a deep dish pizza. By the way, an equally bland food section can be found for Boston and Austin, but why not a food section for San Francisco?! Sourdough, crab, etc.?

I was excited by this series, but the product doesn't match my love for these cities. No desire to purchase Little Cities. There are better kid versions out there with my charm.

Thank you to NetGalley and DK Books for an advance reader’s copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This is an adorable book to share with kids to show them the top spots to visit and see in Chicago , Having been there a long time ago, it definitely jogged my memory too!

It includes a map of the US showing the location of the city, a cool map of the city showing where the main sites are in the city and pages of beautiful illustrations including of course the famous Wrigley Field and Cloud Gate, and other sites with little tidbits of information for young children.

This book was just okay. The graphics are pretty bland to me. Thank you to Netgalley for this digital review copy.

This is basically a mini travel book exclusively for Chicago, Illinois. DK Publishing gives readers eight ideas of places to go and things to do during a visit to the Windy City. The illustrations are simple and colorful, mirroring the overall style of the book.

Adorable and bright illustrations add to the text that describes major landmarks of Chicago. This would be a great souvenir or family book to share with a relative that lives far away.

Cute little about for little kids about Chicago. Add this to your cities collection and point out some fun facts about Chicago. As a Chicagoan, I feel like there should have been some more specific facts ( like the food facts). And I’m not sure if it downloaded incorrectly, but it seemed like a very abrupt ending.

Noticed a spelling error on the Navy pier page

I travel to Chicago for work a few times a year, and my kids have wondered what sorts of things I see while I am there. I can't say I've seen a lot besides walking or riding the El past them, considering I'm there for work and don't get much play time, but this gave a good synopsis of what I could see! This is a great book for families who have people who travel a lot, or just for ideas about different cities for kids.

Would love to see one about Montreal!

I received an arc of this title from NetGalley for an honest review. This series is pretty neat and great for kids about large cities in the US with lots of fun facts about each city.

This book is part of a series that shows young children the fun things that can be found in American cities.  In Chicago there is everything from Wrigley Field to the Field Museum and lots of good food including Deep Dish Pizza.  You may not be able to travel right now but you can enjoy a virtual trip to the Windy City.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this title in exchange for an honest review.

I love Chicago! Unfortunately, I didn’t love this book. It lacked creativity or imagination. It was pretty bland for a children’s book. It barely held my attention, let alone a child’s.

A week before the coronavirus outbreak, I thought about taking a trip from my home in Mississippi for a summer vacation in Chicago.

This beautiful little book gave me Windy City wanderlust. I love the illustrations, the colors and the recommendations about the places to visit and the food to eat.

I just wish the book had more pages because I would like to see so much more. That's why I'm giving it four stars instead of five.

Many thanks to DK Publishing and NetGalley for the ARC, and I look forward to the day when I see the book in print.

I absolutely loved these "Little Cities" books, that are geared towards kids and teaching them about some of the landmarks in the city.  I read 3, all of which were cities I had visited and most of the locations listed I had checked out myself, so it was cool to revisit it again in a way, since travel is becoming but a memory.

This book features Chicago - the bean, tall buildings, and more!  A fun way to introduce your child to new cities.

I received a free e-copy of this book in order to write this review, I was not otherwise compensated.

This is a cute enough book and would probably make a good gift for children who don't live in Chicago or for people who are visiting Chicago. I have read many children's books about Chicago and this isn't in my top five. The art is fairly generic and the text isn't inspired. It's fine, I guess, but doesn't stand out.

This is a cute little look at some of the features of Chicago. I think this book is great for young kids to learn about some of the iconic places from Chicago

This was a fantastic little book to read to my little one before our trip to Chicago. There is the perfect amount of information and pictures to introduce some of the top destinations we plan to visit.

A fun introduction to Chicago for your family's youngest reader! A perfect baby shower gift for anyone that enjoys Chicago-culture and wants to pass it along to a baby. Four months and up.

Good little book showing where a city is a few sites to see and a quick introduction. Very quick to get through.

This is a quick illustrated introduction to the city of Chicago. It highlights some of the tourist attractions and includes some interesting facts. Though the illustrations are cute, this reads more like an informational pamphlet than a children’s book, and I have a hard time believing this would be a very entertaining read for a child. The end also felt rushed, and could have used some kind of goodbye.

‘Little Cities’ is a series of board books for the youngest readers about the major US cities. The books focus on the main tourist attractions and landmarks. Illustrations are informative and simple, reminds me of infographics in educational pamphlets.

The ‘Chicago’ book is brief but full of knowledge that fitted into ten pages, it tells about great city’s monuments, famous places and what food is Chicago famous for. It’s a good work to engage children's curiosity about the city.
