Sadly this book just was not for me. This sat on my kindle for quite some time - twice I have attempted to read and twice I did not finish.

Judenrein was terrifying dystopia thriller set in 21st century America run by Neo Nazi White Supremist. It was about white supremacy, fascism, right-wing extremism, Nazism, and terrorism.

Writing was gripping, easy to follow, and to the point. Short chapters made it fast paced and quick read. It was written in multiple third person narrative mainly from main characters’ perspective -Zack and Agent Matthews- and also intermittent secondary characters and villain’s POV.

Book started with a man being shot that made me think who he was and why. Next we are taken back 5 days back from where all story started introducing readers to each characters, their current life and what is going on in America after rise of Pete Kasprzyks and how ex-military neo-nazis were now working in government planning terror attack.

Zack was G battalion’s best Jewish solider, now was on methadone program. He saw Jewish being homeless, jobless, penniless and stateless after rise of Pete and country supporting his ‘88wh1te’ white supremist group while labelling every Jewish terrorist or supporter of terrorist organisation. He didn’t know why he was spared from Jewish hate but when he was found by orthodox Jewish leaders at Detroit compound and was given a mission to find out more about attack, things got worse for him.

Agent Matthews was hedge fund manager who made her way up the rank of FBI. She was put on administrative leave after a mission went wrong but she was given another chance through off the book assignment which was from Colonel Hollis Weld.

Now Weld was the one who orchestrating whole performance of terror attack. But how and when was mystery. I was curious to find out what Weld’s plan was, how her and his men were going to use Zack and Agent Mathews and how they both would discover Weld’s plan and stop it.

Zack was amazing throughout the book. He gave Rambo feel, surviving on his own many harrowing situations and discovering villains’ plan as he went deeper in his mission. His encounter with Matthews were fun to read. Agent Matthews was not sure if Zack murdered her partner or not and how he was involved but when her suspicion about Weld and his junkies were confirmed she started believing Zack. I liked the way she found out the truth and how she helped Zack. They made great duo in book. I wish I could see them more. I liked Zack’s friends Wiggy who was brilliant hacker and Rosenblatt, Zack’s childhood friend living in Jews camp in Detroit.

This was plot driven story. Characters were there to play their role. If you want to connect with characters, you would be disappointed. There wasn’t much background story, only enough information about them to keep the story going and to understand their current situation and mental state. But still they were realistic and I enjoyed reading their part in story and made me root for Zack and Matthews.

World was frightening and yet interesting to read. Jews, blacks, Latinos were rounded up in a camp striped off their rights and citizenship after catalysing crisis and making Jews a threat to nation. White supremist were now planning third phase of Reichsadler with ultimate goal of making America Judenrein (free of Jews) forever and non-white free. I was shocked at seeing these supremist repeating history with their extremely racist view and behaviour.

It was baffling to see people electing a racist president and believing all they said throwing their logic out of window. It was all very prophetic and vividly written with a bit about Jews culture and religion. It made me think can this really happen, can people be that stupid to elect such president and believe every word he says and drive their hate towards particular community in name of patriotism? Answer is simple and terrifying, yes or maybe.

Mystery and suspense were brilliant. I wasn’t sure what their whole plan was. Characters were misled along with reader, were put in situations that made me anxious for them and kept me wondering how the hell they were going to stop the attack.

Events before and after climax were action packed and adrenalin inducing. They made me impatient to read all detail on what characters were doing and how they were carrying out action. I just wanted to reach to important point. End was good but also unbelievable. I’m struggling to believe how they wrapped or rather covered whole thing after Zack and Matthews saved the day.

Overall, Judenrein was powerful, thought-provoking, and fast paced thriller filled with suspense and action packed. I highly recommend this to fans of dystopia thriller.

I really enjoyed reading this book. It was very well written. Interesting and once I started I didn’t want to put it down. I’m not Jewish. So can’t comment from that point of view. But it certainly didn’t stop me enjoying the book.

The book is about is a formerly othordox man.

After leaving the Jewish community he joins the American army and goes off the rails becoming a drug addict in the process.

He ends up being recruited by his old orthodox community to defend the Jewish people against the latest anti semitic threats.

The first half of the story was focused on the background of the anti semitic situation in America whereas the second half became an adventure story.

I found the writing style somewhat boring despite liking the premise of the story. Unfortunately I would not deem this book a page turner.

Terrifying Dystopian Novel About a 21st Century America Run By Neo-Nazi White Supremacists..........


"Judenrein" by Harold Benjamin is a TERRIFYING (and eerily prophetic) dystopian novel that I came across while browsing the Netgalley website for Kindle books available for free in exchange for a truthful & unbiased review. As soon as I saw the title, “Judenrein” which I knew was/is the Nazi-German term for “Jew-free”, I immediately clicked on the link to get more details about this book — and after I read the included blurb, I just knew that I had to get it. Because this novel is, essentially about a modern-day Holocaust in the United States…………………….and I’ve had a DEEP interest in the Holocaust (some relatives have even called it an obsession!) ever since the age of 9 or so, when I saw the concentration camp scenes in "War and Remembrance" (the TV miniseries based on Herman Wouk's novel, "War and Remembrance") and read/skimmed Viktor Frankl's book, "Man's Search for Meaning". In fact, as HORRIBLE as I know that it sounds to say, I’m a HUGE Holocaust buff. The concentration camp scenes in "War and Remembrance" had a profound effect on me, and though it gave me nightmares for awhile (every night for two weeks straight, and frequently [though not every night!] for months), it sparked a deep lifelong interest in that era. As such, I always seem to be drawn to Holocaust-related books and films — and its probably why the title of this novel, "Judenrein" (which was a term the Nazis used to describe an area [village, town, city, country, etc.] that they had cleared of all Jewish people) immediately caught my eye/attention when I saw it on the Netgalley website.

Yet, after years (actually decades!) of reading COUNTLESS books & seeing COUNTLESS movies about the Holocaust, I’m also starting to feel “burned out” by the whole topic/era, becoming depressed & despondent, by all the senseless violence & death not only just during the Nazi era, but actually, ALL THROUGH history, both before that & afterwards, up to the present day, even the present moment — and it makes me despair at how that society seems to have learned NOTHING AT ALL from the Holocaust or any of the other countless genocides over the course of history. Like George Santayana aptly said, “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it”, and unfortunately, that seems to EXACTLY be the case. Because sadly, society is largely controlled by amoral multi-billionaire (maybe even TRILLIONAIRE!) sociopathic family dynasties like the Rockefellers, the Rothschilds, the Bushes, the Kochs & other elites, who massively benefit, not only with massive profits from instigating/provoking wars (and often funding both sides — so that they benefit no matter which way it turns out!) but ALSO by then getting paid handsomely to rebuild those war-ravaged nations. If that weren’t bad enough, via these deliberately-engineered wars, the sociopathic elites also get to expand their power base/empire, through the process of rebuilding, and instituting central banking systems (which they control!) and debt-based fiat currency that keeps the populace of those nations perpetually beholden to them, in lifelong servitude to pay even just the interest on that debt. Meanwhile the banksters and other 1% become richer and richer and the other 99% either remains stagnant, just treading water (in the best case scenario) but unable to get ahead, or gets poorer & poorer!

Even worse, while GENOCIDES continue to be perpetrated around the world, like in Yemen, Darfur, the Congo, Uganda, as well against the Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar, the Uyghur Muslims in China, and the genocide by the Israeli government & military against the Palestinian civilians (because UNLIKE the Israelis, the Palestinians do NOT have a military or tanks, missiles and other arms) in Gaza & the West Bank, the rest of the world largely sits back, doing NOTHING to stop it. In other words, for all the claims of “Never Forget” and clichés like that, clearly society has learned NOTHING from the Holocaust, or ANY of the genocides that came afterwards (like by Pol Pot & the Khmer Rouge in Cambodia, and Idi Amin in Uganda, and those in Kosovo, Rwanda, Sudan, and elsewhere) given the rise of right-wing fascist Hitler-esque politicians globally, including Donald Trump in the US, Boris Johnson in the UK, Viktor Orbán in Hungary, Jair Bolsonaro in Brazil, Vladimir Putin in Russia, Alexander Lukashenko in Belarus, Narendra Modi in India & others — AND the fact that the public has DONE NOTHING about the proliferation of fascist laws and “nanny state” regulations that are dictating every aspect of people’s lives. For example, deciding how people can use their yards & property, controlling what food or drink or other product they can or cannot buy/consume (like banning sales of raw dairy or Kinder Surprise eggs or lawn darts), the government seizing children on the slightest pretext (like parents wanting to get a 2nd opinion about medical recommendations, or letting their preteen kid play alone in their yard for an hour, etc.), and even censorship like the criminalization of oil pipeline & other protests, as well as other human rights violations like mandatory vaccine laws, the proliferation of GMOs & bans on labeling, mandatory fluoridation of the water supply & mandatory 5G. Not to mention, the effects of climate change (because although I’m anti-vaccine, anti-GMO, anti-fluoride, anti-5G and pro-medical freedom, I’m NOT anti-science and I DO believe in climate change and that its man-made!). On top of that, even the ELECTIONS (which are SUPPOSED to be the foundation, the cornerstone, bedrock, and the linchpin, the BACKBONE of democracy!) being TOTALLY RIGGED for AT LEAST the past 2 decades minimum (ever since George W. Bush “won” against Al Gore with voter suppression, “hanging chads” and other FRAUD!) hasn’t been enough to galvanize the population, at least (or especially!) in the United States to coalesce regardless of religious, political and other differences and band together in a MUCH-NEEDED MASS REVOLUTION………………so, clearly mankind is determined to repeat ALL of the atrocities of the past over & over again. Which is why, especially now, with this DELIBERATELY-ENGINEERED (and originally, LAB-CREATED!) coronavirus “pandemic” (or as I & many others consider it, a PLAN-demic!) that personally, I think is the 21st century elites version of the 1930s Reichstag fire, I fear we are on the verge of a global mass depopulationist Holocaust, if its not ALREADY UNDER-WAY!

As such, I’ve been starting to feel “burned out” on the topic of the Holocaust since I’m CONVINCED that we are likely in the midst of ANOTHER, though MUCH WORSE Holocaust — and as just one person on living on disability, I feel so powerless and don’t know what to do & how to stop it!

Nevertheless, when I saw this book on the Netgalley website and read the included blurb, I immediately ordered it. "Judenrein" is a very suspenseful (and as I said earlier, an EERILY PROPHETIC!) dystopian novel about a 21st century United States run by Neo-Nazi White Supremacists in which Jewish people, as well as likely (its not overtly specified, but it seems [to me, at least!] that its implied) African-Americans, Latinos & other minorities/POC are once again confined to ghettos, and in most cases living in poverty, having had all their assets/wealth confiscated and their livelihoods destroyed, and are treated as second class citizens (if not worse!). For example in one passage, a top military official matter-of-factly talks/jokes about killing a Latino boy who had just asked his white daughter out on a date. But he is NOT joking — and rather, its clear he has not only gotten away with that murder of an innocent young man, because in this racist, white Christian-supremacist-controlled society, it is not even considered a crime, but also, is actually ENCOURAGED, or at least sanctioned or condoned. If that’s not bad enough, those at/in the top levels of power & government intend to kill or deport EVERYONE who is NOT white & Christian, from the United States.

Basically, they have come up with a plot (which they call “Reichsadler”) to stage a large-scale terrorist attack (similar to how the Nazis did with the Reichstag fire) and blame/scapegoat the Jewish community for it, to provoke anger against them. Their goal is to incite riots (like happened during "Kristallnacht" [also known as the “Night of Broken Glass”] following the assassination of low-level Nazi diplomat Ernst vom Rath in Paris in November 1938) between the different minority groups, which would allow them to institute martial law, and grant them “emergency powers”. Then with that virtually-absolute authority, they’d use the rioting (that they themselves had engineered!) as a pretext to declare that Jewish people, African-Americans & other minorities are “a threat to national security”…………………….and enact their long-held plans for a state-sponsored mass deportation and/or genocide of ALL Jewish people, African-Americans, Latinos and other minorities & POC, in order to turn/create/remake the United States into a solely white Christian nation they want.

"Judenrein" was/is a TERRIFYING novel, especially because with all that has been going on in the world lately, it feels like society is back in 1930s Germany in the prelude to the Holocaust. Even so, I LOVED this book. It was a riveting book that at times, felt so real to what’s going on these days, in Trump’s America that I was TORN between putting it down, to just “take a breather”, and continuing to read, on the edge of my seat (or in my case, the couch) anxious about what will happen next. The only reason I gave this book 4 stars instead of 5, is because there are too many characters and it was difficult to keep them all straight in my mind, especially towards the end. It would be better if the author reduced the number of peripheral characters, and focused on a small(er) core group

Other than that, I don’t really have any complaints about this book. In some/many ways, its eerily prophetic and an important warning about what might happen if Donald Trump gets re-elected, and continues to be influenced by racist, anti-Semitic advisers like Stephen Miller, Steve Bannon and others. Some or even many of the statements made by Colonel Weld, Pete Kasprzyk & other characters almost sound like it's a tweet from Trump, or came out of his mouth. Very frightening to read especially as a brown person and daughter of immigrants. Makes me wish that more people would open their eyes and realize the danger of blindly voting for the “lesser evil” (because its DECADES of “voting for the lesser evil” that made a racist, elitist, narcissistic & megalomaniacal sexual predator and sociopath like Donald Trump a VIABLE front-runner candidate in the first place!) and vote for 3rd parties like the Green Party, EN MASSE to break the stranglehold of the corporate monopoly/duopoly political system in the US and allow REAL PROGRESS and POSITIVE CHANGE!

All in all I ♥️ this novel, "Judenrein" and even if I hadn’t gotten it for free on Kindle through Netgalley in exchange for a truthful review, I would likely have still bought it anyway. Because aside from my lifelong & deep interest in the Holocaust, "Judenrein" is a very compelling story!

I enjoy WWII-era books, and this seemed like an interesting take on things. However, I really struggled with it. The large cast of characters was overwhelming. I had problems keeping people straight at times. There was ample action, but it was a bit tiresome to sort through the cast, as well as some editing and formatting issues (that, perhaps, aren't in the finalized copy of the book).

The basis of the story is good, but it needed to be executed with slightly more care. There were too many characters introduced far too quickly. Eventually, I gave up trying to work out who was who and just focused on the action part of the story. There were some excellent elements and some entirely ludicrous moments. Too many mistakes in continuity and typos showed that all this book really needs is a good editor and then I would happily recommend it.
