I LOVED Lore. The character development. The suspense. Lore's flashbacks that keep you on the edge. All of it was wonderful, and I cannot wait to hear more about the possible TV series or movie!

This chapter sampler just got me even more excited for the book! I've loved everything Alexandra Bracken has written and I can already tell that Lore will be a new favorite, as well.

I'm very interested to read this book after enjoying some of Bracken's previous books. I feel like the world building with all the Greek mythology is important to this type of story, and from the excerpt alone, I don't know that I can draw a conclusion about whether I will like the book. There is a lot going on and a lot that I still need to understand! But the excerpt definitely piqued my interest so that I will be ready and eager to read the whole book and form an opinion once I finish it all.

I fell in love with Greek mythology in high school and was so excited to receive a six chapter sampler of this book that sets all things mythical in the heart of the mortal world. Fans of the Percy Jackson series will be enticed by Alexandra Bracken’s Lore. The novel follows the titular main character who is at the forefront of the Agon, an age-old tradition, taking place every seven years, where Greek gods walk the mortal world and are hunted by the descendants of several ancient bloodlines.
The main character, Lore, is one that I connected with immediately. Bracken did a wonderful job clearly laying out her motivations while demonstrating just how pivotal a player she is to the Agon. I was also drawn in by two of the novel’s supporting characters - Miles, Lore’s mortal friend, and Castor, who I assume will take on a larger role in the subsequent chapters of the novel.
The concept of the Agon - why it takes place and who the participates include - was a bit confusing to follow in the beginning. Some details about the bloodlines felt unnecessary and I had a lot of questions about the workings of the hunt, but the majority of them were answered by the end of the sampler.
All in all, I was captivated with Lore’s quest and the supporting characters, both friend and foe, and will be interested to read this book in it’s entirety when it comes out in January!
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for providing this chapter sampler in exchange for my honest review.

An exciting excerpt that leaves me craving for more. Bracken succeeds in creating a series starter full of mythic delights and dangers, especially for those who are tired of fairy kings and teenage assassins in fantasy versions of Europe. Personally, what I'm excited about are the fan of other mythological series - the Antigoddess series, in particular - joining in the bloodshed and chaos of Lore!

I was super excited to read this chapter sampler. I love Alexandra Bracken's Passenger series and I love Greek mythology.
Some Things I Liked
Greek Mythology inspiration. I really enjoyed the competition / backstory. I also really like all of the names.
Potential Romance. I'm already super invested in Castor and I need to know more about Lore and Castor's relationship.
One Thing I Wasn't Crazy About
Density of World Building. This book throws you right into the thick of the world building. It's a bit confusing right at the jump and it almost reads as if it's a sequel. By about chapter 4 or 5, I was able to understand everything but there was a large learning curve.
I am definitely looking forward to reading the rest of this book. It has a super cool premise and characters that I'm eager to know more about.

Since I´ve only read an excerpt I cannot speak for the entire book. But so far, this book by Alexandra Bracken has everything a really good book should have. The story brings my mind to Hunger Games (which I adored as a teen) in combination with greek mythology. That combo really set my expectations high but so far I´m definitely NOT disappointed. I really do believe Alexandra Bracken managed to pull this thing off amazingly well. And I cannot wait to get my hands on the real thing.

A story of greek gods, descendants of their family lines, set in modern times for a hunt every seven years when gods are in the open for a chance to be killed by hunters and then their immortality given to that hunter to become the next god until seven yrs later when it all happens again. Unfortunately I only received an ARC of the sampler so it doesn't get too far in before I was done but It seems like a very promising book and I wish I had the entire story to review!! Now I'm eagerly awaiting release.
I received this ARC from NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with a sampler!
Lore is such a unique take on Greek mythology. This book is a mix of Greek mythology and the Hunger Games. Lore seems to be a capable, strong heroine. The pacing was great. I found it hard to put down my kindle once I started reading the sampler. A happy plus for me was getting to see Alexandra Bracken's take on Athena. Athena is one of my favorites! I can't wait to read more of this story!

I got the chapter sampler, and it was okay, but frustrating enough that I didn't want to continue. The characters were interesting but the story was all over the place.

✨Lore✨
Thank you to Netgalley, Alexandra Bracken and the publisher for providing a sampler!
Okay so I’m gonna need the full book ASAP! This sampler has me so caught up, I’m so intrigued to see how the story progresses! It promises to be a captivating read! Greek mythology is one of my favourites so I can’t wait to read more!
So sad this was only a sampler but so grateful to have had the opportunity to read the excerpt!!

I need the rest of this book ASAP! Greek mythology is my weakness and it has been a while since I have read a mythology based book that I loved. A preview of just 65 pages was not enough. Get ready for action from page one and swoon worthy love interests already? January cannot come soon enough, this is going to be one of my most anticipated releases of 2021!

A wonderful first look at a novel that is sure to capture the attention of teens and adults alike! For those who love Percy Jackson but are looking for something more to read, this title might just be the thing you have been wanting and waiting for! Join Lore on her knew adventure as she makes decisions that will change her life forever. Will it be worth it? Time to read and find out.

I received what turned out to be a chapter sampler and I was unfortunately declined for the full ARC. I have always loved and been fascinated by Greek Mythology. I even took a class on it in university.
From what I was able to read, I loved it. It has an interesting plot that combines the gods we are all familiar with new elements such as new gods and the hunters. I liked the characters I was introduced to, they all seem to have depth. This book captivated me and I can’t wait to read the rest of it.

A big thank you to Alexandra Bracken and the publishing company for giving me this wonderful sample of Lore and also to NetGalley for giving me a treat of this chapter sampling!
Synopsis;
Every seven years, the Agon begins. As punishment for a past rebellion, nine Greek gods are forced to walk the earth as mortals. They are hunted by the descendants of ancient bloodlines, all eager to kill a god and seize their divine power and immortality.
Long ago, Lore Perseous fled that brutal world, turning her back on the hunt's promises of eternal glory after her family was murdered by a rival line. For years she's pushed away any thought of revenge against the man-now a god-responsible for their deaths.
Yet as the next hunt dawns over New York City, two participants seek her out: Castor, a childhood friend Lore believed to be dead, and Athena, one of the last of the original gods, now gravely wounded.
The goddess offers an alliance against their mutual enemy and a way to leave the Agon behind forever. But Lore's decision to rejoin the hunt, binding her fate to Athena's, will come at a deadly cost-and it may not be enough to stop the rise of a new god with the power to bring humanity to its knees.
I want to say this and only this, I am yearning for more with this book! The chapter sampling wasn't enough and I honestly can't wait to read the whole thing! I am in love!! Thank you so much!! I thoroughly enjoy Greek Myths and re-telling of them in their own way! Can't wait for the book!

So sad this is only a chapter sampler because I am dying to read the rest of the story. This feels like such a promising start. Release day can't come soon enough!

I was a huge fan of The Darkest Minds trilogy and I'm so excited to read more by Alexandra Bracken. This little sampler was not nearly enough and thankfully I just got approved for the full book! Can't wait to dive into this one more!
Also that freaking cover is gorgeous!!!

Such an exciting concept! Greek Mythology as as urban fantasy, bringing in the brutality of proper Greek mythology I feel isn't seen often enough. Lore is the amazing badass heroine everyone loves to read about and the story is truly an original idea. The characters, after only a few chapters, are already so intriguing, as well as the plot. I can't wait to continue reading how Lore gets her vengeance and this interesting twist on mythology plays out.

I was able to review a sample of this book and really enjoyed what I read. I enjoy mythology so this was right up my alley. The sample made me want more! I think I’ll try to request the full ARC soon! Can’t wait to see where this books goes!

Okay okay, Alexandra, you got me. I'm hooked after this chapter sampler.
Alexandra Bracken is a well-known name in the YA genre, although I've never picked up one of her works before this, the fact that she comes out with a book every year, usually followed by rave reviews, speaks for itself. And I definitely saw that writing prowess in just 64 pages.
Every 7 years for 7 days, an event called the Agon takes place - think of it like the Purge but for Greek Gods - whoever kills one of the 9 greek gods inherits their power, and they become the next target for people who want to continue this power inheriting cycle. The people who go after these gods with fervent passion are called hunters and they all come from 9 different bloodlines of famous Greek heroes.
Lore descends from the House of Perseus, but she has long extracted herself from this vicious cycle of killings after her whole family is murdered by a rival house. The chapter sampler was just the right length for us to understand what direction this book will be taking - as expected, Lore is confronted with her past against her will like protagonists tend to, specifically by an original Greek god and they make a certain bargain that nudges Lore to participate in this year's Agon cycle, despite many years of running away from her past.
Miles is such an apt character in this whole situation - he's the mortal best friend of Lore, and becomes a mirror for the reader to voice out the incredulity of this crazy Purge-esque killings. I love him already!
Castor is also intriguing so far - the chapter sampler reveals just enough but not too much for you to be interested in this mysterious character's backstory.
If you're a fan of Greek mythology, or frankly, if you're a fan of Rick Riordan's books (I mean.... that's how most of us come to know of Greek gods and heroes.. right?) this book sounds like it'll be right up your alley.
Can't wait to read the full book!! Ahh!!!
